About Chalet Le Meridien Etale ...
Chalet Le Meridien Etale is the perfect place to immerse yourself in Savoyard life.
This traditional Alpine property takes up the lower two floors of a superbly restored chalet, with furniture and finishing touches chosen carefully to reflect its location.
Sleeping 10, it can also be rented together with Chalet Le Meridien Tournette, on the floor above, to accommodate up to 21, although both properties are self-contained, have their own entrances, parking and outdoor spaces, and are sound insulated.
The property is just a short walk from Manigod village, where you can pick up fresh bread from the boulangerie or enjoy a traditional meal at Val Sulens restaurant, and is perfectly placed to enjoy all the activities the La Clusaz area has to offer.
The property ...
You'll appreciate the comfort and warmth of Chalet Le Meridien Etale when you return to it after an energetic day in the mountains.
The door opens straight in to the fabulous farmhouse kitchen, with a range-style double oven and a huge pine table, where everybody can get together for a fondue or a raclette and discuss the highlights of the day. In good weather, there's a large covered terrace with a big dining table, so you can all eat al fresco, and there is also a new enclosed games room with table tennis and table football.
After dinner, retire to the cosy living room, with its woodburning stove, to continue the conversation, or the separate TV room - there's a place for everyone.
On a clear night, you'll love to sit out on the large south-facing balcony and watch for shooting stars, perhaps before heading to the terrace for a hot tub session, or downstairs for a sauna to ease aching limbs.
Chalet Le Meridien Etale sleeps 11, in four comfortable bedrooms. There are two double rooms, a family room with a double and a single bed, and a children's room with two sets of bunk beds. There's a shower room on the main floor and a bathroom on the lower floor with the sauna and laundry room.
About the area ...
Chalet Le Meridien Etale is just a few minutes' drive from the Croix Fry ski station, so you'll be able to make the most of every minute on the slopes.
Parking there is free, but if you don't want to take the car, the ski bus stops just 100m from your door. From Croix Fry, your Aravis ski pass covers 220km of slopes and 95 lifts, from La Clusaz to Le Grand Bornand.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails on the nearby Beauregard plateau, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with an ice skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
For the ultimate relaxation, let your cares float away at the heated indoor/outdoor pool at La Clusaz, as the snow falls gently around you!
In summer, just as in winter, the fun centres around Chalet Le Meridien Etale's stunning Alpine location.
Explore the mountains on foot, either from the door, or take the ski lift to higher altitudes and come back down at your own pace. You can take your bike too - pick up a route of graded mountain bike trails at the tourist office in La Clusaz. Gentler walking and glorious views can be found on the Beauregard plateau - take a picnic and plenty of water!
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Adventure parks at Le Grand Bornand and Thônes provide tree-top fun for all ages.
A day out to the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy is a must. Explore the shops and museums in the morning, lunch at a lakeside restaurant, and you've got the rest of the day to swim in the crystal-clear waters, hire a boat or try some of the water sports on offer.
If you would rather stay closer to home you will really appreciate the spacious covered games room with table tennis and table football.
If you would like to book Chalet Le Meridien Etale for your mountain holiday, check our calendar to see when it is available. We can hold dates for you for 24 hours if you need some time to discuss it with the rest of your party. But don't leave it too long - Chalet Etale and the neighbouring Chalet Tournette are very popular with OVO Network guests.

There was something special about the area, something of "old Europe"; no high-rise buildings, only lovely wooden chalets
Our first visit to the Manigod/ La Clusaz area, was 18 years ago, when we came to spend a summer holiday beside beautiful lake Annecy.
We not only wanted to enjoy the lake but also to walk in the surrounding mountains. That’s why we went to Manigod and La Clusaz, and discovered that it wasn’t only the lake that was fantastic but also this beautiful valley nestled in the heart of the French Alps. There was definitely something special about the area, something of “old Europe”, meaning no high-rise buildings, only lovely wooden chalets.
This was exactly the kind of ski resort we were looking for, the kind you don’t come across very often these days. This was the perfect place for us! That is how we immediately fell in love with this part of the Aravis mountain range.
We decided that the area was a fantastic place to invest in a second home, where we could spend winter and summer holidays. We were lucky enough to find a lovely chalet near Thônes but as our family grew bigger, with friends of our children often joining us for holidays, we decided after seven years to sell our first chalet and finally found our current chalet “Le Méridien”.
We knew by now that this was the ideal area for us, for summer and ski seasons. The Méridien was exactly the kind of chalet we had in mind with traditional features, wooden beams, open fire etc.
First we worked on the downstairs apartment , which is now called “Chalet L’Etale” and later we converted the attic to make the the upstairs apartment, “Chalet Tournette”.
As half of our family are snowboarders and the rest skiers, our favourite ski area is “Croix Fry” (Manigod). From there we often leave on a daytrip on the slopes, meeting up later at “Chez Fon Fon” , a lovely little cafe/ restaurant on the slopes where we can warm up around traditional dishes like fondue and raclette. The view over the mountains from Merdassier and Croix Fry is absolutely breathtaking.
The ski bus is about 100 meters away from the chalet, which is quite convenient if one of us wants to leave or come back earlier. We have had so many memorable holidays here, especially now that both apartments are finished: it means we can easily accommodate up to 20+ people without feeling crowded.
We love to have walks from the chalet into the mountains, whether it is in summer or in wintertime, before gathering together and sharing dinner and stories sitting at the long table together.
In summer we love to go swimming in the lake Annecy, the cleanest lake in Europe. We enjoy sailing as well, which allows us to take a dip in the middle of the lake, far from the crowds, before stopping for a meal in one of the restaurants on the lake’s shore. Our favourite is Restaurant “ La Guinguette”, just outside Talloires, with its old-fashioned romantic atmosphere. In a few words, Manigod is just the right hideaway for our family to get away from our busy daily life. We hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do.

“Lovely stay! ”
We got a code to a padlock which gave us the key. That was all that was required as a checkin. There was some apple juice and authentic pate set ready for us which was a nice suprise. Very nice looking wooden chalet with 3 indoor hangout places. The couches and chairs are very comfy. Lots of lights that can be turned on or off allow you to make the rooms feel romantic, cozy or active. The wooden stove is great and really adds to the experience. The hottub takes some time to setup, since its also powered by a wooden fire, but its fun chopping wood and preparing it. The view from this chalet is amazing!

“Super chalet, super welcome”
A very beautiful chalet in an old farm, with a very well conceived decor, in a modern mountain style. Everything you need is provided to ensure you have a great time: sauna, Nordic bath, open fire, well-equipped kitchen. Thanks to Laetitia, our devoted manager!
Fadi B. - 08/09/2019
“A dream holiday”

“Awesome place! ”
You'll find everything you need for a great stay, including boardgames and movies for bad-weather-days! We were a group of 10 and went for a skiing-trip, can suggest it to everyone!

“Lovely place, great area”
Thank you for a lovely few weeks in Manigod. The apartment is nice and the views into the valley are delightful. The apartment is wonderfully located and we had a memorable 3 weeks in the Alps. La Clusaz has all you need in a summer mountain resort, the area is not overly touristy, there are wonderful walking trails in every direction. Thônes is close enough and large enough for provisioning. Laetitia the manager who looks after the apartment is charming and the apartment was spotlessly presented. Special thanks to her !
Nicola S. - 21/07/2018
We had an excellent week in this beautiful chalet. The place is full of character and the decor is superb. We really liked the indoor spaces as well as the huge kitchen with a table for more than 10 people. The concierge service was another bonus: for example, when we arrived the food we had ordered was all in the fridge. We loved the old renovated side of the chalet.
Béatrice H. - 30/06/2018
“We had a wonderful time in this beautiful chalet! ”
Great view, nice furniture, perfect hiking paths that start right in front of the house and not to forget the hot tub - perfect to be used at night to watch the stars.

“A really lovely holiday”
The chalet is really lovely: clean and with all the equipment you need for a perfect holiday. Laetitia welcomed us and gave us all the information we needed. We were very satisfied, thank you.

“Very well planned for a large family”
A magnificent holiday in this chalet, which is well thought-out for a large family. Thanks to Laetitia, the manager, for her welcome, her enthusiasm and for answering our emails so quickly. This is a typical chalet, and we appreciated having plenty of smaller rooms where you can find peace and quiet in the midst of a large group of 11 people.
Michele M. - 24/02/2018
“A comfortable and authentic chalet”
A lovely chalet which is well-equipped and comfortable. We loved the authentic style. We also enjoyed being close to a farm where we could buy cheese. We found that the chalet was a little far from the pistes and the ski bus was a bit infrequent.
Camille T. - 27/01/2018
“An excellent stay”
Everything was just as described on the website. Well done for the arrival and departure procedures, which were quick and user-friendly. We will certainly be back.

We had a fantastic stay!

“It's like we've come home!”
We have returned to Manigod after missing a year due to the birth of little Jules in the Pyrenees! But the Manigod valley called us back and we were happy to come! We were happy to return to this chalet and our routines. We expanded our local knowledge and were accepted by the people of Manigod - what an honour! So that's it - it's like we've come home.
Family B. - 02/07/2016
“Clean, and very quiet”
A well located chalet, just outside Manigod. I was worried about potential noise from the apartment above ours. However we did not hear at all the other guests. We didn't get to meet the owner but had no issue during our stay. We didn't get to meet the owner but had no issue during our stay. Everything was clean and and tidy. The chalet is well equipped. Shame that the Norwegian bath had just been delivered: we couldn't use it ! The size of the chalet is ideal for 10 people. Bonus: Annecy is just 25 minutes away !
Frédéric I. - 10/06/2016
“Service as wonderful as the landscapes!”
Wonderful accommodation, ideal location in the heart of a beautiful valley ...what more is there to add apart from the fact that the facilities were the best and the scenery wonderful! Thank you for this wonderful holiday.
Simon R. - 05/05/2016
“We spent a magical week in this marvellous chalet.”
Although the weather wasn't great, we were able to relax and appreciate the wonderful area of Manigod. The chalet is very comfortable and well planned. Thank you!
Lena A. - 06/02/2016
“Great view, great skiing”
Our group rented both apartments in the chalet (Tournette and Etale). We loved the view, the large and airy living room, the nature, the nice village, and the absence of crowd on the slopes.
Ilyas M. - 02/01/2016
“Great stay in a typical and authentic chalet”
These 2 weeks were too short to do all the beautiful walks available from the chalet. This was a superb holiday. PS: special thanks to Jocelyn for his warm welcome and great advices.
Vincent P. - 01/08/2015
“"Home away from home"”
A fantastic week in this chalet, a real home away from home! Great hikes and walks in the mountains. We're ready to come back.
Stéphane G. - 18/07/2015
“Very spacious and comfortable. Fantastic view.”
We spent a great week with family (three couples, five children) in this welcoming chalet. A stunning view from the sunny terrace was a delight for those who stayed at the chalet for lunch. Barely 10 minutes from the slopes at Manigod, it was worth being a little further away to appreciate it even more! The room with table tennis and table football was a great advantage for the children. Finally, the welcome we received from Jocelyn was perfect. He gave us plenty of tips for restaurants and local farms in the area. Thank you to him for his kindness.
Béril B. - 14/02/2015
“Ski and sun”
Wonderful holiday in a typical Alpine chalet, in superb surroundings. The sun did shine every day ! Our children enjoyed the skiing and managed to get their first medals!
Odile L. - 07/02/2015
“Wonderful and very cosy”
We had a great time with our whole team of musqueteers (IT-consultancy company from the Netherlands) for a ski trip in chalets Tournette and Etale. The chalets were wonderfull and very cosy with a nice fireplace and a great view. Everything was very clean and when we arrived there were nice and lovely welcome packages. We had every night dinner with the whole group (16 persons) in chalet Tournette where we had plenty of space. The last night we ate raclette, arranged by the chalet manager. It was delicious!
Emma M. - 03/02/2015
“Superb, warm and comfortable chalet”
The kids had a wonderful week! We even saw some shooting stars in the cloudless sky... Congratulations on such a beautiful rental.
Richard K. - 23/03/2014
“A home away from home”
Thanks a lot for the warm welcome we got at chalet Etale. We felt instantly like at home... only better! The cosy atmosphere is ideal to relax after a day on the slopes.
Antoine B. - 16/03/2014
“The chalet was exactly as described and viewed in website photos - lovely! ”
Very well equipped, with a cosy atmosphere and log burner, there was plenty of space and lovely views. The bedrooms were of good size too. Elodie the manager was flexible about arrival times and very welcoming. There is a good variety of skiing, and the slopes were relatively quiet for half term. We also enjoyed shopping in La Clusaz.
Graham S. - 15/02/2014
“Cosy and inviting”
We had such a lovely time here, it's such a cosy and inviting chalet. With everything so close, supermarkets, town, snow, restaurants... it made it perfect for us!! The kids loved it also!! The beautiful picturesque views are amazing to wake up to every day! MAny thanks for the Christmas tree and decorations.

Jean-Sébastien D. - 16/02/2013
A superb chalet - we spent a blissful week in Manigod, with great skiing for our beginner children. The weather wasn't great, but this barely affected the holiday, so good is the La Clusaz resort and town, beautiful views from the chalet, and cosy interior.
Barnaby O. - 07/04/2012
“Thanks for a wonderful week!”
Beautiful sunshine and good skiing in La Clusaz. Because of a broken arm at snowboard we spent a whole day on the terrace, and it couldn't have been better! What a view!
Karsten D. - 11/02/2012
Lovely chalet, very well stocked with everything you could need. We've had an excellent week.

“A lovely holiday”
What a beautiful chalet, typically "savoyard"!
Loved the area, the weather, the skiing, and now we are experts in snow chain fitting! All in all a fantastic break and we would love to come back perhaps for longer time. Many thanks.

“Thank you very much!”
We had a wonderful time. You've got a typical looking place at a great location. The weather was excellent too so we could experience fully how good the ski season is in the Alps!
Chris K. - 19/01/2003
Set in one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys, the village of Manigod is a mountain secret that is a delight to discover. With its own ski area linking into the famed La Clusaz ski resort, Manigod offers fabulous skiing in winter and world class cycling in the summer.
Beautiful chalets are dotted around the mountains, restaurants range from local auberges to Michelin starred, and you can buy locally made pottery and cheeses fresh from the farm.
