About Manoir de Leschaux...
You'll feel like the lord and lady of the manor when you stay at this 4 star former mayor’s home - this elegant stone-built manor is a very different place for an unforgettable mountain holiday.
In extensive grounds with an enclosed play area, a heated swimming pool (available from June to September, heated in July and August), an outdoor jacuzzi and the guardian's house with gym, changing rooms, sauna and summer kitchen, Manoir de Leschaux has been totally refurbished and now offers urban boutique style in a beautiful Alpine location.
The manor is set back from a main road, far enough away to be quiet, but with easy access, even in the winter.
The village of Petit Bornand, just 1.6km away, has a boulangerie and a restaurant. You will find plenty more in nearby Grand Bornand and La Clusaz.
The property...
As you pass through the electric gates and up the drive, the elegant ivy-clad exterior of the Manoir de Leschaux gives very few clues to the stunning contemporary style you will find inside.
A five-year refurbishment has resulted in a beautiful blend of urban chic and traditional French country style. Large high-ceilinged rooms have been made cosy and welcoming with a clever mixture of old and new furniture, where glass, chrome and leather sit happily alongside wood and soft furnishings.
The accommodation is set over four floors, with the main living area on the first floor - this is a large open plan room with a dining area, sitting area with a beautiful stone fireplace and a separate TV area. The modern kitchen has three ovens, two dishwashers and a large American-style fridge - cooking large meals for a crowd or separate menus for smaller groups will be a real pleasure!
When you’re not enjoying a meal with friends or relaxing in front of the fire, head downstairs and shoot some pool and play pinball in the games room or perhaps watch a film with surround sound in the cinema room. On a more practical note, you will also find a laundry, heated boot room and plenty of storage down here.
The six bedrooms are on the top two floors - five of them are en suite and the huge master suite even has its own sauna. There’s also a separate bathroom on the top floor.
Oh and did we mention the guardian's house? You'll find a gym here, as well as showers and changing rooms, a sauna for eight and a summer kitchen for al fresco meals around the pool (pool available from June to September, heated in July and August) or use the outdoor pizza oven to make your own homemade pizza! Upstairs there is a huge room overlooking the pool and gardens - with a high-tech stereo system, it's the perfect place to relax and listen to music, for the kids to play or, if you have to check in with the office, it's a great work space too.
There are several terraces and seating areas around the house so that you can follow the sun. The outdoor dining space is between the Gate House and the pool. Kids of all ages will love the enclosed all-weather sports area and table tennis, and there's even a zip wire - but this should only be used with adult supervision.
About the area...
Le Manoir de Leschaux is is just a 15 to 20 minute drive from the Aravis ski stations of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand two of the Aravis ski stations which offer 220km of great skiing for all levels.
If you are looking for more variety you can get to Megeve, Chamonix or Courmayeur in under an hour. Cross-country skiers have a choice of trails on the Glieres plateau, scene of the Resistance campaign in World War II.
There is plenty to do for non-skiers too - try horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice-skating, paragliding or hot air ballooning or just relax in the heated indoor/outdoor pools at La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, as the snow-covered mountains tower above you.
In the summer, it would be tempting to spend your days relaxing on the sunny terraces, in the gardens and around the swimming pool of Le Manoir de Leschaux, but with a fabulous mountain playground on all sides, it would be a shame not to explore it.
There are plenty of hiking and mountain bike trails, and if you prefer to make things a little easier, the ski lifts will whisk you up to higher ground so that you don’t have to put in the hard work! Pack a picnic of some local bread and cheese, or eat at one of the many mountain restaurants, which offer good food and spectacular views.
For a great day out, head for Annecy and explore canals that run through this medieval town. You could also enjoy watersports on the lake, relax on the beach or enjoy a cruise to a waterside restaurant.
Thrill seekers can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata or white-water rafting, and at the end of the day you can reflect on the day’s fun over a cold beer and a barbecue around the pool.

The OVO Network Review
Situated in the Vallee de Borne 40km away from Geneva airport, the nearest resorts to the Manoir de Leschaux are the Aravis resorts (Grand Bornand 13km, La Clusaz 15km) Chamonix is 64km away, the Mont Blanc tunnel 69km away, les Gets on the Portes de Soleil is just 40km away, Megeve is 50km away.
All resorts can be reached via main roads or motorways.
In the summer the gardens and amenities at the Manoir are superb; there’s a heated swimming pool (17m x 5m), an outdoor jacuzzi, an enclosed all weather surface space big enough for 5 a side football/basketball/volleyball or tennis, a petanque court, a table tennis table and swing set.
The 5000m2 garden runs parallel to the road up the valley, which can get busy in winter as skiers head up to and return from the ski stations above.
The property is comprised of two buildings behind electronic gates - the houses and grounds are completely enclosed. The architecture, furniture and decoration of this property is just stunning, please see the photos, 360s and video to judge for yourself.
The gate house overlooks the gardens, pool, jacuzzi and terrace linking the two properties together, and consists of a gym, sauna, changing rooms, a summer kitchen, an office space and a lounge space with fireplace.
There are 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms in the four-storey manor house itself, as well as a home cinema, a games room with pool table and arcade games, and high quality sound systems throughout the principal areas. There is ample room to securely store kit too.
If you are interested in local history, and especially WWII, the Manor de Leschaux is just a five-minute drive from the road up to Le Plateau des Glières, an important historical site, which is now a place for calm peaceful reflection among the high mountain pastures.
There are shops, supermarkets, restaurants, chemists, petrol stations, Doctor’s surgeries etc in both directions at Entremont and St Jean de Sixt or Bonneville and St Pierre en Faucigny.
There is also plenty of space to park between the two buildings.

From the owner

Laurence
“We have lived in Petit Bornand for over 20 years. Geneva is a very convenient 40-minute drive away.
We lived in a typical Savoyard chalet on the other side of the valley, which was great fun but we only had one loo between 16 people! We wanted to build a swimming pool in the chalet grounds, but we were refused permission. When Le Manoir de Leschaux came on the market, we snapped it up without hesitation.
It came with an 18-metre pool and now we have eight loos!
The house was originally owned by the then Mayor who had bought it for his son, an Olympic skier and his family. It's the only house in the village that has a huge pool.
The house was built by a Parisian wine merchant in the 1920s, using the rocks from falling boulders from the Leschaux mountains above. It is known by the locals as 'The Chateau', I guess because it's the largest house in the village.
We were impressed by the decadence of the property and were inspired to enhance it further - making it 'Urban Chic' in the Alps.
The interiors are oak parquet and white marble floors. There are Bisazza tiles in all the bathrooms, two saunas and a hot tub, a Boffi kitchen and lots of modern furniture coupled with super sound systems, flat screen TVs and a home cinema. Downstairs we shoot pool.
There's even a TV in one of the bathrooms!
It's been our winter residence for more than eight years now. With 12 brothers and sisters between us it's the perfect place for large and extended families.
Although the house is not on the ski slopes, it's only a 15-minute drive to the nearest ski domaines in Grand Bornand and La Clusaz. What's more if you want variety, you can get to a plethora of ski areas in less than an hour.
The Grand Massif, Megeve, Portes du Soleil and Chamonix are all easy reachable for a day's skiing and after Chamonix why not go for a pizza in Italy another 15 mins to Courmayeur, on the Italian side of Mont Blanc. Our kids loved to tell their school friends they'd been to Italy just for a pizza!
In the summer there is of course the huge pool, all the land around with landscaped gardens, a mini tennis court, basketball, five-a-side football and volleyball and also a place for Boules. Le plateau des Glières, is just a 15-minute drive away.
Lake Annecy and its medieval town is just 40 minutes away. You can drive to the gorgeous village of Yvoire in 40 minutes and from there, you can cross Lake Leman (Geneva) by ferry, 10 mins to Switzerland.
We hope and think you will love it."
