Experience the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern elegance in this comfortable former barn for 9 people (7 adults), in the charming alpine village of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps.
Just 1.8km from La Grange Neuve, the Roc d'Enfer ski area has a ski school, an ice rink and 50km of slopes suitable for all levels. It's a quiet area for crowd-free skiing, but if you want more challenge, you can also get to the more famous resorts of the Portes du Soleil, including Morzine, in just 15 minutes.
In summer, the region is popular for cycling and hiking, as well as canoeing, climbing and via ferrata.
Saint-Jean-d'Aulps has a few restaurants and shops, including a supermarket. You will find more choice in Montriond (7km) and Morzine (9km).
About the property…
La Grange Neuve is a former Savoyard barn that has been tastefully renovated to accommodate up to 9 guests (7 adults). Many elements of the old framework have been preserved to give it its unique charm.
The entrance is through the ski room, which is equipped with a heated boot dryer. The spacious living area has comfortable seating with several armchairs and sofas, a TV and a wood-burning stove. The ultra-modern kitchen is fully equipped with three ovens, an induction hob and a central counter.
The dining table is large enough to seat your entire group, and you will also find a spacious wine cellar in the living room. Those who want to work remotely during their stay can do so at two desks.
The living area opens onto a covered terrace, equipped with a second dining table for outdoor meals together.
A double bedroom on this floor, which has an en-suite shower room and WC, also opens onto the terrace.
The upper floor of La Grange Neuve has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. A bright double bedroom has a private balcony as well as a bathroom with a walk-in shower, double washbasins and a superb freestanding copper bathtub.
A children's room has a set of bunk beds, a desk and a play area, while the third room has a large double bed that can be separated into two single beds, and a children's bed. These bedrooms share a shower room with WC.
On the practical side, you'll find a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer, a covered garage and an outdoor space for a second car, as well as a shaded garden with a picnic table.
About the area…
Guests staying at La Grange Neuve can enjoy a wide range of hiking, cycling and winter sports activities.
The Roc d'Enfer ski area offers 50 km of slopes, a ski school and an ice rink. For those who don't ski, the region offers many other winter activities, including snowmobiling, ice climbing, sledging, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, and two ice rinks in Morzine.
Outside the winter season, the region offers canoeing, go-karting, climbing, and via ferrata at the Rocher de la Chaux (4km), as well as a wealth of cycling and hiking trails. It's just a 15-minute walk to the enchanting ruins of Aulps Abbey, which sits in well-tended gardens.
The resorts of Morzine and Les Gets have been awarded the Famille Plus label for their programme of activities and facilities for children. These include water parks and summer toboggan runs. Indiana Parc offers tree-top assault courses, rafting and many more activities for all ages, while Parc des Dérêches has swimming pools, tennis courts, an ice rink, a skatepark and a horse-riding centre.

Soft colours and natural materials make the spacious living area the perfect place to relax. Sofas and armchairs are arranged around the TV and the wood-burning stove.
The modern kitchen, which has three ovens and an induction hob, makes it easy to cook for a large group, and there's room for everyone to eat together at the large dining table. The space is completed by a wine store and two offices for remote working.

We first came to Saint Jean d’Aulps over 20 years ago, drawn by our love of skiing, mountain life and the warm, authentic spirit of the village.
Our first home here was called La Grange Neuve, or The New Barn, and we’ve carried that name forward to this beautifully restored Savoyard barn that we now share with guests. Every beam and stone tells a story, and we’ve carefully preserved the original features to honour its alpine heritage while adding all the comforts of a modern mountain home.
From the sunny summer days to the snow-covered slopes of La Grande Terche, the views from the chalet never fail to inspire us. We fell in love with the peaceful setting of the village, yet it’s only a short walk to the local boulangerie for your morning baguette and croissants.
We hope that you feel the same sense of joy and belonging here that has kept us in Saint Jean d’Aulps all these years.
