About Chalet Meringue ...
The fabulous Chalet Meringue ticks all the boxes for large groups - families, friends or corporate trips. It sleeps 15, and can be booked with Chalet Macaron next door to accommodate a group of up to 26 comfortably.
We've worked with the owners on their other properties and know this one will be just as successful. With amazing views over the pistes at Chinaillon, it has been designed to be the perfect base for an Alpine holiday, whatever the season.
It's just a short walk from the village, where you can pick up fresh croissants for breakfast or enjoy a delicious Savoyarde meal in the evening. The pistes are just 800m away (the ski bus stops at the end of the drive) so you won't need to get the car out once you're here.
Ski shop Rêves d'Hiver can deliver your skis to the chalet, come to the property to help you choose your equipment or even pick you up and drive you to their shop to benefit from their professional advice. Discounts and free ski store available.
This very special property is sure to be in big demand, so if you're interested, book now. You can't afford to hang around!
The property ...
Built over three floors, this chalet is linked by the entrance hall only to Chalet Macaron, meaning both properties retain their privacy.
The front door leads to a large hall, with a drying room for your wet gear and a boot warmer. Also on this floor is a large bedroom with two single beds and a set of bunk beds, a large bathroom with two showers, an en suite master bedroom and a games room with a Wii U games console and two single beds. The bunk room and the games room both have access to a large sunny balcony with views across the pistes.
Downstairs, you'll find the spacious open plan living area. With large groups in mind, the kitchen is superbly equipped with a large oven and a range-style hob, and there's a utility room with a washing machine and drier.
In the living area, the fireplace has glass sides, so everyone can enjoy the warmth, and there are doors out on to the sunny balcony, where there is furniture for 15 people to eat under the stars. If you'd rather stay indoors, the large dining table can be extended with a side table to seat up to 26 - great for a large group renting both Meringue and Macaron. There's also a double bedroom with an en suite shower room on this floor.
Down another floor, you'll find a family bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunks, a large family bathroom and another double bedroom with en suite shower room.
But perhaps the star feature of this chalet is the living room on this floor, which is a great place to relax during the day or party by night! Complete with a superb wide screen TV, sound system, steam room and a bar, it also has a huge picture window which opens on to the terrace, the enclosed garden and the jacuzzi.
We think the owners have thought of everything in Chalet Meringue - how could you fail to have a great holiday?
About the area ...
It's just a 800m walk from Chalet Meringue to the ski lift, but if you'd rather save your energy for the slopes, the ski bus stops at the end of the drive every 15 minutes.
With your Aravis ski pass, you've got all the Lake Annecy ski resorts at your disposal - more than 200km of perfect pistes. Even closer is a great sledge run and the start of the cross-country ski piste. Beginners in this sport will love the nearby Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains, while boarders will appreciate the Snowpark.
Non-skiers can go ice-skating in Le Grand Bornand or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
At the end of a busy day, head back to the chalet, hang up your wet clothes in the drying room ready for another day, and relax in the jacuzzi.
In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains around Chalet Meringue - you'll find a map in the chalet, as well as a secure bike store available to guests.
There's a fantastic swimming pool complex in Le Grand Bornand, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics. If you're looking for something a little more challenging, there's a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
August sees the International Children's Festival in Le Grand Bornand - a week of puppet shows, circus acts and workshops, with a grand firework finale. You're in the heart of Reblochon country, so on your travels don't forget to pick up some of this delicious cheese from a local farm or market!
There are larger supermarkets in Thônes, just 20 minutes drive away, and the medieval town of Annecy, a little further on, is a must for a day out, whatever the season. It offers a unique mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and museums, and Lake Annecy, said to be the cleanest lake in Europe, is a great place for water sports, swimming, cycling or just relaxing on the beach.
If you have read this far you are probably already imagining the fantastic holiday you could have at Chalet Meringue with your friends and family, so why not check our calendar to see when you could book? The OVO Network Review
“With superb views of the pistes, a jacuzzi terrace, gorgeous bedrooms, a cosy fireplace, a kit room, a games room, a sauna and, erm … a disco glitter ball and dance floor?”
The OVO Network and Patrice and Muriel, the owner/managers of Chalet Joubarbe and Chalet Sicoria have been working together since 2011.
Having grown up in Chinaillon Patrice and Muriel have extensive local knowledge and contacts which they are happy to share to help bring their guests a truly exceptional holiday experience. They are determined that all of their guests enjoy their holidays in their home town to the maximum.
The location of their first two properties in Chinaillon, Chalet Joubarbe and Chalet Sicoria are great, views from both are very different but equally stunning: wall to wall mountains and pistes! OVO Network have always received very positive feedback from their previous guests.
So when Patrice and Muriel came to us clutching architects plans in 2013 and announced they proposed to build two more properties next door to Chalet Joubarbe we were intrigued. We knew that they are capable of delivering projects on time having observed them renovate Joubarbe and Sicoria.
The plans for the new project, Chalet Meringue and Chalet Macaron also featured their characteristic attention to detail, unusual design features and spaces, great facilities, and high end finishes, furniture and equipment. The properties share an entrance lobby, but no other interior walls.
They can be rented together by larger groups of up to 26, who can all be seated around one dining table in Meringue, the larger of the two chalets, or separately, without fear of one group spoiling the other's enjoyment or space.
We have received nothing but positive feedback about these two properties and of course Muriel and Patrice's amazing customer service. Don't just take our word for it, look on the Chalet Meringue website to see for yourselves! With superb views of the pistes, a jacuzzi terrace, gorgeous bedrooms, a cosy fireplace, a kit room, a games room, a sauna and, erm … a disco glitter ball and dance floor? Come and join in the fun!
The OVO Network Team.
Update: Muriel Patrice and Antony have now added two more properties to their portfolio - this time with a shared indoor pool, in the beautiful village of Manigod. For more information please see the websites for Chalet Nougat and Chalet Caramel on the OVO Network website.

From the owner
We are proud to share our love of the mountains and our local knowledge with all our guests.
Our parents first welcomed guests to Chinaillon to Les Congères, a chalet that our father built himself in 1965. The chalet was named after the snowdrifts which used to cut off the farms in the winter.
We are a brother and sister team, following in our parents' footsteps, constantly developing and improving the family business, and now we offer various rental properties around Les Congeres. All these properties have been built or extensively renovated over the last two years, and the response and feedback to the renovations from our guests, many of whom have been staying in our properties for many years, has been incredibly positive and much appreciated.
We thoroughly enjoy being in the holiday rental business and are always happy to share our love of the mountains and our local knowledge with all our guests. We are therefore proud to unveil our latest properties, Chalet Meringue and Chalet Macaron.
These spacious high-quality properties will offer you the chance to spend time with family and friends in an idyllic location, whatever the time of year.
Once you are here you can park your car and forget about it ! The shops, slopes and hiking trails are all right on your doorstep.
Please do not hesitate to contact us, for more information or to book, we will be delighted to welcome you to Chalets Meringue and Macaron.
Patrice and Muriel.

“What more could we have asked for!?”
A great opportunity to bring together 3 generations for a white and sporty Christmas, thank you to our hosts. The chalet is very comfortable and it is located opposite the slopes of Chinaillon, well furnished and organised with all the necessary equipment for a family stay. The spa in the snow was magical, the ski bus less than 100m away and the snowshoe trails are accessible from the chalet. What more could we have asked for!?

An excellent weekend at Chalet Meringe with our children and grandchildren. No complaints: the owners were very kind and helpful. “A super holiday in a luxury chalet”
We had an excellent holiday at Chalet Meringue. The chalet is very well equipped. The bedrooms are spacious. I particularly liked the electric shutters in the bedroom, which ensure total darkness. We also loved the hot tub and the steam room. The rooms are laid out very well. You can leave your skis in the area just before the door and take off your boots in the ski room, where there is a boot warmer and a radiator for your gloves - the owners have thought of everything and it all works well. The kitchen is well equipped: fondue sets, raclette, a mixer ... To sum up, we really loved the space, the room layout, the simple decor and the facilities! Thank you for this great week.
— Hélène H. Apr 2019
“A dream holiday”
We spent New Year at Chalet Meringue. Despite the lack of snow, the chalet helped us to overlook this detail! Everything is within reach of the chalet, and we didn't need to take the car out at all. We often rent with friends, and we were all impressed by the cleanliness straight away, it is exemplary. Everything was well thought out, with the individual heating and a television in every room. We really loved the walks and the surrounding area, the ski area and the beautiful village with wooden chalets. The owners are very kind. We hope to be able to come back. A big bravo to Sandra, the caterer, who cooked up some very good meals (we went for the half board option).
— Béatrice M. Dec 2018
“A marvellous holiday”
Thanks to the whole team at Les Congères, who helped us make our family reunion - 40 children and adults in Chalets Meringue, Macaron, and Joubarbe - into a marvellous time. The chalets were clean, well equipped and top of the range (spa, steam room ...). The environment is restful and the panoramic view of the mountains was a big factor in the success of our holiday.
— Christian B. Oct 2018

“A very comfortable chalet”
We had a lovely family holiday in this comfortable chalet (every bedroom has its own bathroom). We received a warm welcome and the weather was great. The chalet has been well planned for a group holiday, with places where you can find your own space if necessary. We particularly enjoyed the view, the peace and quiet and the comfort. The steam room and hot tub deserve a special mention, as well as the internet and TV set-up.

“An idyllic week”
We had a really lovely week in Chinaillon. Despite it being the end of the season, there was still plenty of snow - the lifts were not working but we enjoyed snowshoe walks in wonderful sunshine. Chalet Meringue was very comfortable - there was everything we needed for an idyllic week. Everything was perfect. And we loved the countryside and the mountains. The owners are really lovely and always there to help.
— Marie B. Apr 2018
“We had a great stay!”
We had a super week in Le Grand Bornand, a family ski station which perfectly suited out group. There were 26 of us, so we stayed in the adjoining chalets Meringue and Macaron, which meant we could get together when we wanted to and find our own space when we needed it. They are very beautiful chalets with all the facilities you could need, particularly the great hot tub and steam room! The location is great, with a magnificent view of the pistes - we had a lovely holiday. Thanks to Patrice and Muriel for their help and their welcome.
— Cathy G. Feb 2018

The chalet is magnificent and very well thought-out, there was nothing we lacked! All the ingredients were there for a dream holiday. The chalets are so spacious that everyone can find their own place, whatever their age. We really loved the hot tubs as well as the warm welcome from Muriel and Patrice. There is every comfort you need and more. During the week, despite the spring snow, we were able to ski every day as well as enjoying lovely hikes in and around the village. The sun shone and the holidays were wonderful ...

“Thanks for a magical week!”
We rented Chalets Macaron and Meringue for our wedding week. Apart from the fact that the chalets were exceptional, we would like to thank the owners for their attentiveness, their kindness, and their availability on our arrival as well as the Reblochons as we left.
— Romain O. Mar 2017
“The best we have ever stayed at!”
The chalet was absolutely fantastic, the best we have ever stayed at. The hot tub and the fantastic views, the space and the high specification of the bathrooms and kitchen... everything was perfect and of very high quality and the location was wonderful. Your service was very efficient and helpful. The skiing domain is great for a mixed party with some beginners, with very friendly, lovely local restaurants and really good ski instructors. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Le Grand Bornand. Thank you for everything.
— Pearl W. Jan 2017
“We might come back!”
Thanks Patrice and Muriel for a great stay in Chalet Meringue. The chalet is very worthy of its name: a great experience, as good as the patisserie version of the meringue! The house met the already high expectations as raised by the website. Location, views, hammam, jacuzzi, log fire, etc.: it all made up for a great ski trip for our family of 16 (8 adults, 8 kids). It's very spacious, well kept, great logfire which together with hammam and jacuzzi provided excellent apres-ski. The house is well equipped, and very close to ski lifts. Although we expected to find no snow on the slopes, the Grand Bornand area managed to keep some lifts open. The skiing was very acceptable although very little snow in the area (and in the French Alps, for that matter). Quite clear that everyone worked hard to keep things running. Pleasant shops & bars, pleasant personnel everywhere, no crowd... We might come back for more!
— Ewout M. Dec 2016
“This chalet is quite simply fabulous”
This property really deserves its five stars, with such kindness and the best welcome from Patrice and Muriel. The comfort, the jacuzzi, the hammam, the location in the village ... we loved everything. We also loved the walks in the area, as we didn't have any snow ...
— Christine J. Dec 2016
