About Chalet Chenavray ...
Chalet Chenavray is a charming traditional-style self catered chalet in the Alps with all the 3-star conveniences you need to make your Alpine holiday perfect.
Set over three floors, the accommodation is arranged so that the ground floor is a self-contained apartment with its own entrance, ideal for a couple who are looking for a little bit of privacy.
Spacious balconies, a deck and a terrace mean everyone can find their own place in the sun, and there’s covered parking for two cars, so even in the winter your car is snow-free and ready to go.
This delightful chalet is just five minutes by car from Manigod village, where you can pick up fresh bread from the boulangerie or enjoy a locally-sourced meal at Val Sulens restaurant, which also does takeaway food.
The property ...
A lot of care has gone into furnishing Chalet Chenavray so that 8 adults can enjoy each other’s company without falling over each other.
The ground floor apartment has an open-plan sitting, dining and kitchen area, as well as a shower room and a double bedroom.
On the first floor, you'll find the main living area, with a cosy L-shaped sofa in front of the fireplace and access to the terrace, a dining area and fully-equipped kitchen. There's also a double bedroom on this floor, a shower room and the sauna. The laundry can be reached through the garage.
On the top floor, the master suite has an en suite shower room, a dressing room and access to the balcony - it's the perfect spot for that first cup of tea in the morning, or to soak up the last of the sun as it sinks down behind the mountains. There is another double bedroom and a twin room on this floor, which share a bathroom.
After an energetic day skiing or walking in the mountains, it’s great to come home to the log fire, or perhaps ease those aching limbs in the sauna before sharing your memories of the day over a fondue and a glass of wine.
About the area ...
With the ski bus stopping 250m from your door, and the nearest lifts just 5km away at the Croix Fry sector of the La Clusaz pistes (altitude 1500m), you’ll waste no time getting to the pistes.
A single Aravis ski pass gives you access to the 95 lifts and 220km of runs which link La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, and there are plenty of mountain restaurants where you can meet up with friends for lunch.
The nearby Beauregard plateau is a great choice for cross-country skiing and snow-shoe walking. Non-skiers can go ice-skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round - there’s nothing better than floating in the steaming outdoor pool while the snow-covered mountains tower above you.
In the summer, walking in the mountains is a pleasure, and all the hard work is done for you if you take the lift to the top and come down at your own pace. The Gliéres plateau, scene of the Resistance’s campaign in World War II, is a great place for a picnic.
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness.
After a strenuous day, you’ll be glad to get back to your chalet for a barbecue on the sunny terrace.
The medieval lakeside town of Annecy is just 30 minutes away by car and is a great place for a day out, whatever the season, with its unique mix of restaurants, shops and museums. In the summer it's a great place for water sports, or hire a boat and explore some of the quiet lakeside beaches.
Whatever you do, you can be sure of a holiday you'll never forget.
If you think Chalet Chenavray is the perfect place for your next Alpine holiday, check our calendar to see if your dates are free - if they are, we can hold them for 24 hours while you make your plans. But don't hang around - Chalet Chenavray is always in big demand.

The OVO Network Review
“Perched above a hairpin bend on the road between Manigod and the Col de La Croix Fry, Chalet Chenavray enjoys panoramic views of the stunning Manigod valley.”
Chalet Chenavray is a five-bedroom, four-bathroom chalet for 8 guests, spread over three floors, with 130 M2 of floor space.
Chalet Chenavray was one of the first chalets to join the OVO Network and has always been popular with multi-generational families looking for a comfortable chalet in a great location.
The lower floor was at one time set up as a separate apartment, so has its own entrance, kitchen, dining area, lounge, bathroom and bedroom, and its own deck. There is no internal access to the rest of the chalet, a bonus for parents with youngsters, or grandparents who prefer to have their own space while on holiday with the family.
The fireplace, living space and dining area are on the main floor, as is the main kitchen, which is small but well equipped. The sauna is in the bathroom on this floor.
On the top floor some of the bedrooms are smaller than those in more modern chalets, please check the plans for accurate detailed information.
The large main terrace is to the side and rear of the chalet, with a brick barbecue, table tennis table, dining area and private space for sunbathing.
In summer the automatic irrigation system takes care of watering the window boxes and flower beds.
In winter the drive can sometimes be challenging, depending on snow conditions. Happily it is short, and there is room to park cars off the road at the bottom of the drive, and walk up.

From the owner
We have the best of both worlds, winter wonderland and summer pastimes in a chalet which has all the modern comforts...
“We first visited the Haute Savoie area with our children about 25 years ago. At that time we used to tour with our caravan, accompanied by friends and their children in their caravans.
On many occasions we ended up staying close to the Manigod area for our main holiday. In fact my son and his friend telephoned for their GCE results from the lakeside at Menthon and we celebrated with friends and children by a dinner on the evening cruise down the lake, one of life’s unforgettable memories.
Our friends bought a house here and after we stayed with them, we longed for our own chalet. Then one Christmas we found one in our price range and refurbished it both outside and inside to make it the chalet you see today.
We have tried to incorporate modern bathrooms but retain some of the old world charm. We never tire of the wonderful views of the Manigod valley - winter and summer we can spend hours just looking at “our garden”
Top of our list are the magnificent colours of the autumn, and seeing the cows and goats being brought down to their winter pastures from the high plateau.
We feel our chalet is a home from home.
Our family enjoys the fun of sking, snowshoe walking, tobogganing, ice skating in the winter, and the sauna is in high demand for those aching limbs after the first ski downhills.
The family learnt to ski here at Croix Fry, which is about six minutes away from the chalet, and now enjoy the plethora of runs available which cater for all abilities. In fact, our granddaughter (4) is just starting to learn to ski.
My husband loves sitting on the balcony on a clear evening and watches the stars (wrapped up warm of course) – you seem to feel as one with nature. In the summer again we love sitting on the veranda watching the view.
We plant the geraniums and lovingly tend them and enjoy them cascading over the balcony.
The family also visit in the summer and love the stunning walks to the high mountains, as well as the activities on Lake Annecy at Menthon and Tailloires. Cycle rides around the lake are a new venture which we have enjoyed.
We all love our visits to Annecy and we never tire of walking around the old town, stopping for a coffee, or perhaps an ice cream. We are spoilt for choice for restaurants but love the shellfish restaurant as you enter the old town.
My wife loves the shops and Saturday market in Thones., and our favourite treat is a coffee and cake in the patisserie in the arcades in Thones.
Another favourite visit of ours is to the Resistance museum just outside Thones. We love going to the Plateau de Glieres and walking around the historic pathway, you realise what brave men and women these people were.
We usually take a picnic and spend the day there, although there are restaurants where you can get a good plat du jour.
To sum up, we just relax when we are here. It is a cliché but we have the best of both worlds, winter wonderland and summer pastimes in a chalet which has all the modern comforts in a rural community. ”

“So happy about our stay in this amazing place”
Sublime and quiet location, with a breathtaking view. The equipment is complete (however there was a small issue during our stay with the television). We had a lot of fun staying at this place. We will come back, that's for sure. Thanks also to Steve the manager for his availability and efficiency.

“It met our expectations...and more!”
This chalet is nicely decorated, cosy and welcoming. Absolutely lovely. It's so well equipped you can't find anything missing and we felt right at home from day 1. The view is gorgeous. Location is right between the pistes and Thônes town center. Quiet location.

What a great location for this lovely chalet perfect to explore the area!

Our stay in Chalet Chenavray was very lovely. The terrace was nice and the grill worked very well. The space, while compact was well used. Steve was efficient and friendly, and very helpful - responding quickly to any needs we had. The strengths of Chalet Chenavray are the fabulous views, the lovely decorating, and the overall comfort. And Steve's helpfulness and friendly smile.

“A superb chalet close to the mountains and the lake”
The things we loved about Chalet Chenavray included the view, the comfort, the surroundings and the morning bread delivery. In this area you can choose between the mountains and Lake Annecy.
— Lucas B. Aug 2018
I spent nearly one month in your wonderful chalet, and I am grateful that it was a possibility at all. The period - April - turned out to be exceptional regarding the weather. Sun more or less every day and spring exploded around us. I was supposed to do some studies in my field - architecture - while staying there, whilst my family, friends and partners in my firm would come and go. I didn´t succeed in doing any studies at all though, and I actually consider this to be the most successful part of the stay in any regards. Instead we relaxed, drove mountainbikes and ate and drank local delicacies, while enjoying the magnificent surroundings. Chenavray is a great house with many rooms and bathrooms. There is also a great independant appartment. All was great: location in the area, great veranda....
And I really enjoyed the beautiful nature and kind locals.
I feel quite sure that I will be visiting your house again next year if possible!!
— Christian L. Apr 2018
“We enjoyed our stay as always. ”
We loved the comfortable seating area, well appointed bedrooms. We know the area well and love the peace and tranquility
— Marilyn M. Mar 2017
“We fell in love!”
We adored our stay in Chalet Chenavray and we felt at home as soon as we opened the door! We loved the decor too. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival. Steve met us to give us the key. There were small problems with the sauna and the television, but apart from that, we loved the skiing, the sledging and snow-shoeing on the Col de la Croix Fry. Thank you for this great family holiday.
— Jerome C. Feb 2017
“To be repeated!”
We had a lovely family holiday in this well-equipped chalet, which is very clean, sunny and has a great view of the snow-topped mountains. The welcome was lovely and the location, away from other chalets, is perfect and the little ski station of Manigod is very friendly and not too noisy. Two things: perhaps change the bedlinen in the first bedroom at the top, and show the number of the chalet at the bottom of the lane to make it easier to find for new arrivals.
— Veronique B. Feb 2017
“Roll on next year!”
A dream holiday in your magnificent chalet which was very well managed. Our only problem was that in heavy snow vehicles we needed snow chains to get to the chalet. We had a great welcome from Steve. The area and the view from the chalet are splendid.
— Corinne L. Jan 2017
“A magical start to Christmas for us and our children.”
The chalet was beautifully decorated for the season! It's been everything we had hoped for and more! We look forward to being able to return sometime in the future.
— Anne-Marie S. Dec 2016
“A successful holiday”
A superb chalet which had everything we needed (perhaps an outside light to make the most of the long summer evenings?).The view from the balcony is magnificent and the area is beautiful. The welcome was warm. Being close to the road wasn't a problem as we were out most of the day and the evenings were quiet. A car is absolutely vital, but we were warned of that. We highly recommend it.
— Laurence N. Aug 2016
“We're familiar with the place...”
As usual, and after many holidays in your chalet, we're always very happy to get some fresh air and lots of relaxing time in your property.
— Yves C. Jul 2016
“Good value for money”
We booked the house for one week in summer with four adults and six children. The area is really beautiful in summer and there is lots to do for children. The house is relatively close to the road to La Clusaz but you have stunning views from the two terraces. We used the four bedroom as well as the independant apartment and thought it was no problem that they are not connected. The house was very well presented and clean and although the kitchen is small it was extremly well equipped. The whole house is well equipped. The bedrooms are cosy with good mattresses. The dining table is big enough for ten. I think the living area would be a bit of a squeeze with ten people in winter, but then you would have a big room downstairs as well. It is very good value for money in summer and we would recommened the chalet.
— Christina M. Jul 2016
“A fantastic week”
We just left Chalet Chenavray, where our group of 10 people and 1 baby spent the week. We were all very sad to live the magnificent Manigod Valley where we enjoyed so many varied activities. The chalet has allowed us to spend this time in the best possible conditions. It's very well equipped, very clean on arrival, and we were welcome by Steve the manager, always there when needed. This was a fantastic, with sun shining over gorgeous landscapes! We will certainly be back. Thanks.
— Frédéric B. Jun 2016
“Beautiful view, really well equipped chalet”
Beautiful place, exactly or even better than what was advertised. Only thing was not enough ski buses to the resort, but as the road is so beautiful and easy, it wasn't much of a problem.
— Alexandre B. Mar 2016
“A great stay with lots of snow!”
This chalet was very nice and clean. Thanks.
— Chrystelle D. Jan 2016
“There was nothing we needed, they had thought of everything.”
A very comfortable chalet - the bathrooms are lovely, so are the bedrooms and the fireplace in the living room is very cosy. There was nothing we needed, they had thought of everything. The sauna and the separate apartment are a bonus. The chalet is well located for walks in the area, around the village, the Col de la Croix Fry and La Clusaz.
— Corinne R. Jan 2016
“We'll be back!”
A really beautiful chalet - welcoming, spacious and well equipped. In short, it was perfect for our family. Its setting overlooking some dream scenery, set back from the road and the stream of tourists is a real asset in our opinion. It was perfectly safe for our two dogs. Thank you for accepting them. The welcome and the availability of the manager all added to our complete satisfaction.
— Nicole N. Jan 2016
“A magical place”
Chalet Chenavray has been a magical place for a family reunion with family travelling from Australia, UK and Switzerland. It's warm, cosy, comfortable, well equipped and peaceful. We've had a very enjoyable week.
