About Chalet Sicoria ...
Location, location, location - this 3 star chalet is just 300m from the beautiful Alpine village of Chinaillon so it's a short stroll to pick up bread in the morning, or to a restaurant at the end of the day.
The ski bus stops just 50m away, and it's only 800m to the pistes. The views are fabulous too, overlooking the slopes from the front of the chalet, or the old village of Chinaillon, with its historic chapel and traditional chalets with wood shingle roofs, from the new terrace at the side of the house.
You won't need a car here, as the ski bus links the village with the other ski stations of Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod.
Chalet Sicoria sleeps 11 people, and is the perfect choice for a large group of family or friends looking to immerse themselves in Alpine life, whatever the time of year. The owner Muriel, who grew up in Chinaillon, is based nearby and is happy to offer help and advice.
Rêves d'Hiver can deliver your skis to the chalet, come to the property to help you choose your equipment or even pick you up and drive you to their shop to benefit from their professional advice. Discounts and free ski store available.
The property ...
This appealing 3 star chalet sleeps 11 people in five bedrooms over three floors.
There's a double bedroom and a bedroom with bunks, as well as a shower room, on the first floor. On the second floor, there's a double room as well as a room with three single beds and a bathroom. The final bedroom is on the ground floor, with a shower room, the sauna and the laundry room.
There’s a spacious kitchen and dining area with wood burner on the first floor, as well as a cosy living room. The balcony opens on to the terrace and both boast spectacular views across to the pistes and mountain pastures - the perfect place to enjoy a drink in the evening.
Another popular new addition is the sauna, where you can unwind after a day on the slopes or walking on the mountain trails. All that fresh air is bound to give you an appetite, and the spacious kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast. After dinner, the cosy leather sofas invite you to relax and plan another perfect day in the mountains.
About the area ...
The ski lift is just 500m from Chalet Sicoria, but it’s just as easy to take the ski bus, which stops 100m from the chalet every 15 minutes.
An Aravis ski pass covers all the Lake Annecy ski resorts - more than 200km of perfect pistes. If you fancy a change, why not try the sledge run or the nearby cross-country ski piste. Beginners to this sport can test their ski legs at the Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains, while boarders will appreciate the Snowpark.
Non-skiers can go ice-skating in Grand Bornand or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides. At the end of a busy day, head back to Chalet Sicoria for a pre-dinner sauna, or head into the village for dinner.
In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains around Chalet Sicoria, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office in Chinaillon.
There’s a fantastic swimming pool complex in Le Grand Bornand, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics, but if you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
The medieval town of Annecy is a must for a day out, whatever the season. It offers a unique mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and museums, and Lake Annecy, said to be the cleanest lake in Europe, is a great place for watersports, swimming, or cycling.
August sees the International Children’s Festival in Le Grand Bornand - a week of puppet shows, circus acts and workshops, with a grand firework finale. You’re in the heart of Reblochon country, so on your travels don’t forget to pick up some of this delicious cheese from a local farm or market.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Sicoria is a three-storey chalet for 11, in the popular village of Chinaillon, part of Le Grand Bornand.
Skiers are just 500m from the lift, but it's easy to explore further afield, with the ski bus stopping just 100m from the door. It's a short walk into the village, where you'll find a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants.
There are five bedrooms - three double rooms, a bunk room and a room with three single beds, which is ideal for children.
There's a bathroom on every floor.
The sauna is a great feature - there's no better place to relax after a day in the mountains, whether you've been skiing, walking or cycling.
Le Grand Bornand has the Famille Plus mark, which means there's always something going on for young children.
Chalet Sicoria was renovated in 2013, and offers a cosy and homely base for a great family holiday. The owner, Muriel, grew up in the area and still lives nearby, so is a great source of help and information.

From the owner

Les Congères
My parents have been welcoming paying guests to " Les Congères" or "the Snowdrift", a nearby property which my father built himself, since 1965. So looking after guests is a well established family tradition!
The property was named "Snowdrift" because of the vast amounts of snow which used to surround the isolated farms every winter in Chinaillon at that time. My brother and I took over the family business a couple of years ago with the idea of upgrading the accommodation on offer, and we feel we have achieved this aim.
Chalet Sicoria is conveniently located close to absolutely everything: the old village, the more modern resort, shops, restaurants, the slopes, cross country trails, activities, walking trails etc etc… Park your car on arrival and then forget about it for the rest of your holiday!
The views across to the slopes from the inside of the chalet are stunning, and since earlier on this year you can also enjoy a different and equally beutiful across to the old centre of the village and mountains beyond from the new wooden terrace to the west side of the chalet.
We have refurbished Chalet Sicoria with care, and using our experience of what makes a great holiday rental property, and we sincerely hope you will enjoy quality time here with your friends and family. We are on hand close by to offer help and advice if you need it and an insider's knowledge of all there is to see and do, and look forward to welcoming you soon. Muriel Bernard
