Chalet Fernuy...
There's a real feeling of tranquility at this delightful 5-star chalet, which is in a great location, between the charming village of La Clusaz and the ski and leisure area of La Balme and Les Confins.
There are stunning views across to the La Balme ski area, and of course the Fernuy run, from Chalet Fernuy. The chalet sleeps 10 people in five bedrooms, with four bathrooms. There is also a wonderful outdoor nordic hot tub, an outside dining terrace and several different seating areas - you can follow the sun throughout the day.
This spacious chalet has been cleverly designed, resulting in a stunning contemporary interior with some unique features, and is decorated to make it a wonderfully relaxing space where you can wind down at the end of an active day in the mountains.
Chalet Fernuy is a great base for groups of friends or families with older children who want to make the most of the mountain activities on offer in the French Alps, but with easy access to all the shops, restaurants and bars of La Clusaz.
About the property...
The spacious Chalet Fernuy is set over three floors. The open-plan, double-height living area on the ground floor is filled with light, thanks to large windows and patio doors. The seating area around the woodburner has plenty of cushions and throws, there are doors to the balcony where you can make the most of the late sunshine. A lovely leafy tree canopy frame makes the view extra special from this floor. The compact kitchen is fully equipped, and has a breakfast bar where guests can sit and chat with the chef, or help prep dinner. The dining table seats 10, so you can all sit down to eat together. There's a double bedroom on this floor, with an en suite shower room, and a separate toilet.
The four remaining bedrooms are upstairs: a master suite with a dressing room and en suite bathroom; a twin room with a Jack and Jill bathroom, ie shared between two bedrooms, with doors entering from each room. One of the twin rooms can be prepared as a single or a twin room, and is probably best suited for one or two children. The final bedroom looking out to the rear of the property is a large double room, which can be made up with a king-size bed or two singles, and a sofa. There's also a fabulous office space on this floor - if you have to work while staying at the chalet, you will at least be rewarded with the most amazing views!
There's a fantastic extra living area on the lower ground floor, which has rather a "clubhouse" feel to it - squishy leather sofas, a bar, TV, board games, table football and darts make it a great place for kids of all ages to hang out!
The utility room is a good space for drying outdoor gear. There is a heated rack for five pairs of ski boots, and plenty of space to store skis, bikes, golf clubs etc in the garage.
There's a terrace for outside dining off the main living floor, seating and sunbathing areas and the stunning nordic hot tub terrace. There is also plenty of space for children to let off steam in the meadow behind the house. Chalet Fernuy is one of the last properties in a quiet cul de sac, so there is very little passing traffic.
About the area...
When you stay at Chalet Fernuy you're in a perfect location, just minutes from La Clusaz and overlooking the popular La Balme ski field - a favourite with our visitors and French freeride world champion Candide Thovex.
It's just a short drive back from La Balme and parking is free, if you’d rather not drive, the ski bus stops just 100m from the chalet, putting the whole of the Aravis ski resorts at your disposal. Be aware that at certain times of the winter the commune make the section of road between Chalet Fernuy and the parking at La Balme one way, so you will have to drive or take the bus around the circuit. Your Aravis ski pass will give you access to more than 220 km of superb pistes and 95 lifts in the stations of La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Manigod.
Cross-country skiers and snowshoe walkers will find great terrain at the nearby Lac des Confins and the Beauregard plateau.
If you fancy a break from the pistes, La Clusaz has an outdoor ice rink, heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a spa centre, and a cinema. If you’re looking for a something different, try sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides, all within a few miles of your holiday home.
Chalet Fernuy is also the perfect base for the Défi Foly competition at the end of April, when skiers round off the season by seeing how far they can ski across the normally partially frozen Lac des Confins!
If you are visiting in the summer, there is no shortage of fun and adventure within a few minutes of Chalet Fernuy. Take the lift up into the mountains for some high-altitude hiking or biking, or try white-water rafting, canyoning, via ferrata and para-gliding in the La Clusaz area.
There are plenty of gentle walks in the Lac des Confins area, where you will also find a tennis club, golf course, driving range, fishing and a riding centre.
The crystal-clear waters of Lake Annecy are just 40 minutes drive away, making it a great place for a day out - you can swim and fish in the lake, windsurf or just hire a boat and explore the lakeside beaches.

The OVO Network Review
“Superb location between great skiing and La Clusaz village”
Chalet Fernuy in La Clusaz is a modern spacious chalet for 10 people - it has five bedrooms, four bath or shower rooms. It's situated almost at the end of a quite cul de sac in a peaceful setting surrounded by gardens, meadow and stunning mountain views.
We love this property for its amazing outlook over the popular La Balme ski area, and the relaxing nordic hot tub, which is available all year round, from where you can enjoy amazing sunsets.
The accommodation is set over three floors, so perhaps not best suited to those with limited mobility or with toddlers. The rooms are generously sized and the lovely big windows mean the chalet is filled with natural light.
However, older children will love the fabulous games room on the ground floor.
It's just 1 km to skiing at La Balme and parking is free, but if you want to take the ski bus, which stops 300m for the chalet, you'll find you have to do most of the circular route to get to the slopes. The upside is that you will be one of the first on the bus, and on the way home, it's just a couple of stops! There's also a good evening service into the village.
If you're staying in April, don't miss the Defi Foly - the finale to the ski season sees plucky (or crazy) contestants hurtle down the side of the hill on skis or snowboards and across the lake - the winner is the person who gets furthest across the lake before sinking and having to be pulled out by the rescue boat. If you don't fancy taking part, it's a great spectator sport - take a picnic and make a day of it.
For a quieter day out, try cross-country skiing, visit a farm to buy goats' cheese, or visit the market in La Clusaz. There are lovely walks at Confins, as well as fishing, golf and tennis, and several restaurants which are worth a try.

From the owner
"We have spent the happiest times of our lives here..."
We are an Irish family living internationally. We love skiing and wanted our children to love it too so decided to find a chalet as a second home.
We stumbled across La Clusaz quite by chance and fell in love with its tree-lined slopes and pretty Savoyard village. The chalet that would become ours was being built at the time by an architect from nearby Annecy.
What we love about it is that it marries a traditional shape and style with modern elements such as the huge light filled windows.
This chalet has been our true home from home for 15 years. Our children were little when we arrived in deep snow for our first Christmas.
We have celebrated many Christmas’ since then here, seen in many New Years and celebrated endless birthdays.
It’s beautiful both in winter and summer and we have loved it very much. Now our family is largely grown and we have moved too far away to get here easily, so we have taken the decision to open it up for other families to enjoy.
We have spent the happiest times of our lives here and we hope you do too. Soyez les bienvenues.
Welcome to our chalet.
And as we say in Ireland “Cead Mile Failte”
The Ryan family

“Ski with friends in style.”
A very nice place for a ski vacation with friends. Very pleasant chalet: bright, beautiful view, close to all amenities.
— Astrid S. Feb 2023
“A very beautiful chalet, outstanding view”
The service and facilities are very pleasant though we found the mattresses not firm enough for our taste. The large sofa in the living room would benefit from being replaced. Very good quality equipment.
The manager was very available and responsive.

“An exceptional chalet”
A magnificent view of the mountains and a perfectly equipped rental! Nothing was missing! Dishes, linen, towels, bathrobes, board games, books for young and old, table soccer, darts, etc...
The house manager, Nathan, was very available, very professional and very attentive, before our arrival and during our stay. Thank you.

“As expected from the site”
A good stay, in a comfortable chalet designed to welcome a large group of people. Gorgeous views.
— Caroline B. Dec 2022
“Even better in person!”
Very nice property with all the comforts it promises. It is as described, if not better in person. The property manager looked after us well. It was a great holiday!
— Aymeric D. Mar 2022
“Beautiful chalet”
Chalet Fernuy was great in all aspects: stunning views, excellent facilities, very accommodating owners. We are already looking forward to visiting the area again soon.
— Mark M. Jan 2022
“Beautiful chalet in a quiet location, with a great view”
We enjoyed the games room and the mezzanine with the "office" corner. Too bad about hte ski lifts being closed, but we explored the mountains anyway while snowshoeing and nordic skiing.
— Claire, Eric, Patrick M. Mar 2021
“Spacious and comfortable chalet”
Photos stick to the reality. We enjoyed this working week in the mountains. The chalet was very clean and the terrace is really nice. Only advise: maybe isolate better the bathroom of the ensuite double.
