This charming chalet for four, just 300m from the centre of La Giettaz is a real find. Detached properties catering for smaller groups are rare, particularly ones like Le Mazot de la Caillère, which offers a range of high-standard facilities, such as a balcony and terrace with panoramic views and a sauna.
Guests will enjoy being just so close to the village facilities, as well as a short walk from the ski bus stop and just 3km from Le Plan and the link to Megeve. You have a choice of two ski passes - Les Portes du Mont Blanc, or the more extensive Evasion Mont Blanc. For even more variety, it's just a 14km drive to the ski fields of La Clusaz.
Whether you decide to visit in winter or in summer, you will never be short of something to do. Winter sports such as skiing, boarding and snow biking are always popular and in summer, the mountains are a magnet for bikers, walkers and paragliders. You can also try summer luge, climbing, or just take the lift up the mountains and enjoy the view over a picnic.
About the property ...
Le Mazot de la Caillère is a recently extended and converted alpine farm building which now offers accommodation for four guests in a double bedroom and a second bedroom with two single beds on the top floor. The double bedroom opens on to a furnished balcony where you can check the weather as you enjoy your first coffee of the day. These two bedrooms are only divided by a curtain, which makes the property perfect for a family holiday.
On the ground floor, the open-plan living area has a fully-equipped kitchen with an electric oven, an induction hob, a microwave and a dishwasher, as well as all the equipment you'll need to prepare a delicious dinner. There's also a dining table where you can eat together and a comfortable living room, which opens on to a large terrace and garden with wonderful views of the valley. There's a stylish shower room on this floor with a WC.
On the lower ground floor, you'll find the sauna and a utility/laundry room.

Le Mazot de la Caillère is in an amazing location, with wonderful views over the Aravis mountains and just a short walk from the centre of La Giettaz
The link from Le Plan (3.4km) to the ski areas of Combloux and Megève means skiers have lots of choice - more than 100km of pistes in the Portes du Mont Blanc area, and stil more in the larger Evasion Mont Blanc area, which covers covering Megève, St-Gervais, Saint- Nicolas de Veroce and Les Contam. If you're still looking for more, you're just a short drive from the La Clusaz ski area, which has more than 200km of pistes.
There's just as much to do in the summer - choose from walking, climbing, mountain-biking, summer luge, picnics, or just enjoy the 360-degree views from the top of some of the ski lifts. The Col des Aravis, a familiar scene in the Tour de France, is also nearby.
The medieval town of Annecy is just 45km away - close enough for a day trip. Explore the narrow streets and canalside restaurants or enjoy a day on one of the lakeside beaches.

Set in the heart of the Aravis mountains, La Giettaz is a bit of a ‘well kept secret’
Skiers can choose to explore either Les Portes du Mont-Blanc, the domain Evasion Mont-Blanc or even L’Espace Diamant, offering something for all the family.
In the summer there are great mountain bike trails and walking routes, with a wealth of flora and fauna, plus a via ferrata.

The quirky little Mazot de la Caillère just a short walk from the centre of La Giettaz is a wonderful find for a family of four, or perhaps two couples, who want all the facilities of an Alpine village as well as a stylish retreat to return to at the end of the day.
Built over three floors, this former farm building has been extended and beautifully renovated to combine contemporary comfort with original features reflecting its rural past. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to prepare a delicious dinner, and there's even a dishwasher to make light work of the clearing up.
There's a separate utility and laundry room on the lower ground floor, along with the sauna, where you can relax at the end of a wonderful day in the mountains.
The cosy living area has a sofa and stools where you can get together in front of the TV as well as a folding dining table where you can enjoy dinner. There are also doors to the spacious terrace, where you can relax with a drink and admire the breathtaking view of the valley.
The stylish shower room with WC is on the ground floor, while the two bedrooms are on the first floor. There's a double room with a TV and a door to a furnished balcony, and a second room with twin beds under the eaves and space for children to play.
The two bedrooms, only divided by a curtain, are ideal for a family.

We previously ran an inn near Chamonix, in Haute Savoie. After selling it with a twinge of regret, we were keen to embark on a new project and stay in the Deux Savoies area, close to our customers.
We found this delightful old place in La Giettaz, dating back to 1807, La Ferme de la Caillère, with its mazot, and we fell in love with it.
We are parents and grandparents of three wonderful little girls, and we embarked on this project with the support of our children, so it is very close to our hearts.
What can we say about the Aravis? It's a return to our childhood, and the wonderful memories we want to share with our family, friends and guests.
The mazot is in a little paradise for nature lovers, where the flora and fauna are well protected, and where you can enjoy skiing in winter and hiking in summer - an escape at 1150 m and just a few minutes from the Col des Aravis.
With the help of local craftsmen, Laurent has renovated Le Mazot using the region's finest materials, wood and stone.
The farmhouse, which is still being renovated by Laurent and his fellow craftsmen, will be ready by the end of 2024 to accommodate 10 people in a cosy and welcoming apartment.
Just a few hundred metres from the village centre, you'll enjoy a splendid south-facing view over the valley and village on one side, and the Aravis mountains on the other.
As we live in the farmhouse, we can be there to greet you when you arrive and give you all the information you need.
