What is there to do in Chamonix in the summer?

1. Swing by the golf course

The golf course in Chamonix is one of the most beautiful in France, and definitely worth a visit! Whether you’re an avid golfer or simply want to admire the mountain views from the course, Golf de Chamonix offers something for every level. The 6 kilometre course features 18 holes, with bunkers, water holes, woodlands and streams; check out their website to find out more.

2. Afternoon with the kids

If you’re looking for a fun day out with your kids, try out the luge at Domaine des Planards. Open all year-round, this 1.3 kilometre course is ideal for a speed around the mountains – no snow required. With a restaurant, amusement park, water slides and trampolines, Planards is a great place to explore with children!

3. Summer hike around Chamonix

If you’re more of a sports enthusiast, there is a huge range of hikes around Chamonix to choose from. From family walks to strenuous high-altitude hikes, there is something for everyone. Head over to the tourist office in Chamonix for recommendations according to your itinerary!

4. Visit the Mer de Glace

Another great way to visit the mountaintops is via the Montenvers train. This funicular railway will take you to an altitude of 1913 metres, just above the famous Mer de Glace. Enjoy a gentle walk back with breathtaking views, or stay to enjoy ice climbing, glacier walks, a visit to the ice cave, and more!

5. Step into the Void

Lastly, we couldn’t write a list of things to do in Chamonix without mentioning “Step into the Void”. Located at the top of the Aiguille du Midi, the skywalk is accessible via the two-stage cable car. If you’re up for it, challenge yourself to step over the 1000 metre drop, and take in an unforgettable mountain view!
