Please note : the drive to the chalet is quite steep, every effort will be made to have it cleared of snow on arrival and departure days, be aware you may need to leave your car at the bottom of the drive and walk up. Furthermore, the shed (mazot) by the parking belongs to a neighbouring farmer, who needs occasional access to the equipment within all year round. Please do not park in front of it.
IMPORTANT - Due to the harsh Alpine weather, the summer deck furniture (including the angled parasols), is not available from the end of the October/ November French school holidays, until the end of April. Instead, we provide all-weather seating plus a picnic table with benches for guests to use.
For guest safety, the table tennis table and trampoline are not available from the end of the October/ November school holidays, until the end of April.

About Chalet Morclan ...
You’ll struggle to take your eyes off the incredible views from Chalet Morclan near Manigod - La Clusaz. The large private terraces on two sides of the house are the perfect place from which to admire the mountains of the Manigod valley - Etale, the Aiguille de Manigod, Mont Charvin, Val Sulens, and La Tournette.
Sitting on the crest of a hill, this 4 star chalet enjoys total privacy. It is reached by a lane which is kept clear of snow, but the 100m drive can be tricky to negotiate in winter - visitors may need to leave the car at the bottom and walk the last bit to be on the safe side! But it’s absolutely worth the effort.
There’s a narrow rural path at the back which is occasionally used by local farmers to bring sheep and felled trees down from the higher pastures, but apart from that you’ll enjoy splendid isolation.
Steep steps to the house and the open tread of the staircase mean it is not suitable for those with limited mobility or very small children, but groups with older children will love the homely touches such as books, games and, in the garden, a trampoline and a table tennis table. For guest safety, the table tennis table and trampoline are not available from the end of the October/ November school holidays, until the end of April. The owners also switch the outdoor furniture over seasonally, so that the summer furniture is not destroyed by the harsh Alpine winters, while ensuring guests still have somewhere to sit and enjoy the views, a coffee or lunch out of doors all year round.
Chalet Morclan is just 3km from the beautiful village of Manigod, where the church often hosts concerts and organ recitals as well as mass. You'll also find a bar/restaurant, a bakery, pottery shop, hairdressers, craft shop, health spa and a physio clinic in Manigod.
About the property ...
Groups of up to eight (max 6 adults) will find plenty of space in this well-planned chalet.
The entrance hall leads to a well-equipped kitchen and a bright and spacious living/dining room. Two comfortable sofas and two large pouffes surround an open fire and the dining table has plenty of room for everyone to eat together.
There's a music system and the television offers a choice of French and English channels, but in good weather, open the doors on to the large terrace and eat outside so that you can enjoy the fabulous views.
There's a large double bedroom on this floor, which opens on to another sunny terrace and has an en suite shower room and an independent toilet. The double bed can be separated in to two single beds, and there's a sofa which is the perfect place to grab a quiet moment with a good book. Also on this floor is a separate toilet and a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer - the underfloor heating makes this a great place to hang up your outdoor clothes so that they are warm and dry for the next day.
There are four more bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room as well as a dressing room. The large double bed can be split into two singles and there are doors on to the sunny balcony. Next door is another large room which has a second lounge area with a sofa. There is also a TV and a huge selection of books, as well as a double bed (also twinable) and storage. It's a great place for children to hang out while the adults have dinner.
There are two more single bedrooms for children and a large family bathroom with a corner bath.
The bedding is all good quality, with lots of throws to keep you snug on the coldest of nights. Outside there's plenty of parking space as well as a small flat garden with a trampoline and table tennis (summer only). The large south and east facing furnished terrace is home to the hot tub, where you can soak up the sun from sunrise to sunset.
About the area ...
When you stay at Chalet Morclan you're right in the heart of some great skiing, without the hustle and bustle of the purpose-built ski resorts.
Parking is free at the Croix Fry sector of the La Clusaz pistes (altitude 1500m), 10km away, and the ski bus stops in Manigod, just 3km away. There's an ESF base, and parents can enjoy lunch or a drink while youngsters build confidence on the nursery slopes.
From here, your Aravis/La Clusaz ski pass gives you access to 95 lifts and 220km of pistes, so there's plenty of scope for skiers of every level.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails to choose from on the nearby Beauregard plateau, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink and cinema at La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
In the summer, you can explore the mountains and the pine forests by foot or by bike (if you are super-fit) from Chalet Morclan, and the half-hour walks into Manigod village are downhill on the way but uphill on the way back!
There are quite a few marked footpaths criss-crossing this beautiful farming valley, but if you want to make the most of the altitude, put your bike on the ski lift at La Clusaz and come back down at your own pace, or pack a picnic and explore the Beauregard plateau.
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is another great family day out, with adults and children able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness. Why not go on a donkey trek in the Col des Aravis with a picnic in the large baskets carried by the donkeys?
Annecy is a great destination for a day out. Only 30 minutes away by car, there's a beautiful medieval town and canals to explore as well as the lake, where you can try a range of watersports, enjoy a cruise, hire a boat or just have a lazy day on the beach.
if Chalet Morclan sounds like the perfect base for your family holiday in the Alps, why not check your dates against our calendar? If you need some more time, we can hold the dates for you for 24 hours. But don't leave it too long - Chalet Morclan is a popular choice with OVO Network guests.

The OVO Network Review
“Chalet Morclan sits on the crest of a hill and enjoys exceptional, virtually 360 degree panoramic views of the beautiful Manigod valley.”
Chalet Morclan is a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom chalet for 8 (max 6 adults) spread over 2 floors and 180m2 of floor space.
Guests at Chalet Morclan vary from couples who want a base from which to explore this beautiful corner of the Alps, to families wanting to spend quality time together, to sports fans itching to experience or observe the vast array of local sporting possibilities and events, all year round. A stay at the chalet enables guests to combine enjoying peace and quiet, stunning views, and opportunities to observe wildlife up close and personnal, with proximity to a great ski resort set in the heart of the Aravis mountains, just a short drive away, and the fabulous Lake Annecy and Annecy itself a little further.
It's no wonder guests frequently return to Chalet Morclan!
Chalet Morclan sits on the crest of a hill and therefore has amazing, virtually 360 degree panaormic views. Summer and winter enjoy the views of the beautiful Manigod valley from the large deck area which wraps around two sides of the chalet.
Follow the sunshine, with a different view for each meal! There is a flat garden above the chalet with trampoline and table tennis table. The hot tub sits at one end of the deck, so that guests can appreciate the scenery while relaxing in the bubbles.
Furnishings, soft furnishings and deco are changed regularly, equipment, games, books etc are also checked and updated often to ensure guests enjoy a fresh and clean holiday experience. There is an open fire in the lounge, and the largest bedroom upstairs also has a TV and seating, meaning guests can spread out if they so wish.
As Chalet Morclan is a "Cool 4 Kids" property, families with young children don't need to travel with extra kit! Pets are welcome too. A welcome gouter / apero is provided on arrival.
All this underinned and overseen by a fabulous, attentive yet discrete manager, and a hard working chalet team.
NB Every effort is made to keep the tarmacked drive clear during the winter, there is a parking space at the bottom if guests prefer to park and walk up.

From the owner
...there was the fabulous view...that still makes me catch my breath today, more than 20 years later.
We almost missed Manigod completely! Having decided to take a last-minute summer holiday with friends, we narrowed our choice to two possible locations: a villa in Veyrier-Du-Lac, or an old farm in Manigod.
We chose Manigod and several weeks later found ourselves taking the left turn just a couple of kilometres beyond Thones. The road began to climb until there was a break in the trees and suddenly there it was, that brief view of Etale before the road twisted.
Another tantalising glimpse followed a little further on until eventually we rounded another bend and there was the fabulous view of the village framed by the mountain background that still makes me catch my breath today, more than 20 years later.
The Manigod valley is spectacular, no matter what the season.
We signed for the chalet that summer, and made a couple of short visits during the autumn to find the valley totally transformed from lush green to autumnal hues. The cows and goats were down from the high pastures dotted around the valley at various farms.
When we returned at Christmas, the valley had become a winter sports paradise, blanketed in thick snow. The Aravis mountains are not the highest peaks in the Alps by any means, but there is plenty of interesting, picturesque and varied skiing to suit all levels.
At Easter we collected the keys for the chalet in bright sunshine. A couple of days later we skied at Balme in the morning before watching Le Défi Foly (an end of season competition which involves sliding down the mountain and across an icy lake) at Confins in the afternoon.
Our visits that first year set the tone for what was to follow: the valley is different with each season and life here has a calm timeless quality. The local communities respect and promote the traditions that have given the valleys their individual characters and flavours.
The pastures cows graze on transform into busy ski fields each winter. Tradition meets modern life, high-energy activity meets peace and quiet.
Our children have played on the playground at the village school in temperatures ranging from minus 20 to 40 degrees!
Chalet Morclan is on a crest, which means we enjoy almost panoramic views framed by Etale, Val Sulens, Tournette and the road up towards the Col de la Croix Fry. You could not wish to be in a more spectacular mountain setting, and yet we are just 30 minutes away from the lake with the medieval walled city of Annecy just beyond. Geneva airport is an hour away.
The chalet is a comfortable base in a beautiful setting - a home ideal for sharing with friends and family. Comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms and hot water, a spacious terrace, and glorious views from each window.
We hope you enjoy spending time in this stunning space - take time to recharge your batteries, appreciate your surroundings, slow your pace, breathe and enjoy, before setting off on whichever type of mountain or lake adventure calls to you.

“After a good hike, we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub”
Fantastic chalet in a fantastic location. We did not know about this area before we booked for a hiking holiday and we were absolutely impressed with the amount of hiking trails available. The chalet itself is really comfortable but the main attraction is the veranda! The views are just stunning and after a good hike we enjoyed coming back and relaxing in the hot tub and spending time outside. Very comfortable garden seating/sun beds and eating areas made this a really good chill time! Everything else is as stated in the chalet info and the kitchen is really well equipped. Would highly recommend!

Perfect chalet for a nice family vacation. It's beautiful, comfortable and well decorated. We enjoyed the large family living-room, the top quality bedding, the impeccable cleanliness, the large terrace, the jacuzzi and the ping-pong table. The view is incredible and makes you feel "lost" in the mountains.

“An unforgettable holiday”
We had a marvellous holiday. The chalet is extremely well equipped, and the elegant decor is like something out of Elle magazine. The location is exceptional, with a breathtaking view of the Aravis. We enjoyed the autumnal scenery in sunshine and warm temperatures. We loved the various hikes that were suggested (beware - they can be steep!) and then relaxed in the hot tub as the sun set over the mountains. The welcome from Corinne was super, and she was always available to help. Thanks to Karen, too, for the delicacies and the Savoyard specialities that she left for us. Everything was perfect and we'll never forget the holiday.

“A fantastic week with the family”
We had a really lovely week at Chalet Morclan. It's beautifully decorated and every room is charming and well equipped. The whole is contemporary with a warm and personal touch. The view from the terrace is superb, we never tired of it. We were really grateful for Corinne's kindness and professionalism, which made us feel at ease as soon as we got there. The hot tub is great for the cooler evenings. This was my first holiday in the mountains, and we had a small child. This experience made me want to spend more time in this area. Thank you for this wonderful holiday.

Our warmest thanks for a wonderful week. The views were spectacular, especially on the balcony table area. The trampoline and table tennis have well used and had a lovely touch to this lovely experience for the family. It was great to lounge about in the hot tub and gaze at the stars. We were incredibly lucky to stay in a chalet so well located next to popular destinations such as Annecy or La Clusaz.

“Fantastic holiday and great skiing”
Such a great time we've had!The chalet and Tim and Karen are amazing. The views are absolutely breathtaking. We would like to come back in summertime. The slopes at Merdassier are fantastic for beginners, my skiing has improved so much! The chalet is great for family and friends as it is big enough to give everyone enough space. La Clusaz is great for a night outside, and with a few shops to buy souvenirs. An evening in the jacuzzi looking at the views and the stars is a must!
