This delightful chalet for 10 is set in the tiny hamlet of Villarembert, just 4km from the resort of Le Corbier, in the Les Sybelles ski domaine. Beautifully renovated, it combines all the facilities you need for a restful holiday with a charming mountain style that will make you feel right at home.
Despite its tranquil, natural setting, it's just a 15-minute walk along a footpath (900m) to the lifts and purpose-built village of Le Corbier, which is also served by a shuttle bus in winter. You'll find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in this pedestrianised, purpose-built Alpine resort, as well as a wellness centre, open-air swimming pool and a wide range of activities. But at the end of an active day you'll appreciate the peaceful setting of Chalet Bendo and the stunning views!
The chalet has a huge, landscaped garden with a pond and bordered by a mountain stream.
Le Corbier is one of six resorts in Les Sybelles, the fourth largest ski area in France. And with an altitude of up to 2,620m, it has a great snow record. Outside the ski season, it's a popular area for walkers and hikers, with a huge choice of marked trails across Les Sybelles and the Maurienne valley.
Le Corbier has the Famille Plus label, which means there is always plenty of entertainment for families with young children.
About the property ...
Accommodation at this beautiful chalet is set over three floors, with four/five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
There are four bedrooms on the top floor - a large double room with an en suite bathroom and separate WC; two more double rooms and a lovely bright twin room with two single beds, which is perfect for children. This room can be arranged with a kingsize bed if you'd prefer. There is another double bedroom on the ground floor, which has an en suite shower room with WC, but the stairs to the lower floor go through this bedroom, which may compromise privacy slightly.
The entrance on the ground floor leads into a useful hall, with a bench and plenty of hanging space for outdoor clothes. This leads you through into the cosy open-plan living area. A huge sofa is positioned in front of an enclosed fireplace, and the large dining table has room for everyone to sit down and enjoy a meal together.
Doors open on to the spacious balcony, where you can enjoy an apero and soak up the breathtaking views before dinner. And when the weather is good, why not eat out here? There's a barbecue, a dining table and a seating area, and stairs lead down to the terrace, where you can relax in the hot tub or on the sunbeds. There's also a large landscaped garden with a pond and a mountain stream. It's a great place for children to explore, although younger children will need adult supervision around the pond.
Back in the house, there's a mezzanine floor above the living area, where you can relax on a big corner sofa in front of the television - there's a DVD library and Netflix so you're sure to find something you want to watch.
The kitchen, which is separated from the living area by a useful breakfast bar, has everything you need to cook for a large group, including a dishwasher and an American-style fridge freezer. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and dryer. There's also a ski room on the ground floor with a heated boot warmer, and a sauna where you can soothe your aching muscles after a day in the mountains.
There is parking outside the chalet for 2/3 cars, but in summer, but in winter cars may need to be parked away from the sloping room in case of falling snow. Alternative parking is available.
About the area ...
Winter sports enthusiasts will find plenty of challenge in Le Corbier and the other five resorts of the Les Sybelles area - St-Jean-d’Arves, La Toussuire, Les Bottières, Saint-Colomban des Villards and St-Sorlin-d’Arves. There's a total of 310km of pistes, with 136 slopes ranging from easy greens to challenging reds and blacks, 68 lifts and some stunning views. There's an ESF ski school in Le Corbier too, which meets in the village centre. There's also a snowpark, freeride, boarder cross and a toboggan run!
You can leave your ski equipment in lockers in the village if you prefer, but when conditions are right, it's possible to ski right back to the chalet!
In the summer, pick up a guide from the tourist office and enjoy some of the wonderful hiking and biking trails around Le Corbier and Les Sybelles. They range from gentle family strolls to more challenging ascents. Afterwards, cool off in the outdoor pool at the village's wellness centre.
Other activities you can try include via ferrata, horse riding, paragliding and canyoning. Younger guests will love the mini quad course and the balance bikes - there's really no time to be bored!

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Bendo is a fully-renovated chalet for 8-10 people, with five bedrooms and three bathrooms. You'll also appreciate the sauna and the hot tub!
Parties of 10 should be aware that a staircase to the sauna and ski room passes through bedroom, so there may be some privacy issues during the day.
The other four bedrooms are on the first floor - there's a spacious master suite with an en suite bathroom, two double rooms, a twin room which can be arranged with a kingsize bed if you prefer and a separate shower room.
The cosy living area, which retains many of the old features of this former barn, is decorated in mellow colours and a rustic style - you'll immediately feel at home here! The huge balcony, which is partially covered, is a great place to wrap up and enjoy some star-gazing in the winter or to fire up the barbecue and eat out when the weather is good. The views are stunning, especially when you enjoy them from the hot tub!
The kitchen is well-equipped, with a large fridge-freezer, an oven, hob and microwave, and of course a dishwasher to make light work of the clearing up. There's also a separate utility room with a washing machine and dryer.
As well as a terrace and a balcony, there's also a large, landscaped garden at Chalet Bendo, with a pond and mountain stream. Children will love to go exploring, but younger children will need to be supervised around the pond and on the steep slopes.
The tarmac road to Chalet Bendo is regularly cleared of snow in the winter, but you will need snow tyres or chains for your car. You should also be careful not to park your car under the sloped roof in the winter, as you come out to find it buried in snow!
Chalet Bendo is a 900m walk or a 4km drive from the village of Le Corbier, a purpose-built mountain resort with lifts, a wellness centre with an open-air pool and a good range of shops and restaurants. It's all pedestrianised and much of it is covered too, making it the ideal environment for families.
The village is one of six that make up the Sybelles ski area, which has over 300km of skiing over 136 pistes with 68 lifts. Outside the winter it's a great place to hike, cycle and get close to nature.
You've got the best of both worlds when you stay at Chalet Bendo - a wonderful peaceful haven surrounded by nature just a 15-minute walk from some great skiing, hiking and biking.

Three years ago, I moved to this area of the Maurienne, the valley of the Arvan, a mountain stream that flows down from the famous Aiguilles d'Arves with its distinctive cat's head! Chalet Bendo was originally a typical mountain barn from 1880. I was immediately smitten with this authentic mountain farmhouse, sheltered from the hustle and bustle, with its breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and their snow-capped peaks and spruce forests.
Despite its quiet location, the chalet is located just below the ski resort of Le Corbier, the most challenging of Les Sybelles resorts, with all the associated entertainment benefits of its immense ski area. In summer, the chalet is within easy reach of a number of hiking trails in the Corbier and La Toussuire areas, and for the more active, there is the option of trekking up to Mont Charvin, where the views from the summit are spectacular, stretching from Mont Blanc to the Ecrins, from the Belledonne to Italy...
Chalet Bendo is designed to be both functional and atypical, with its original wood panelling ensuring that it retains its authentic charm. Whether it's after a day's skiing or hiking, or simply after strolling through the landscaped grounds, you can relax in the sauna or spa with the beauty of the landscape always in your sights.

We spent a few very pleasant days at Chalet Bento.
The chalet is superbly decorated, the jacuzzi on the terrace with mountain views is a magical moment.
The bedrooms are also tastefully decorated.
And the master bedroom has an extraordinary view of the mountains.
Jonathan, the owner, was very available and very kind to help us have the best possible stay.
There were 7 of us, and the whole chalet is very pleasant to live in and well organised.
We highly recommend this chalet, for its facilities, its peaceful location and the kindness and availability of the host.
