Chalet Bolay ...
If you're hoping to spend your holiday exploring the wonderful Portes du Soleil area, Chalet Bolay is a great choice for you.
Situated in Montriond, you'll have access to great skiing both at Morzine and Avoriaz. In summer, Montriond's lake is popular for walks, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding, and there are wonderful footpaths nearby.
There are shops and restaurants in Montriond, but there's more choice in Morzine, just a five-minute drive away. The tourist office in Morzine also arranges a packed programme of entertainment, in both summer and winter.
There is plenty of parking at Chalet Bolay, but if you'd rather not use your car, the ski bus stops at the end of the drive, taking you to both Morzine and the Ardent lift for Avoriaz.
About the property ...
Accommodation at Chalet Bolay is set over three floors. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, there's plenty of room for up to eight guests.
You'll enter from the terrace on the ground floor, where you'll find the well-equipped kitchen and a utility room. There's also a useful TV room with a desk area and doors to the balcony.
The cosy living / dining area is also on this floor - there's room for everyone to eat at the dining table, and after your meal, you can relax on the sofas in front of the fire. There are doors from the living area to the furnished terrace and from there to the large, flat garden - a great place for children to play or perhaps for a barbecue on a summer's evening.
Chalet Bolay has four good-sized bedrooms, three of which can be arranged with either twin beds or a large double bed; with the master suite having a king size bed. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, including the master suite, which has an en suite bath and shower room, and a room with access to a balcony. The second bedroom also has access to a balcony with lovely mountain views. There's also a bathroom with a bath and separate shower, and a separate WC.
The fourth double bedroom is on the lower ground floor, along with a separate shower room with WC. There's also a games room, where you can challenge each other to darts or table tennis - a great place for younger guests to hang out while the adults relax upstairs.
There's access to the garage and ski room from this floor too.
About the area ...
Chalet Bolay is perfectly situated between the resorts of Morzine, Montriond and Les Gets, giving you great access to all of the Portes du Soleil resorts in France and Switzerland. With 650km of pistes, there is plenty of scope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.
It’s also worth the five-minute drive to Mont Chery, a standalone mountain with great off piste, where you’ll get some fabulous views of Mont Blanc and, if you’re early, plenty of fresh powder.
If you’re not a skier, Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which are often host to ice hockey matches, and the local cinema shows films in English. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area’s frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride.
Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park in Morzine offers a variety of activities for all ages.
Summer in the Alps is very special. The snowy slopes are replaced by lush green pastures, which become a haven for cyclists, walkers, mountain bikers and thrill-seekers.
For cyclists, the famous Col de Joux Verte route runs straight past the end of the road, and a number of mountain climbs included in the Tour de France are right on your doorstep. In July, the iconic Tour de France regularly runs through Morzine. For mountain bike enthusiasts, the World Cup Mountain Biking championships are held in Les Gets each year, and the extensive Portes du Soleil chair lift system which transports mountain bikers in the summer, makes this one of Europe's top mountain biking destinations.
The lifts will transport you and your bike up the mountains, so you can come back down at your leisure. Take a picnic, and make a day of it! Morzine has earned Famille Plus status for its excellent childcare and entertainment — the perfect choice for young families.
Just a few minutes from Chalet Bolay is Lake Montriond, where you’ll find gentle lakeside walks, pony rides and a hike to the impressive Brochaux waterfalls.
There are superb water parks in Morzine and Avoriaz, as well as two summer sledging runs, while the Indiana adventure park has a range of assault courses to suit all ages. Golfers will find excellent courses in Les Gets and Avoriaz.
Other activities include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, fishing, kayaking hiking. You can also take advantage of the Portes du Soleil Multi Pass, offering unrestricted access to the full range of family activities for a small daily fee.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Bolay is a three-storey chalet for eight guests, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
We love the fact that three of the bedrooms can be arranged with twin beds or large doubles, according to your requirements, making it a great choice for a family gathering or a group of friends.
The shared spaces are very flexible too, with a living dining area where you can all get together, as well as a TV room and a separate games room. This way, those who want to relax and chat are not disturbed by those who want to watch television, or by those who just want to let off steam over a game of table tennis.
Unusually, the kitchen is separate from the main living area, keeping the noise and smells of cooking apart. There's also a separate utility room where you can leave all of your outdoor gear.
The large flat garden at Chalet Bolay is a real bonus in this Alpine area. In summer, there's plenty of room for children to run around and in winter, it's a great place for a snowball fight! There's also a furnished terrace where you can enjoy an outdoor meal in the summer.
Chalet Bolay is in a great location, just a short drive from the shops, bars and restaurants of Morzine, but also close to the peaceful Lake Montriond, where you can enjoy family walks, kayak, or perhaps just have a long lunch overlooking the water. The Brochaux falls are worth a visit, as is the village of Lindarets, where flocks of goats roam the streets and can be hand-fed.

From the owner

Patricia & Edwin
We fell in love with Morzine – and Montriond in particular – six years ago when we had an amazing family holiday exploring the mountains on bike and foot. Our son, Bo, insisted on coming back the following year for the mountain biking and we have since returned every summer.
Montriond is our ideal Alpine destination as it is a pretty, peaceful village with its own shops and restaurants, but is still within walking distance of Morzine and close to all the action that Portes du Soleil has to offer.
For us, a holiday in Montriond has always been about the summer activities. Whilst the Portes du Soleil is incredible for skiing and snowboarding, the long summer days in the mountains are hard to beat.
For a bike-obsessed family, the MTB-friendly lifts and breath-taking mountain passes make this the ideal location for both road cycling and mountain biking.
Our perfect day would start with waking up to the sound of the Montriond church bells ringing in the distance, and Ed fetching freshly-baked croissants and bread for breakfast.
After catching the chair lifts to the top of the mountains, a morning of mountain biking or hiking would be followed by lunch at one of the mountain-top restaurants or back down in Morzine, where, happily, even coffee-obsessed vegans are spoilt for choice. A few more hours up the mountains would be followed by cooling off in the beautiful Montriond lake or the Morzine swimming pool.
The evening would be spent with a relaxing BBQ on the balcony or a picnic at Les Gets lake watching children jumping around on the Wibit whilst the sun sets behind the mountains.
We hope that you too will enjoy your time in Montriond - whether in summer or winter - and have the opportunity to make some magical memories.

“A paradise!”
A paradise. Perfect week at chalet bolay. Location just perfect for every activity and amenity. House ideal - loads of space even with a large group (really three large living spaces indoor + terrace and garden + sperate large lower floor play/hang out space for kids our adolescents). Has everything and bright, spacious, clean, well appointed. So many things to do in the area we could have found new things many time over: canyoning, cycling, swimming in the beautiful lac (every day) and river all on the doorstep. Various Stunning walks on the frontier with Switzerland easily accessed via (cheap) chairlifts. Also did a challenging via ferrata. I can only imagine how great it is skiing in all that beauty in winter. But also within a few minutes drive doorstep are the really nice restaurants and useful supermarkets and pharmacy. So you feel remote but can both access all activities and the town in minutes. Hard to see how it could be any more perfect. We all loved it. Honestly the first holiday in years our daughter wanted to stay longer on rather than get back to her friends! Loved it.
“We look forward to coming back to this lovely chalet”
We really appreciated a lot our stay at Chalet Bolay, so pleasant and well located Chalet in Montriond.
“Perfect mountain getaway”
The chalet was great: everything we needed was available. The kitchen was well equipped, very comfortable beds, a nice game room with a big television, a lovely living room, and a terrace where we could enjoy meals in the beautiful weather... Everything was very clean.
Also ideal for small children: the garden was enclosed and the street had a dead end (very quiet). The communication with the manager Kate, was perfect.
