Sleeping up to 12 people (maximum 8 adults) in 5 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms, Chalet Polanka is ideal for several families or a large group of friends.
On the ground floor there's an open plan living area, dining table and kitchen, as well as a double bedroom, bathroom and laundry room.
On the next floor, the main open plan living area has a large dining table for communal meals and a cosy fireplace where you can catch up on the day’s news and plan the next. Underfloor heating means it’s always cosy when you come in from the cold, and in good weather, you can open the patio doors on to the large terrace, where you can watch the sun go down over the mountains. There's also a bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet on this floor.
The other bedrooms are upstairs - two doubles and a family room as well as a daybed on the landing. There are also two shower rooms and a bathroom.
The two well-equipped kitchens make it easy to cook a quick supper for the kids while making dinner for the rest of the party, or perhaps for two families staying together. The two living rooms and two dining areas mean you need never feel crowded, and kids have a choice of outside spaces where they can let off steam.
About the area ...
Situated halfway between the ski stations of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, Chalet Polanka is in the perfect position to enjoy the best of the Lake Annecy Ski Resorts.
It’s just a five-minute drive to the ski lifts, and the ski bus stops in the village, just a couple of minutes away.These resorts are all covered by the Aravis ski pass, giving you more than 200km of pistes to explore, with 95 lifts. There’s great terrain for cross-country skiers too.
Non-skiers will find plenty to keep them occupied, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink and cinema, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Thrill-seekers should head for the Bun-J-Ride in St-Jean-de-Sixt – a unique mixture of ski-jumping and bungee jumping that’s not for the faint-hearted!
Whatever the season, Chalet Polanka is the perfect base for enjoying life in the Aravis mountains. In the spring and summer, there's no shortage of walks from the door, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign in World War II.
Adrenalin junkies are well catered for too, with paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, mountain-biking and white-water rafting just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of St-Jean-de-Sixt.
Whatever you do, you will be glad to get back to Chalet Polanka at the end of the day, where you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink on the terrace and perhaps a barbecue while you relax and soak up the evening sun.

A family home furnished with love for a relaxing holiday, whatever the time of year
“I fell in love with the Alps after being a frequent tenant of an elderly French/English couple - the man was a brigadier general who was still skiing at the age of 94!
The La Clusaz area is beautiful, whatever the time of year. Of course it’s gorgeous in the snow, but it’s also wonderful in the spring, when the meadows fill with flowers and you can hear the cow bells.
In summer, you can enjoy the fabulous weather, stunning sunsets and the star-filled skies, and in autumn you can hunt for mushrooms, and pick up wonderful local fruits in the village markets.
Chalet Polanka was built for us in 2006/2007 by specialist local tradesmen. It’s south-facing, and is surrounded by meadows above the village of St-Jean-de-Sixt.
We used the best materials - local oak for the staircase, reclaimed oak for the main floors and old stone and wood for the fireplace. The rooms are all spacious with high ceilings, and there are plenty of places where adults and children can find their own space.
One of my favourite areas is the ‘gin and tonic terrace’ next to the meadow - the perfect place to watch the sunset in the summer.
I hope you will enjoy and respect Chalet Polanka as the family home that we have created with our own treasures and hopefully, after a well-earned rest here, you will decide to visit us again soon.

“We recommend this chalet”
Chalet Polanka is a lovely chalet in a nice location above the village of Saint-Jean-de-Sixt and close to the main skiing area of La Clusaz. We were three families, each with two children, and we all had a great half-term week skiing. The chalet is very spacious, well-equipped and full of charm. Everything was of a very high specification and the facilities were great, with lots of attention to detail on behalf of the owner. There is a small supermarket, ski-hire shop, boulangerie and restaurant in St Jean and the car park at La Clusaz is a 15 minute drive. Although there was a lot of traffic due to half-term, we found the ski area to be generally uncrowded with lots of variety for a group of mixed age and ability - would definitely recommend both the chalet and the resort. We had a good service from OVO and the manager Christine was very helpful.

“A really lovely experience”
A very lovely modern chalet which is perfectly equipped (kettle, cafetiere, washing machine and dryer, baby cot and high chair). The property is very spacious - there's plenty of room for 12 people without getting on top of each other. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Sound insulation in the chalet is very good, and there is a magnificent 180° view from the balcony. The property is not overlooked and is in a very quiet area. We had an excellent holiday, and strongly recommend it.

“Beautiful Polanka”
I wanted to thank you for opening your beautiful chalet to me and my friends this past week. From the moment we walked in we knew we had found the right place to spend our ski holiday. The views across the valley to the mountains are spectacular but it's the inside that made us smile right away. It's spacious and beautifully bright with all the big windows and doors leading to the terrace and balcony and we loved all the comfortable furniture in front of your gorgeous fireplace to lounge in after a hard day skiing. A big table for everyone to eat at (and in our case play cards), great modern kitchen, lovely bathrooms and extremely comfortable bedrooms (I loved the antique furniture in mine!) You have a beautiful home and thank you again for letting us enjoy it.

“Just perfect”
This is a stunning chalet and makes for a blissful winter stay in St Jean de Sixt. It is well positioned, equidistant between Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz. One can be buying ski passed at either resort within 15 minutes of leaving the chalet. Perched up on a hill, it offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. Watching these views from the many balconies is irresistible. This is a substantial house with well-proportioned rooms and more than adequate bathroom facilities. The spacious living area, which adjoins the dining space and kitchen, is absolutely perfect for entertaining large groups as well as more intimate family events. The wood fire in winter makes for the most cosy evenings in after a long day on the slopes. It is beautifully designed, decorated and maintained chalet and has provided me and my family with memorable moments.

“Our favourite holiday accommodation!”
We have stayed at Chalet Polanka on a number of occasions - summer and winter - and it never disappoints us. Our last visit consisted of adults - parents & grandparents, children and baby during the Summer. The Chalet Polanka has south facing balconies from the living area and 2 main bedrooms so we were able to sit out throughout the day overlooking pastures and mountains - absolutely wonderful! We love the tranquility of the area but also that we can visit towns, local produce markets and picnic sites whilst exploring this beautiful area of France. My husband and son are keen cyclists and love the challenge, the garage providing safe storage of equipment. I am always sad to leave this favourite holiday accommodation.

“Extremely comfortable”
We stayed with family and friends (9 adults, 3 children) in Chalet Polanka in June. It is a well-maintained, extremely comfortable chalet and there was plenty of room for us all. Everything we needed for a self-catering holiday, including bbq, was provided. The views from the chalet are stunning. We found plenty to do in the area, including visits to the picturesque old town of Annecy. We enjoyed a boat ride on Lake Annecy and swimming in the lake. All our needs were met and we were very happy with our holiday. Thank you to the owner of the chalet for getting it right!
