The OVO Network Review

Chalet 65bis is a detached, two-storey home for 6 with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Its location in the charming market town of Thônes is perfect for a group who would like to explore the Aravis mountains but still want all the facilities of a busy town nearby. But despite the town location, there's a surprising amount of outside space, with a large lawned garden and two terrace areas.

The three double bedrooms all have their own bath or shower room - a real bonus when you're all rushing to get ready for a day out. We also love the open-plan living area, with a cosy seating area for watching TV or catching up with friends, a fabulous kitchen with plenty of space to cook up a tasty meal and a dining table big enough to all eat together.

There's also a useful work station - with more and more people choosing to extend their holiday and work remotely, it's a popular feature with guests.

There's parking for up to three cars in front of the chalet, which is set on a through road. This may not suit everyone, but it does mean that the access is always clear of snow, and that it's easy to get in and out of the town.

All in all, we think Chalet 65bis will be a popular year-round choice with families, especially those with older children who will enjoy being close to a busy town that they can walk to, and those who want to enjoy the Aravis mountains and the medieval lakeside town of Annecy, both of which are an easy drive away.

The external and internal stairs mean it may not be ideal for those with reduced mobility.

“Welcome to this restored family home, a short walk from the town centre”

A village house just a stone's throw from the town centre, Chalet 65bis was built in 1906 as a workers' cottage and belonged to my grandmother's aunt. It is located in the town of Thônes, just a few minutes' walk from all amenities.

I was given the chance to buy it in 2016, by which time it had been uninhabited for over 30 years. I set about renovating it, and it is now a modern, comfortable home with a large outdoor terrace where you can while away the summer evenings.

Chalet 65bis also has a large flat garden where children can play.

I will be happy answer any questions to help you make the most of your stay.

We have spent a very nice week. The chalet is well located, close to 3 ski resorts and Annecy. The chalet is nicely decorated and each bedroom has a bathroom. The kitchen is very nice and well equipped.

Enjoyable stay. The house is well-suited for a family. The kitchen is equipped beyond expectations, with everything you need and more. The ski resort is not far, accessible via a pleasant route. We often went sledding with the children.

“Cozy chalet near Thones”

Lovely chalet and only a 5-minute stroll into Thones. The chalet was well-equipped with everything we needed for a week's stay. It rained a lot, so we spent more time in the chalet than we had hoped for. Maybe the lounge area could be made more comfortable. Also, the road outside is very busy, and the early morning traffic is noisy, especially if you sleep with the windows open. Some of our party were also not fond of the windows in the bathrooms of the downstairs rooms, which look into the bedrooms. Maybe it's just a British thing? Overall, a deserving 4/5 rating as we enjoyed our time there.
