Set on the border between France and Switzerland, Chatel is a popular choice thanks to its great skiing in the Portes du Soleil and its close proximity to Geneva airport.

Unspoilt and with a traditional charm, you’ll find pretty chalets and wonderful scenery.

The village has a good selection of shops and restaurants, and in summer there’s fabulous terrain for walkers and bikers.

The OVO Network Review

La Grange au Merle is a four-storey, six-bedroom chalet for 13 guests. And with five bathrooms, an outdoor hot tub with wonderful mountain views, a sauna and a cinema room, it has everything you need for a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

If you are travelling with children, there's an added bonus that will delight them - their own "mini chalet" in the garden where they can play to their hearts' content!

This former farmhouse has been very carefully renovated and furnished in a traditional Alpine style, but it also boasts all the contemporary comforts you look for on a holiday - a well-equipped, open-plan kitchen, a home cinema room with Netflix and Apple TV, a Sonos sound system and a desk if you want to work during your holidays.

The open-plan living area has a large dining table where everyone can eat together, and a cosy seating area around a fire.

The terraced garden has several seating areas and terraces where you can enjoy the wonderful village and mountain views while the children have fun in the delightful playhouse.

There are five double bedrooms, which can also all be arranged as twin beds. The sixth bedroom is designed for three children, with a bunk bed and a single bed.

There are five en-suite bathrooms, all of which have showers and three of which have baths too.

You will find a covered parking space for one car, as well as further parking for up to four cars. The chalet is located a 15-minute walk from the ski lifts and the centre of Châtel, where you'll find a good selection of shops and restaurants.

With so many unique features and a wonderful Alpine ambience, La Grange au Merle is a very special place for a holiday with family and friends.

“We have enjoyed many family holidays exploring the mountains”

We renovated La Grange au Merle to create a luxurious chalet while maintaining the lovely traditional styling of this old alpine farmhouse.

A generous open plan living area with individually-styled bedrooms on floors above and below, the chalet is equally well-suited for a single family or larger groups.

The south-facing hillside aspect provides sunshine throughout the day. Terraces on the bedroom and living room levels make for ideal sitting areas, with huge windows bringing fabulous views of the mountain peaks into the living and dining areas as well.

Patios in the gardens on either side are perfect for tranquil open-air dining, morning and evening.

With just a fairly level 10-15 minute walk to the village centre, the chalet provides easy access by car or on foot to the restaurants and village shops.

We have enjoyed many family holidays exploring the mountains, as well as the nearby towns and villages of France and Switzerland, and hope that our guests do so too.
