Overview
You can ski right back to this charming ski chalet for 12, which is right by the Bouchet ski lift in the centre of Morzine. Just leave your ski equipment at the chalet and head out for the evening - there's a great choice of bars and restaurants within an easy walk.
If you don't fancy going out, you can relax in the sauna or the outdoor hot tub overlooking the slopes, while the children enjoy tobogganing in the garden.
Decorated in a cosy mountain style, there's always a warm welcome when you return to Chalet Les Ecureuils after a snowy day in the mountains.
The Portes du Soleil is a great summer destination too, with plenty of trails for walkers, hikers and bikers. And with such a central location you won't need to worry about your car - just park it up in the garage and forget about it!
About the property
Chalet Les Ecureuils sleeps up to 12 guests (10 adults, two children) in five en suite bedrooms, arranged over three floors.
As you enter on the lower ground floor, you'll find the garage and ski room, a useful laundry room and a relaxation room with the sauna and a toilet. There are two bedrooms on this floor - a twin bedroom with an en suite shower room and a double room with a bathroom and shower.
The living area on the next floor opens on to a furnished balcony which looks on to the mountain and the garden. A cosy seating area is separated from the well-equipped kitchen and dining area by a central fireplace. You'll get French and English channels on the television, and there's also an office area and table football.
There's a double bedroom on this floor, with an en suite shower room and a separate toilet.
The final two bedrooms are on the top floor - a double bedroom with an en suite shower room, and a family bedroom with a double bed and and two single beds. This room has an en suite shower room.
About the area
You can explore the whole of the Portes du Soleil ski area from this ski-in, ski-out chalet in the heart of Morzine. You can even ski in to Switzerland, but be warned, only the most accomplished skiers should tackle the Swiss Wall - a huge mogul field which is classified as an orange route - too hazardous for a black! But with 650km of pistes, there is plenty of scope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.
If you’re not a skier, Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which host ice hockey matches from time to time, and the local cinema often shows films in English. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area’s frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride.
Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park offers a variety of activities for all ages.
In summer, the area is a great destination for an outdoor holiday. Walking, hiking and biking trails crisscross the mountains, and you can save your legs by taking the lift to the top and enjoying a leisurely descent.
You can swim, canoe or paddle board at nearby Lake Montriond, or just enjoy a gentle walk around its shores before lunch at the restaurant.
