Please note: Etale is a ground floor apartment in the converted farmhouse Chalet Meridien. There is another apartment (Tournette) on the first floor. Larger groups can rent both together and there are two dining tables in Tournette which can be fitted together with enough chairs so that groups of up to 21 people can eat together in one space.
Chalet Etale, in keeping with the style of local properties of this age, has low ceilings and small windows.

About Chalet Le Meridien Etale ...
Chalet Le Meridien Etale is the perfect place to immerse yourself in Savoyard life.
This traditional Alpine property takes up the lower two floors of a superbly restored chalet, with furniture and finishing touches chosen carefully to reflect its location.
Sleeping 10, it can also be rented together with Chalet Le Meridien Tournette, on the floor above, to accommodate up to 21, although both properties are self-contained, have their own entrances, parking and outdoor spaces, and are sound insulated.
The property is just a short walk from Manigod village, where you can pick up fresh bread from the boulangerie or enjoy a traditional meal at Val Sulens restaurant, and is perfectly placed to enjoy all the activities the La Clusaz area has to offer.
The property ...
You'll appreciate the comfort and warmth of Chalet Le Meridien Etale when you return to it after an energetic day in the mountains.
The door opens straight in to the fabulous farmhouse kitchen, with a range-style double oven and a huge pine table, where everybody can get together for a fondue or a raclette and discuss the highlights of the day. In good weather, there's a large covered terrace with a big dining table, so you can all eat al fresco, and there is also a new enclosed games room with table tennis and table football.
After dinner, retire to the cosy living room, with its woodburning stove, to continue the conversation, or the separate TV room - there's a place for everyone.
On a clear night, you'll love to sit out on the large south-facing balcony and watch for shooting stars, perhaps before heading to the terrace for a hot tub session, or downstairs for a sauna to ease aching limbs.
Chalet Le Meridien Etale sleeps 11, in four comfortable bedrooms. There are two double rooms, a family room with a double and a single bed, and a children's room with two sets of bunk beds. There's a shower room on the main floor and a bathroom on the lower floor with the sauna and laundry room.
About the area ...
Chalet Le Meridien Etale is just a few minutes' drive from the Croix Fry ski station, so you'll be able to make the most of every minute on the slopes.
Parking there is free, but if you don't want to take the car, the ski bus stops just 100m from your door. From Croix Fry, your Aravis ski pass covers 220km of slopes and 95 lifts, from La Clusaz to Le Grand Bornand.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails on the nearby Beauregard plateau, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with an ice skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
For the ultimate relaxation, let your cares float away at the heated indoor/outdoor pool at La Clusaz, as the snow falls gently around you!
In summer, just as in winter, the fun centres around Chalet Le Meridien Etale's stunning Alpine location.
Explore the mountains on foot, either from the door, or take the ski lift to higher altitudes and come back down at your own pace. You can take your bike too - pick up a route of graded mountain bike trails at the tourist office in La Clusaz. Gentler walking and glorious views can be found on the Beauregard plateau - take a picnic and plenty of water!
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Adventure parks at Le Grand Bornand and Thônes provide tree-top fun for all ages.
A day out to the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy is a must. Explore the shops and museums in the morning, lunch at a lakeside restaurant, and you've got the rest of the day to swim in the crystal-clear waters, hire a boat or try some of the water sports on offer.
If you would rather stay closer to home you will really appreciate the spacious covered games room with table tennis and table football.
If you would like to book Chalet Le Meridien Etale for your mountain holiday, check our calendar to see when it is available. We can hold dates for you for 24 hours if you need some time to discuss it with the rest of your party. But don't leave it too long - Chalet Etale and the neighbouring Chalet Tournette are very popular with OVO Network guests.

The OVO Network Review
“Chalet le Meridien is a farm conversion with a difference!”
From the outside Chalet le Meridien looks like some of the other south-facing converted farms in the Manigod valley, but Chalet le Meridien is a farm conversion with a difference!
With magnificent views over the nearby village to the splendid mountains beyond, a quick glance at the websites for each of the two apartments within, reveal Tournette is a contemporary, light-flooded 205m2 space for 10 people, with 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms, whereas Etale, is a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment for 11 people, with a more traditional cosy feel, lower ceilings, and smaller windows.
With 165m2 of space, Etale is spread over two floors, the living spaces and bedrooms are on the main floor, then a family bathroom, the sauna, and the laundry area are located on the basement level.
Together these two apartments can accommodate up to 21 people in 8 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms. All 21 guests can eat together in the large dining space at Tournette, there are enough chairs, tables, crockery, cutlery, glassware etc for all.
Depending on the intended meals, both oven/ food prep areas/ fridges may or may not be required !
Both four star apartments have wood burning stoves, and indoor saunas. Out of doors both apartments have their own Scandinavian hot tubs.
Both have independent terraces well stocked with outdoor furniture, both have gardens, and independent car parking spaces. There is good sound proofing between the floors, the only time you may be aware of your neighbours is if you are both using the south facing balconies at the same time.
If you prefer not to be overlooked, the other outdoor terraces are more private.
Indoors, Tournette has side zones off the main communal space for watching TV, listening to music or reading, a home office area, and laundry area.
Etale has a fabulous indoor games area with table tennis and bar football, plus a dormitory room with two sets of bunk beds. There is a double lounge around the wood-burning stove, a separate TV room, and a combined kitchen /dining room.
Please refer to the floor plans for more details. Both properties are well set up for multi-generational groups or groups of friends, work colleagues or a great big family!
Which style would you and your group prefer? The choice is yours!

Our first visit to the Manigod/ La Clusaz area, was 18 years ago, when we came to spend a summer holiday beside beautiful lake Annecy.
We not only wanted to enjoy the lake but also to walk in the surrounding mountains. That’s why we went to Manigod and La Clusaz, and discovered that it wasn’t only the lake that was fantastic but also this beautiful valley nestled in the heart of the French Alps.
There was definitely something special about the area, something of “old Europe”, meaning no high-rise buildings, only lovely wooden chalets.
This was exactly the kind of ski resort we were looking for, the kind you don’t come across very often these days. This was the perfect place for us! That is how we immediately fell in love with this part of the Aravis mountain range.
We decided that the area was a fantastic place to invest in a second home, where we could spend winter and summer holidays. We were lucky enough to find a lovely chalet near Thônes but as our family grew bigger, with friends of our children often joining us for holidays, we decided after seven years to sell our first chalet and finally found our current chalet “Le Méridien”.
We knew by now that this was the ideal area for us, for summer and ski seasons. The Méridien was exactly the kind of chalet we had in mind with traditional features, wooden beams, open fire etc.
First we worked on the downstairs apartment , which is now called “Chalet L’Etale” and later we converted the attic to make the the upstairs apartment, “Chalet Tournette”.
As half of our family are snowboarders and the rest skiers, our favourite ski area is “Croix Fry” (Manigod) From there we often leave on a daytrip on the slopes, meeting up later at “Chez Fon Fon” , a lovely little cafe/ restaurant on the slopes where we can warm up around traditional dishes like fondue and raclette.
The view over the mountains from Merdassier and Croix Fry is absolutely breathtaking.
The ski bus is about 100 meters away from the chalet, which is quite convenient if one of us wants to leave or come back earlier. We have had so many memorable holidays here, especially now that both apartments are finished: it means we can easily accommodate up to 20+ people without feeling crowded.
We love to have walks from the chalet into the mountains, whether it is in summer or in wintertime, before gathering together and sharing dinner and stories sitting at the long table together.
In summer we love to go swimming in the lake Annecy, the cleanest lake in Europe. We enjoy sailing as well, which allows us to take a dip in the middle of the lake, far from the crowds, before stopping for a meal in one of the restaurants on the lake’s shore.
Our favourite is Restaurant “ La Guinguette”, just outside Talloires, with its old-fashioned romantic atmosphere. In a few words, Manigod is just the right hideaway for our family to get away from our busy daily life.
We hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do.

“We had a good ski holiday.”
The chalet was spacious and comfortable. We recommend improving the lighting. Also be aware that one of the bathrooms is located dowstairs near the sauna.

“Beautiful chalet with an authentic feel.”
If visiting for skiing, make sure to have your own vehicle. It is manageable with the Ski bus certainly, but with a car you will have no problem at all.

“A great stay with my friends”
If the chalet can sometimes feel less bright compared to the photos, it is still super clean and cosy. The Scandinavian bath is a big plus, so be patient during the heating of the water: it's well worth it!

“A spacious chalet in a good location”
Wonderful stay in a beautiful valley. The chalet is very comfortable (spacious, functional, cosy, hot tub). The sauna was a bit small for our taste. Very punctual and available manager.

An authentic chalet, where everyone found his own space. Beautiful views from the different terraces. Well equipped. Thank you Laetitia (the manager) for your warm welcome and kindness.

“Great to get away from it all!”
We had a nice stay at Chalet Etale and enjoyed the games / toys available for the children , the ping pong table and the numerous walks from the door of the property.
— Mickael D. May 2020
We got a code to a padlock which gave us the key. That was all that was required as a checkin. There was some apple juice and authentic pate set ready for us which was a nice suprise. Very nice looking wooden chalet with 3 indoor hangout places. The couches and chairs are very comfy. Lots of lights that can be turned on or off allow you to make the rooms feel romantic, cozy or active. The wooden stove is great and really adds to the experience. The hottub takes some time to setup, since its also powered by a wooden fire, but its fun chopping wood and preparing it. The view from this chalet is amazing!
— Esther Z. Sep 2019
“Super chalet, super welcome”

“Lovely place, great area”
Thank you for a lovely few weeks in Manigod. The apartment is nice and the views into the valley are delightful. The apartment is wonderfully located and we had a memorable 3 weeks in the Alps. La Clusaz has all you need in a summer mountain resort, the area is not overly touristy, there are wonderful walking trails in every direction. Thônes is close enough and large enough for provisioning. Laetitia the manager who looks after the apartment is charming and the apartment was spotlessly presented. Special thanks to her!
— Nicola S. Jul 2018
We had an excellent week in this beautiful chalet. The place is full of character and the decor is superb. We really liked the indoor spaces as well as the huge kitchen with a table for more than 10 people. The concierge service was another bonus: for example, when we arrived the food we had ordered was all in the fridge. We loved the old renovated side of the chalet.
— Béatrice H. Jun 2018
“We had a wonderful time in this beautiful chalet!”
Great view, nice furniture, perfect hiking paths that start right in front of the house and not to forget the hot tub - perfect to be used at night to watch the stars.

The interior decoration, the comfort, the view... everything was perfect!

“A really lovely holiday”
The chalet is really lovely: clean and with all the equipment you need for a perfect holiday. Laetitia welcomed us and gave us all the information we needed. We were very satisfied, thank you.
— David D. Mar 2018
“Very well planned for a large family”
A magnificent holiday in this chalet, which is well thought-out for a large family. Thanks to Laetitia, the manager, for her welcome, her enthusiasm and for answering our emails so quickly. This is a typical chalet, and we appreciated having plenty of smaller rooms where you can find peace and quiet in the midst of a large group of 11 people.
— Michele M. Feb 2018
“A comfortable and authentic chalet”
A lovely chalet which is well-equipped and comfortable. We loved the authentic style. We also enjoyed being close to a farm where we could buy cheese. We found that the chalet was a little far from the pistes and the ski bus was a bit infrequent.
— Camille T. Jan 2018
“An excellent stay”
Everything was just as described on the website. Well done for the arrival and departure procedures, which were quick and user-friendly. We will certainly be back.
— Didier L. Jan 2018
