This charming converted farmhouse for 12 is in the Montremont valley, just 2km from the busy market town of Thônes. As well as wonderful outside spaces, La Ferme du Cortet has also plenty of room inside, including a games room with a bar, table football and a mezzanine reading room.
The busy town of Thônes has a great selection of shops and restaurants and on Saturday mornings you can visit the popular market. Thônes is a great base for hiking and biking, and is just 12km from the Aravis ski resorts of La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Manigod and 15km from Annecy lake.
About the property ...
Accommodation at La Ferme du Cortet is set over two main floors.
You'll enter on the ground floor of this beautiful stone farm house, where you'll find a useful garage with room for storing ski and outdoor equipment. Through the well-equipped kitchen you'll find a large dining area with room for everyone to sit down to eat together. From here you'll pass the WC and laundry room on your way to the main living room, which has a seating area in front of the woodburning stove, table football and darts, as well as a bar - it's a great place to get together after dinner. There's also another dining table in here where you can play cards or enjoy a board game.
If you're looking for somewhere quieter, there's another TV room with sofas and chairs on the ground floor as well as a mezzanine seating area which is the perfect place to curl up with a book or have a quiet chat. Another mezzanine area has a pool table, so there's always something to do and somewhere to do it!
There are four bedrooms on the upper floor. The first is a double room with an en-suite shower room, and there are two more double rooms which share a shower room. The final room is a spacious room for six, with two single beds and two sets of built-in bunks. This would make a great family room, or a room which six children could make their own - there's plenty of room to play here too.
This beautiful rustic farmhouse is sure to be a place where great memories are made - children will love having so much room outside to run around and play, while adults will enjoy supervising them from a seating area under the trees or beside the pond. And with so much room inside too, the fun doesn't have to stop when it's time to come in!
About the area ...
La Ferme du Cortet, just 2km from Thônes, is in a great location to make the most of the winter sports offered in the Aravis ski resorts. Just 20 minutes (12km) from the ski stations of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, you can ski somewhere new every day. Your Aravis ski pass also covers the Manigod area, giving you 220km of pistes of varying levels to explore, as well as extensive off-piste action. Parking is available at the ski stations, or use the network of ski buses, which are free with your Aravis ski pass or the Carte d’hôte.
Cross-country skiers will discover a great variety of trails from nearby St-Jean-de-Sixt - pick up a map from the village tourist office.
Non-skiers are also well catered for. Thônes has plenty of shops and restaurants and a cinema, as well as a packed programme of entertainment in summer and winter. If you fancy exploring the mountains, try snow-shoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
In the summer, a holiday at La Ferme du Cortet offers you the best of both worlds - mountain adventure and lakeside relaxation.There are great walking and biking trails right from your door, or you could drive to the beautiful village of Menthon St Bernard on the banks of Lake Annecy in just 20 minutes.
The medieval town of Annecy itself is just a little further away. A day out in this medieval town is a must - spend the morning exploring the shops, markets and canals, enjoy lunch at a lakeside restaurant and then spend the afternoon on the beach or hire a boat and visit some of the beautiful villages around the lake.
St-Jean-de-Sixt is one of the few places where you can try Bun-J ride, a cross between ski jumping and bungee jumping. Other more traditional pastimes are available too - marked footpaths crisscross the mountains, or you can explore by mountain bike or on horseback.
There are indoor and outdoor swimming pool complexes in Thônes, Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz, or if you're looking for something a little more challenging, there are climbing schools, via ferrata routes, tree-top adventure parks, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.

La Ferme du Cortet is a beautiful stone farmhouse for 12 guests, with four bedrooms and three shower rooms. It has been carefully renovated to preserve its unique character while providing guests with all the space and facilities they need for a wonderful Alpine holiday.
The property is just 2km from Thônes and 12km from the Aravis ski resorts of La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Manigod, making it a great base for a winter ski holiday. But its strengths really lie in its wonderful garden, with a pond, play area and stables, making it a wonderful choice for a holiday at any time of year.
Children of all ages will love exploring the huge grounds, although younger children will have to be carefully supervised around the pond.
Inside, there's a great choice of communal spaces - let off steam in the games room, enjoy a drink in the bar area, enjoy a quiet conversation or a book in the mezzanine reading nook or watch a film in the TV room. Of course you can all get together to eat around the dining table!
With four bedrooms (two en suite) and a third bathroom, there's plenty of room upstairs too. Children will love the bunk room for six, although it's equally suited as a family room.

In 2000, our retired parents bought the property and over the next 15 years they carefully renovated it, retaining its character and in keeping with the local Savoyard architecture.
The house quickly became a meeting place for family and friends for various celebrations and was the setting for some memorable parties.
We also enjoy quiet times by the pond in the huge garden.
The Cortet farm has always been a place of welcome and sharing, so we're delighted to be able to offer it to a wider public who appreciate the atmosphere of this place that is so dear to us.
