Overview
You won't waste any time getting to the slopes when you stay at this ski-in, ski-out chalet for 8 guests in the popular Falaise area of Avoriaz. It has direct access to the pistes and is just 200m from the resort's shops, bars and restaurants.
And if you're travelling with children, they can even sledge from the front door!
And when you return to the chalet after an exciting day on the snow, you can stash your equipment in the ski store, pop your boots on the heated rack and relax in the sauna or on the sunny, south-facing balcony as you watch the late skiers return to the village.
With all the facilities of a busy resort on your doorstep, and a choice of lifts just a short walk away, you won't need a car when you stay at this superb property.
About the property
This cosy and practical chalet sleeps eight guests in four bedrooms over two floors. Each floor has a large double room and a bunk room for two, and there are two shower rooms, a bath/shower room and a separate WC, making it a perfect choice for two families. There's also a sofa bed in the living room, making the sleeping arrangements more flexible.
All of the beds will be made up for your arrival, with luxury goose-down duvets and pillows.
In the open-plan living area, you can snuggle down on the sofas with faux fur throws and cushions, or step out onto the balcony to watch the sunset over the mountains.
The kitchen is compact but well-equipped with a dishwasher, an oven, induction hob, microwave and a large fridge-freezer. There's also a dining table where you can eat together.
The chalet also has a sauna and a ski room with a heated boot rack.
This chalet is a great choice for a family group looking to spend as much time in the mountains as possible, either skiing in the winter, or exploring the wonderful walking trails in the summer.
About the area
Avoriaz is the highest of the 13 ski stations in the vast Portes du Soleil area, which straddles the border between France and Switzerland, so you can be sure of the best snow.
There are great challenges for experts - check out the Burton Stash or the half-pipe - but there are some fabulous blue runs and great choice for beginners at lower altitudes. Try the wide Proclou slope, which runs alongside the Mini-Stash snow park. It's great for practising turns and gaining confidence. For more scope, head to the Pleney area in nearby Morzine.
There's just as much to do in Avoriaz in the summer, with wonderful hiking and biking trails. The goat village of Lindarets is a great day out, particularly for families - goats have the run of the streets, but you can always escape with a picnic by the river or a walk up to the Brochaux waterfalls.
The tropical water paradise of Aquariaz is worth a visit too - open all year, you can bask in the 30c water while the children play in the water jets and slides or float down the lazy river.
Other summer pursuits include golf (great views), tennis, climbing, paragliding, horse-riding and summer sledging.
- Check-in: after 17h00
