Ski area and size

The Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area is one of the largest in France, covering 400km² and linking several resorts, including Megève, Saint-Gervais and Les Contamines. This vast area allows you to enjoy countless activities in a single day. 

Snow cover and skiing conditions

Precipitation ensures a stable snow cover from December to March, with an average of around 325cm of snow in winter. In addition, 900 snow cannons guarantee consistent snow cover, whatever the weather.

  • Rochebrune, to the south, is the most accessible
  • Mont d’Arbois is the most upmarket neighbourhood

The Évasion Mont-Blanc

As well as downhill skiing, the resort offers snowboarding, ski touring and dedicated off-piste areas, as well as a wide range of other winter sports. Its setting of alpine forests and snow-capped peaks also allows nature lovers to enjoy unique experiences.

Breakdown of slopes by difficulty

The Évasion Mont-Blanc has 219 slopes in the following categories:

  • 38 green slopes
  • 65 blue slopes
  • 82 red slopes
  • 34 black slopes

This means that skiers of all levels can enjoy skiing in Megève.

The main ski areas

The Rochebrune area offers a variety of slopes. Mont d’Arbois boasts modern facilities and wide slopes. The gentle slopes of Le Jaillet are perfect for beginners and families. Finally, Côte 2000 offers a wilder terrain that appeals to freeride skiers.

Slopes for beginners, intermediate skiers and experts

Beginners can enjoy safe areas and renowned ski schools. Intermediate skiers can explore a variety of slopes, whilst experts can tackle technical runs and off-piste areas in the high mountains.

Winter activities in Megève

Downhill, cross-country and freestyle skiing

As well as downhill skiing, Megève offers over 45km of cross-country trails across its high plateaus, especially at Mont d’Arbois and La Livraz (Côte 2000). Dedicated snowparks at Mont d’Arbois offer opportunities for freestyle skiing.

Other snow activities

Among the many non-skiing activities on offer are snowshoeing, tobogganing, skijoring, biathlon and snow biking. These unusual experiences offer a different way to explore the mountains.

Wellbeing, relaxation and indoor activities

The Palais de Megève is the perfect place to unwind after a day out and about. There are several swimming pools, a fully equipped spa, an ice rink and fitness facilities. It also hosts a variety of events.

Summer activities in Megève

Walking

Families can enjoy adventure trails, summer tobogganing and the 18-hole golf course at Mont d’Arbois. These activities promise a refreshing change of scenery for guests of all ages.

When to go to Megève

The best time to ski

Snow conditions are ideal from mid-December to the end of March. However, it does get quite busy during the February school holidays.

From June to September, temperatures vary from 20 to 28°C, which is ideal for outdoor activities. It is less crowded at the start and end of summer.
