About Chalet Lydie ...
Chalet Lydie is one of a pair of 4 star semi-detached chalets close to the charming village of Manigod and just 1km from some great skiing at Croix Fry.
Set over three floors, it is ideal for families wishing to holiday together. Larger groups can also be accommodated by renting Chalet Lydie with the next door Chalet de Paul et Marie - together the two properties sleep up to 16 people comfortably.
Chalet Lydie has a large living area to accommodate everyone, and there's also room for 16 people to eat together by putting the two tables together. Access between the chalets is via the balcony off the main area - convenient for groups but if you only want to book one of the chalets, the access can be locked off and your privacy guaranteed.
The views from this south-facing chalet are incredible - from your terrace you can admire the stunning Aravis valley, framed by Etale, Sulens and Mont Charvin.
The property ...
Despite its traditional appearance from outside, Chalet Lydie's stunning contemporary interior is designed to make the most of the mountain views and light.
Bleached woods and neutral tones perfectly complement faux fur and wool textiles and splashes of colour. The property is set over two floors, with access to the basement where you can store ski equipment or bikes.
The spacious open-plan living area is on the ground floor, with a well-equipped kitchen and dining table for eight people. A large corner sofa and pouffes provide the perfect place to watch television or gather around the log burner, and sliding double doors open on to the balcony, which overlooks the valley.
There's a double bedroom on this floor, as well as a toilet and a bathroom. There are three more bedrooms upstairs, all of which have double or ziplink beds which can be made into twins. The two bedrooms at the front of the property open on to a balcony - the perfect place for your first morning coffee! There is also a second bathroom and wc on this floor.
About the area ...
Skiers and boarders will love Chalet Lydie, just a few minutes’ drive from the lifts at Croix Fry.
If you’d rather not take the car out, the ski bus stops just 100m from your door. There’s an ESF ski school base at Croix Fry, where beginners can find their feet on the gentle nursery slopes. Those with more experience can ski from here or explore the 220km of pistes between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, which are all covered by the Aravis ski pass. Competent skiers can even ski back to the chalet!
There are plenty of trails for cross-country skiers on the nearby Beauregard plateau, where you an also enjoy snow shoe trails, with views across to Mont Blanc. If there are non-skiers in your party, there are heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools at La Clusaz as well as an ice-skating rink and cinema.
You could also try dog-sledding, sleigh rides or the local specialty - paret sledging!
You’ll never be stuck for something to do in the Aravis valley in the summer, either. There’s no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign against the German army in World War II.
The ski lifts will take walkers or cyclists and their bikes up the mountains, so they can come down at their own pace, and adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is another great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains secured to a harness.
You’ll have plenty of experiences to share back at the chalet, perhaps over a beer and a barbecue on the terrace as the sun sets.

We love the peace and freedom of this chalet in the heart of nature
My grandmother Lydie inherited this chalet from her parents Louise and Constant.
After she retired, she loved spending every summer in the chalet, from June to mid-October, although it wasn't terribly comfortable. She came with her husband André, who was also born in Manigod.
My parents brought her groceries and supplies at weekends and I often spent my summer holidays here with my grandparents and my cousins.
When I married Paul, he also fell in love with the place. He enjoyed renovating the place with local craftsmen, bringing it up to a high level of comfort. Along with our two daughters, Céline and Aurélie, we spent our holidays here with family and friends, and they have kept the tradition up.
We love the peace and freedom of this chalet in the heart of nature, surrounded by mountains. We hope you will also have some wonderful moments here.
Marie and Paul
Why La Clusaz?
Less than an hour from Geneva, La Clusaz offers Alpine action all year round. A traditional farming village, it not only offers great skiing and superb summer activities, but also a real community feel, whenever you visit. Great restaurants, bars and nightlife combine with local markets, festivals and traditions to give you the best of all worlds.
“A high quality chalet”
Chalet Lydie is very well equipped, functional and has many equipments to cook, board games to play with.... We really enjoyed the high level of comfort, the location, and we found the chalet an excellent value for money. I was worried that the photos would be nicer than reality, or that the view wouldn't be as nice as advertised. But everything was perfect and we were not disappointed. We loved the wonderful scenery in the area of Manigod. And above all : the calm, the privacy, the high quality of the equipments (comfy beds, heating, kitchen), the layout of the chalet, the view, the welcome gift and the welcome of the owners.

A very beautiful and confortable chalet in a very quiet place. The view is astonishing and the property is 2 minutes away from the slopes. Make sure you stock up on food in Thônes before heading to Manigod.

“A magnificent setting”
We come to this area every year. As always with OVO the decor was very well done; the chalet was impeccably clean; and the service was the best. The area, the skiing and the local produce are fantastic. We could perhaps have done with a garage and TV in the bedrooms, but apart from that we had no problems.

“Thanks again and see you soon!”
It's always a pleasure to spend time with the family at Chalet Lydie. We never tire of the peace, the view and the beauty of the Manigod valley, which is quiet yet close to shops and restaurants. We must mention the new service offering croissants delivered in the mornings - excellent!

“Welcoming and tastefully decorated”
A really lovely week in your magnificent chalet, which is welcoming and tastefully decorated. We really felt at home there. The view is amazing and we were lucky enough to have great weather during the day and snow in the evening - it was idyllic. We enjoyed Nordic skiing, snow-shoeing and sledging below the chalet. We also appreciated the free delivery of fresh bread every morning! We enjoyed the Savoyard specialities that we bought in the village, or tried at Chez Fonfon (the restaurant at the bottom of the pistes in Manigod) and L'Etale (run by Seb and Jean Luc in La Clusaz) - two great places. We also loved our visit to the goat farm on the Route des Confins at La Clusaz, where we tried the famous goat's cheese.

Super memories and a lovely surprise when we arrived! A superb chalet with a really warm welcome. The view is magnificent and if you are looking for peace and quiet, you'll find it here. The snow was there and we were able to enjoy Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing. Thank you for the comfort and the wonderful equipment.

“An excellent experience. ”
A very beautiful chalet where we spent an excellent holiday. A magnificent view and the chalet management was excellent. We had a lovely welcome and great service from Sophie - many thanks.

“Far away from the crowd...”
We left Chalet Lydie like we would leave an old friend - with a little sadness in our heart. We felt like three castaways far from the commotion, noise and nuisance and I think that is a luxury. We wish you all the best holidays in the world in this chalet, with those you love.
Miba I. - 28/08/2015
“We'll be back with great pleasure!”
This chalet is wonderfully located in Manigod, away from the road and facing Mt Charvin & Sulens. The view is totally relaxing! Chalet Lydie is also very comfortable, well designed and organised. We spent a very enjoyable stay.
David B. - 22/08/2015
As great hiking enthusiasts, we found plenty to do throughout our stay, discovering unspoilt mountain landscapes and breathtaking countryside. There are hiking trails which pass the door of the chalet, and mountain-biking is just as accessible. It’s impossible to get bored !

“A beautiful spacious chalet”
In the heart of the mountains, a beautiful spacious chalet which has retained the soul of the mountains.
Plenty of hiking and snowshoe trails close to great ski stations : Croix Fry/Merdassier, La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand … and the ski bus stops just a couple of steps from the chalet !
The Beauregard plateau is a great place for snow sports, with a great atmosphere guaranteed.
Hélène B. - 28/03/2015
“Toboggan in front of the chalet!”
Gliding down the hill on the paret with the yeti – young and old were enchanted !
You can even toboggan right in front of the chalet ! A blissful holiday combining peace and conviviality in a welcoming resort with plenty of unusual activities and entertainment.
Aurélie C. - 21/02/2015
“Such happy memories...”
Cross-country skiing ; snowshoeing under a sea of clouds ; the devilish toboggan run below the chalet ; the torch-lit ski descent and a good raclette around the fire !
Valérie P. - 17/01/2015
“A wonderful winter holiday”
This chalet is perfectly placed with a breathtaking view of the mountains and lots of sunshine. Magnificent sunsets.
A cosy, comfortable and peaceful chalet.
The pistes are less than 5 minutes away and there are plenty of other activities, such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the Beauregard plateau, with a 360-degree view.
Loïc B. - 27/12/2014
“Our only wish is to come back!”
We appreciated this chalet and its surroundings for the tranquility, the scenery and the many and varied walks.
Marie-France R. - 13/09/2014
“Full and relaxed life”
We had a superb stay at the chalet. I felt completely rejuvenated by these magnificent landscapes: mountain-biking, via ferrata, and peaks of more than 2,000m to climb – Mt Charvin, Pointe Percée – and barbecues on the terrace!
I have rediscovered how to live a full and relaxed life.
