Chalet Chantalhys
Enjoy the hot tub, the games room and the wonderful mountain views from this beautiful, contemporary chalet for 10 in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains.
Set on a hill overlooking the village and the mountains, the property is located a 2.5km drive (1.7km if you walk) from the centre of the resort and the ski lift. The ski bus stops just 50m from the chalet, so you'll have easy access to the resort and the lifts. The higher resort of Les Contamines is a 10-minute drive away and is worth exploring if snow is thin on the ground.
If you're visiting by car in winter, you'll need snow chains, winter tyres or ideally a 4x4, but you'll be rewarded with great views and superb skiing in every direction.
For the ultimate in pampering, head to the thermal centre at Saint-Gervais, where you can relax in the indoor and outdoor baths or enjoy a massage. The village also has a skating rink, a casino and a children's club.
Outside the ski season, there's just as much to do in this beautiful area, with a great choice of hiking and biking trails. Visit the Lac de Passy (10km) where you can swim, fish, windsurf, enjoy a walk or simply soak up the sun and the view of Mont Blanc.
About the property ...
Chalet Chantalhys is a modern, five-bedroom chalet with four bathrooms, a TV room and a playroom, set over three floors.
You'll enter on the ground floor, into a hallway with plenty of storage for outdoor clothes and equipment. The garage has been converted for bike and ski storage, and also has a laundry area, table football and darts.
There are two bedrooms on this floor - a double room and a twin room which leads into a TV room with a sofa and stools. It's the perfect hideout for children.These rooms share a shower room and a separate toilet.
The main living area is on the first floor. There's a well-equipped, open-plan kitchen with a breakfast bar as well as a bright and sunny dining area. Doors open from here on to the terrace, where you'll find seating, another dining table for al fresco meals, and the hot tub where you can sit and soak up the wonderful mountain views.
Back inside, there's a cosy seating area with leather sofas and chairs strewn with cushions and throws, as well as a TV area. There's also a double bedroom with an en suite shower room and separate WC.
There are two more bedrooms on the top floor, under the eaves. Both are doubles with en suite shower rooms, and the larger one also has sliding doors on to the balcony, where you can start your day with a coffee and some wonderful mountain air! There's also a separate WC on this floor and a playroom with stools, a games table and a television.
All of the bedrooms have plenty of storage and are individually decorated, some with murals inspired by nature and the mountains.
There's parking for several cars at the front of the chalet.
About the area ...
Saint Gervais, along with nearby Les Contamines, Combloux and Megève, are part of the Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area. For even more choice, it's a 30-minute drive to the Espace Diamant, which comprises Praz-sur-Arly, Bellecombe, Crest-Volant, Flumet, and Saisies.
Experienced skiers looking for some stunning night skiing should head for the Vallée Blanche - do hire a guide for this 23km run which, with a 2,000m drop, will take you from the Aiguille du Midi to the Mer de Glace, an almost surreal experience under a full moon.
For a change from skiing, why not try dog-sledding or snow-shoe walking, which are both available within a short drive of Chalet Chantalhys. For a little more adventure, why not try ice climbing, via ferrata or paragliding.
In the summer, the mountains become the domain of walkers and cyclists. There's so much to see in this varied landscape, explore the Argentière glacier or perhaps the Baroque footpath, a 20km trail from Combloux to Les Contamines-Montjoie, which takes you past some of the area's finest baroque buildings. Look out for marmots along the way!
Fancy a swim? Head for Lac de Passy where you can relax in the pure waters fed by mountain streams surrounded by wildflowers and stunning views of Mont Blanc. Take a picnic and relax while the kids enjoy the great play area. There's also a treetop adventure course, pedalos and mini-golf as well as windsurfing, paddle boarding and fishing - it's a great family day out.
An excursion to Mont Blanc is not to be missed - take the scenic Mont Blanc Tramway, a rack and pinion railway which will take you to the foot of the Bionnassay Glacier at a height of 2,372m.
And at the end of an exhilarating day, return to soak in the hot tub or enjoy a barbecue on your balcony at Chalet Chantalhys, and plan your next wonderful adventure in the mountains.

As the gateway to the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area, you’ve great access to more than 450km of well-groomed slopes, walking and bike trails, and at the end of the day you can unwind in the thermal baths, perhaps adding a spa treatment or two! Saint Gervais-les-Bains is a great choice for families too - the town has Famille Plus status, so there’s always something going on to keep children entertained.

Chalet Chantalhys is a three-storey contemporary chalet for 10 guests, with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. With a hot tub on the terrace, a playroom and a TV room for children, it has been well planned to cater for groups with children.
The two rooms on the ground floor share a shower room and separate toilet. One of these rooms is perfect for children, with twin beds and a separate TV room with a sofa and stools.
There's a double bedroom with an en suite shower room on the first floor, and two more on the top floor, under the eaves. One of these bedrooms has sliding doors to a balcony with wonderful views - the perfect place to start your day with a coffee! There's also a playroom on this floor with a television.
A spacious, open-plan living room has a cosy seating area with a TV at one end, so there is still plenty of room for quiet conversation. There are doors to the balcony, where you'll find the hot tub, a dining table and a seating area.
The entrance to the chalet is on the ground floor. There are plenty of cupboards in the hall for outdoor clothes and equipment, and the garage has been converted for bike and ski storage, as well as a laundry and games area.
There is no garden at Chalet Chantalhys, due to the steep slope, but there are balconies on the top two floors and a large flat parking area in front of the chalet.
Chalet Chantalhys is a great choice for a group with children, who will find plenty of spaces to do their own thing. Headroom is limited in some areas on the top floor, but the bedrooms are spacious and well-appointed, with plenty of storage.

We are a family of fiv eand have been spending our holidays in Saint-Gervais since we were children. Our children's earliest memories of this area are enjoying hikes, ski days and happy holidays together.
Chantalhys is a place where our fondest memories are forged and where every moment becomes a story to be told.
The location offers fantastic, uninterrupted views of Mont-Joly, the slopes of the Evasion Mont-Blanc ski area and the village with its majestic baroque church.
The village centre is within easy walking distance, although you'll need a car to take the family to the many daily activities available in the area. There are plenty of walks from the chalet, including the Motivon path, which leads directly to the Mont Blanc tramway station of the same name, which takes you to the Nid d'Aigle.
There's something for the more athletic and adventurous too - you're right on the Mont-Blanc route which will take you 12km further up! You may want to book a guide for this route, which you can start from the chalet.
Chalet Chantalhys is right on the edge of the forest, so you may be lucky enough to spot deer, roe deer or foxes foraging for food early in the morning.
And if you want to share your experiences with friends back at home, there is a high-speed internet connection to keep you connected to the rest of the world!
