Samoëns village has been growing in popularity as a luxury ski holiday destination for many reasons. This traditional mountain village in the Giffre valley has seen plenty of investment over the past few years, which has led to an influx in wellness centres, public sports facilities and luxury chalets.
The traditional village centre has some superb bars, restaurants and shops, and is a popular lunch stop for skiers in the Grand Massif.
Transfer times from Geneva airport to the centre of Samoens are around an hour, with easy road access during the short section of road from the autoroute. Access to skiing couldn't be easier, with a free ski bus shuttling you directly to the speedy new Grand Massif Express telecabin. With the majority of ski pistes being north facing, snow conditions in Samoëns ski resort are excellent, with new snow staying powdery a little longer, which will please off-piste fanatics too.
With the right ski pass, you can enjoy the entire Grand Massif ski area, which takes in larger ski resort of Flaine as well as four other resorts. From the top of some ski lifts, you can enjoy stunning views of Mont Blanc. There are also bars and restaurants all over the ski area, as well as throughout the Giffre valley — in Samoëns, Morillon and Sixt Fer à Cheval, which are all nearby and easily accessible.
