This beautiful renovated chalet for 12 guests (maximum 10 adults) enjoys a fantastic location in the Lac Des Vonnes area of Châtel, on the French Swiss border and part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area.

It's just 1km from the bars, restaurants and shops of this popular resort and there are several popular lakeside restaurants. Châtel also has two cinemas, an ice-skating rink and a tenpin bowling alley,

Enjoy a coffee on the terrace overlooking the lake or watch the lifts ferrying skiers up the mountain. From Chalet Ruisselet it's just a short walk to the chairlift, which will take you either to the Super Châtel or Linga ski areas. The ski bus stops close to the chalet, so if you want to, you can forget about your car.

In the summer there are wonderful family-friendly walks around the lake, as well as hiking and biking trails. You can fish, hire paddle boards and children will love the playground and discovery trails.

The chalet is also equipped with a lockable garage for bikes.

About the property ...

This impressive three-storey chalet overlooking the mountains and Lac de Vonnes has been totally renovated by its current owners, to create a fabulous base for an Alpine holiday.

Built in the 1990s, the chalet now has all the comforts you need for a wonderful holiday, including a sheltered hot tub overlooking the lake - the perfect place to relax after an exhilarating day exploring this beautiful area.

As you approach the front door, you'll notice the ski room, with a heated boot rack, on your left, so you can store all of your outdoor gear outside the main house. Inside, there's a laundry room and two bedrooms on this floor - a double with lake views and an en suite bathroom and a funky bunk room for four which overlooks the lifts to Super Châtel and Linga.

The main living area is on the first floor, where a fabulous kitchen runs the width of the chalet. There's a huge fridge-freezer, a large oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and a built-in coffee machine. Doors open on to the terrace from two sides of the kitchen, so even when you're cooking, you're never far from those fabulous views. The dining table extends so that you can all eat together, but there's also an island unit where you can grab a quick snack.

A stylish suspended fireplace separates the dining area from the main living area, where you can snuggle down on the huge wraparound sofa in front of the television. A second seating area, with doors to the wraparound balcony is a cosy place for a quiet chat. There is also a single bedroom / TV room on this floor and a shower room which opens on to the hot tub terrace.

A large balcony surrounds this floor on three sides, so that you can always find a spot in the sun, overlooking the lake and the terraced gardens with the hot tub.

There are three more bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor. Two double bedrooms open on to a shared balcony overlooking the lake, and there's also another single bedroom which can also be used as a TV room.

The decor at Chalet Ruisselet is a wonderful mixture of traditional Alpine and contemporary bling - a really fun place for a memorable holiday!

About the area ...

You get two countries for the price of one when you stay at Chalet Ruisselet! Overlooking the Lac de Vonnes at the top of Châtel, the property is just before the border with Switzerland. It's a short walk to the chair lift which takes you up to Super Chatel, from where you can go on to  Linga and Pré-la-Joux on the Portes du Soleil circuit.

The ski bus stops at the chairlift, giving you easy access in to the village, but if you fancy the walk, it will take you just 10-15 minutes.

Châtel is one of the main resorts in the huge Portes du Soleil area, and offers great access to Avoriaz, Torgon and Morgins. Situated at the end of the beautiful Abondance Valley, its altitude and location between the Alps and Lake Geneva means it enjoys a great snow record. There's a snowpark, boarder cross course and great terrain for beginners at Super-Châtel, but also plenty to test intermediates and experts in the Linga/Pre-la-Joux sector and further afield on the Swiss side of the border.

Cross-country skiers will find 49km of trails around Châtel.

In the summer, the resort attracts road cyclists drawn to the Tour de France routes. The Châtel bike park offers 20 downhill tracks, and there are plenty of bike shops and hire points in the village.

Walkers and trail runners can explore 48 circuits and 400km of paths. Families looking for child-friendly walks will appreciate the footpath around the lake, and the link to the lake at Morgins, on the Swiss side of the border. There is plenty going on at Lac de Vonnes, with fishing, paddle boarding, discovery trails and a great playground.

Châtel has been awarded the Famille Plus label, so you can be sure that children will always be well catered for, with a full programme of activities in summer and winter.

Older children will love the Fantasticable - an adrenalin-filled flight on two zip wires, which will see you flying over the hamlet of Plagne-Dranse at almost 100kmph! Other adventurous options include paragliding, rock-climbing, via ferrata, whitewater rafting and kayaking. There's no time to be bored!

“A great family choice, summer or winter”

Chalet Ruisselet is a three-storey chalet sleeping 12 guests in six bedrooms, with three bathrooms.

Situated in the Lac de Vonnes area of Châtel, you're a 1km walk from the main village, but the chairlift and ski bus nearby mean you can manage without your car, should you wish to. There's also a selection of restaurants around the lake, just a short walk away.

This renovated chalet, built in the 1990s, is set on a hillside, overlooking the lake, the mountains and the ski lifts - it's easy to lose a couple of hours on the terrace in front of that view! The garden is a series of terraces, including a stylish pergola with a hot tub. However, the number of steps mean this chalet may not be the right choice for guests with limited mobility.

The chalet has three bath/shower rooms, but only one of the bedrooms is en suite. One of the shower rooms, which is off the living area, opens on to the hot tub terrace, making it perfect for a shower before stepping in to the bubbles.

We love the glamorous kitchen, which has everything you need to cook up a feast for a hungry crowd. It also has doors on to the balcony - throw them open in the summer and make the most of that mountain air!

The layout of Chalet Ruisselet make it a great choice for one or more families and the fabulous location means there's always something to see and do, whatever time of year you choose to visit.

A fantastic holiday in a lovely area !

Having enjoyed coming to the beautiful and friendly village of Châtel as a family we were lucky enough to be able to buy Chalet Ruisselet in 2019.

We have refurbished the chalet to make it a comfortable base whilst trying to retain much of its original charm.

We love the stunning views over the lake and privacy of the chalet combined with the convenience of being a short walk to the village and the ski lifts.

After days exploring everything the Châtel and the wider Abondance valley has to offer we really enjoy having a well deserved drink watching the sunset from the terrace or hot tub area.

Whilst we have bought the chalet to enjoy as a family we are delighted to share it with people who share our love for the mountains and the outdoors.
