About Chalet Le Petit Mazot ...

This 4-star chalet is a real find for a family or two couples wanting their own tranquil space not too far from all the action.

Sleeping four people, it’s rare to find such a delightful private property for a small party. Not only do you have your own detached chalet, but there is also a delightful outdoor seating area which is perfect for catching the last of the sunshine.

The location is perfect too - right opposite the Nant-Bossonet button lift yet on a quiet road, just a few minutes walk from the popular village of La Clusaz, where you’ll find a great choice of restaurants, bars and shops.

Le Petit Mazot means the little shed, and although that is how this chalet started its life, it has now been extended and transformed into a warm and welcoming home which makes an ideal base for a holiday in the beautiful Aravis mountains.

The property ...

The picture-perfect Chalet Le Petit Mazot is the ideal choice for a family or small group of friends looking for their own place in the mountains.

It sleeps four persons in two double bedrooms. The cosy sitting room has a flat-screen television and DVD player. Unique artwork and design details make this a very special place to stay.

The modern kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped, with every item you’d expect to find, as well some you wouldn’t, such as a grill stone! There’s a also a separate laundry with a washing machine and tumble-drier.

Outside there’s a delightful shaded seating area, perfect for relaxing on a hot summer night, and a brick-built barbecue.

About the area ...

Skiers of all abilities can ski almost to the door of this convenient La Clusaz chalet.

There’s a ski lift and a ski-bus stop just 100m away, and the Aravis ski pass gives you access to 220km of pristine pistes, with something for all abilities - the weekly flood-lit descent in La Clusaz is a must!

The local ESF ski school holds lessons for beginnners on the piste close to the chalet, and cross-country skiers will find great terrain at Lac des Confin and the Glieres plateau, just a short drive away.

Non-skiers will have no time to be bored either, with an ice-skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides. If you’re looking for the ultimate in relaxation, let your cares float away in the heated outdoor pool at La Clusaz, while the snow falls gently around you.

In the summer, the shady terrace at Chalet Le Petit Mazot is the perfect place to while away a sunny day, but there’s so much to do in the La Clusaz area, you’ll wish you’d booked for longer.

Walking or biking in the mountains is a pleasure, and all the hard work is done for you if you take the ski lift to the top and bike or walk down at your own pace - pick up a map of trails at the tourist office in La Clusaz.

Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains safely on iron walkways, secured to a harness.

The beautiful medieval town of Annecy is less than 30 minutes drive away. There are several excellent golf courses and the lake, the cleanest in Europe, is a great place for swimming and water sports, or just hire a boat and explore some of the peaceful lakeside beaches.

If you are looking for a high-spec chalet for a family holiday in the French Alps, Chalet Le Petit Mazot could be just right for you. Why not check your holiday dates against our calendar? The OVO Network Review

“A delightful chalet for four”

Chalet Le Petit Mazot is a beautiful two-storey chalet for four guests, with two bedrooms and a bathroom.

It's in a great location, in a quiet road near the lift and just a short walk from the centre of La Clusaz.

Developed from a former storage building, it's now a really well-appointed chalet, with a cosy living room and a good-sized kitchen/dining area, as well as a separated laundry room.

The two double bedrooms share a shower room.

There's a surprising amount of outside space at this well-designed chalet, with a large balcony on the first floor and several seating areas on the ground floor, including a dining area and a beautiful terrace just off the living room with built-in seating.

What is the OVO Network Review?

We visit the property and write an unbiased review. What’s good? What’s not so good? We’ll help you find the right chalet for you.

From the owner

Built in 1851, Chalet Le Petit Mazot still belongs to our family...

“A “Mazot” was originally a type of small Savoyard shed built on agricultural land - this particular one was only 16m2!

Traditionally, mazots weren’t used as living spaces but as safe places to store the family’s precious goods and belongings such as cereals, the harvest, seeds for the coming year, Sunday best clothing and shoes, paperwork etc. Mazots were always located a distance away from the main building to keep them safe from the risk of fire.

The mazot which became the chalet “Petit Mazot” was built in 1851 by a man named François Clavel. 100 years later it was transferred onto a concrete base measuring 5m x 6m in order to provide solid foundations before it was turned into a proper house.

Today Le Petit Mazot is still owned by my family.

For a few years now we’ve been rebuilding it; we’ve enlarged it and refurbished it to turn it into a cosy and unique pretty mountain chalet with thoroughly modern equipment.

“Charming stay”

This is a wonderful accommodation with character, in a great location and a sun-drenched, dog-friendly garden. The main bedroom is fabulous. It met all of our expectations for facilities and cleanliness.

“We will come back for another winter holiday!”

The property is very pleasant and ideally located. The outdoor space is ideal for a family stay, and the master bedroom is very spacious. We will come back for another winter holiday.

— Cyrielle S. Feb 2023

“Cozy chalet for families/couples”

Ideal place for a small family or two couples. The chalet has everything you need to enjoy a superb stay. Great place for pets as it has its own private garden area and terrace.

— Robert F. Jan 2023

“A lovely chalet”

Good location, very clean, the owner is very responsive and he helped us! You got everything you need in the chalet.

— Mazilu R. Jan 2023

“Nice location and cosy place”

It's located a bit off the main road and typically quiet, except once in early hours when the snow plow came by. The little road up to this house from the main road is private so it isn't plowed very well and you need to have a good 4 wheel drive, or winter tires/chains if snow is on the ground. The house itself is very cosy - wood inside, cute small backyard. We really liked it.

— Karen B. Dec 2022

“Nothing negative to say!”

The owner, Ludovic, was really flexible for arrival and departure time. The chalet is lovely, clean and well equipped. We had a great week-end in the Aravis.

— Fabien B. Nov 2022

“Good location, very nice and well equipped”

Very pleasant and cosy chalet, ideally situated and equipped.

We enjoyed walking in the area and shopping in the resort.

— Marion J. Oct 2022

“A cool place!”

Le Petit Mazot is ideally located near La Clusaz centre, but at the end of a quiet alley. The chalet is well equipped, with very good quality appliances, and the beds are very comfortable. Only a fireplace is missing, but apart from that, ten out of ten.

— Sylvie N. Sep 2022

“Wonderful chalet in a beautiful location.”

Every detail of the chalet design and furnishing has been thought about. We particularly loved the outside sitting areas and the table tennis was great too. The kitchen was well equipped, the large fridge freezer was great. We loved having a chalet to ourselves, for our family of four. It has such a lovely history, is beautifully designed and furnished, and the outside areas are really nicely done. The owner kindly provided linen for the sofabed as the 2nd double would have been a squeeze for our teenagers to share, this worked well and they were both very happy with their rooms. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed cooking there, as well as eating out. The chalet is in such a pretty setting, we could see the cows grazing across on the Bossonet pasture and loved hearing their bells. It's a 10 minute walk into La Clusaz which had lots of activities, restaurants etc. The summer sledge, hiking on the Beauregard and the Reblochon festival were among our holiday highlights.

— Nina C. Aug 2022

“10/10 for this pretty chalet”

Very well equipped and maintained, wonderfully clean, lovely beds, great Wi-Fi, superb location, handy bike storage under the eaves upstairs, good shower, good kitchen and utility room. And really pretty!

— Philip S. Jul 2022

“We loved the property.”

It has all the modern comfort, is very well equipped and all the basics for cooking are also provided (seasoning, coffee, tea) which is a very nice touch. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is top notch. The place was immaculately clean and finally the location is perfect. I would recommend 100%, thank you!

— Gilles P. Jun 2022

“Enchanting chalet in peaceful location”

The petit mazot offers great services and high attention to detail in the bed linen, the towels and facilities available. We really loved this beautiful place and were very grateful to stay in such an amazing, spotless rental property.

“You feel at home right away!”

The Chalet is beautiful. You feel at home right away. It is practical and well equipped. The exterior is a real plus (garden furniture, table, barbecue). The meet and greet is very well organised and the manager's attention to detail contributed to making it a great holiday. We had an incredible stay in this magical setting.

— Mayola S. Mar 2022

“We really loved the chalet and la Clusaz!”

We really loved the chalet and la Clusaz. The chalet was very well equipped and good quality. The living area is a nice size with good views, there are rooms for hanging ski equipment out of the way. The beds are comfy. The chalet is warm. It is about a 15 minute walk to town and 10 mins with all ski equipment to the local ski lift and ski school.

— Laura W. Feb 2022
