About Chalet La Frasse ...
The owners of Chalet La Frasse spent several years visiting properties in La Clusaz before they found La Frasse.
It's not a typical Savoyard ski property by any means, but the owners immediately saw the potential of the terraced property, which ticked many of the boxes on their list of priorities: they wanted plenty of sunshine, the pistes on their doorstep and plenty of room for friends to come and stay. Chalet La Frasse offers all that and more, including stunning uninterrupted views over the Beauregard plateau.
The property has now been totally refurbished in a modern "loft" style, to offer the perfect base for a group of families or friends looking for a mountain holiday at any time of year.
Situated just a few minutes' drive (3km) from the busy town of La Clusaz, the property is just 150m from the La Ruade piste. It is on the road up to the restaurant "Chez Arthur" on the Crêt du Merle road, which is regularly cleared of snow in the winter. However, the altitude (1300m) means you should equip your car with snow chains.
In the summer you could walk down the piste into La Clusaz, but the return journey would be a bit of a challenge, unless you take the ski lifts!
The property ...
Set over four floors, there are four double bedrooms, and the top floor beneath the eaves is dedicated to younger children. Chalet La Frasse sleeps 12 people (with a maximum of 8 adults).
As you come in to the chalet on the ground floor, there is a spacious hall with room to leave outdoor gear, and a utility room with space to dry wet clothing and boots. There is also a shower room and a double bedroom with doors opening on to the sunny front garden.
The open-plan living area on the next floor has a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, a dining area which opens on to the rear garden and a living room with access onto a balcony with beautiful views over the valley to the Beauregard plateau.
The stunning dining table has been made to measure, with iron legs from a printing press and a solid oak top made from reclaimed railway carriages. It's large enough for 12 people to enjoy dinner together before gathering on the cosy sofa around the wood-burning stove or the wall-mounted flat screen TV.
On the second floor, there is a spacious family bathroom, a separate toilet and three more double bedrooms, one of which is has an en suite shower room. Young guests will love the top floor, which has four single beds in one room and a TV in another one, and a play area. All of the rooms on this floor have low sloping ceilings (with limited headroom in some areas).
There is a steep sloping grass area to the rear, and a level communal play area above the garages, where children can play safely.
About the area ...
Nestled between Le Crêt du Merle, Etale and Beauregard, you are just a few metres away from some great skiing when you stay at Chalet La Frasse.
The La Ruade piste, a blue run that descends into La Clusaz, is just 150m away, and at the end of the day, competent skiers can ski through the trees straight to the back door, whilst less confident skiers can return to their starting point and walk the 150m back to the chalet.
Just minutes from the La Clusaz telecabine, and with the ski bus stopping 500m away, you have access to 220km of pistes and 95 lifts, all covered by the Aravis ski pass, so you will never be short of somewhere new to explore.
Chalet La Frasse overlooks the Beauregard plateau, which is a great choice for cross-country skiers, and there's plenty to do for non-skiers too. There's an ice-skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, or you could try sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
If you're looking for the ultimate in relaxation, let your cares float away in the village's heated outdoor pool and spa. Whatever you choose to do, at the end of the day there will be a warm welcome waiting at Chalet La Frasse.
There's no shortage of activities in the summer, either! Hike into the Col des Aravis, or let the nearby telecabine ferry you and your bike to the top of the mountain, so you can come back down at your own pace. Other activities available in the area include horse-riding, climbing, via ferrata and paragliding.
The mountains around La Clusaz are criss-crossed with tracks and paths, so take a picnic and make a day of it. If you just want to relax, why not soak up the sun from the balcony or the terrace while you admire the fabulous view of Beauregard, or visit the beautiful swimming pool complex in La Clusaz.
Later, you can make the most of the long summer evenings at a local restaurant, or fire up the barbecue in the garden at Chalet La Frasse.
If you fancy exploring the French Alps from Chalet La Frasse, check your dates against our availability calendar. We will be happy to hold the property for you for 24 hours if you need a bit of time. But don't leave it too long - Chalet La Frasse's superb location means it's always a winner with our guests!
The OVO Network Review
“This property will be ideal for families with kids of similar ages, or for groups of friends.”
This 6 bedroom 3 bathroom terraced chalet for 12, is set over 4 floors ,150 metres squared of floor space. With an attic that has been transformed into a haven for children, with a play space as well as two bedrooms under the sloping eaves, the property on the road up to the Cret du Merle, has simply beautiful views across the trees to Beauregard in La Clusaz.
Chalet La Frasse is also next door neighbour to a brand new OVO Network property - Chalet Charmar with a capacity of 13, so for larger groups (up to 25) wanting to holiday with lots of friends, why not book both properties together? To make life even easier, both properties are looked after by the much praised StellaH Management, so organising extra activities/ babysitters/ chefs who will come and cook in the properties if you don't fancy venturing down to town, massages, breakfast deliveries etc are much simpler to organise.
The main living space has a large flat screen TV and a wood burning stove, in the large lounge area and a spacious dining room overlooking the garden to the rear of the property and the kitchen.
This property will be ideal for families with kids of similar ages, or for groups of friends. The access to the piste is good and within 150m, it's possible to ski back via the woods above the chalet to arrive in the back garden. For those used to skiing and carrying skis around who prefer to be more remote from a busy resort, life couldn't get much better. The property isn't as ideal for complete beginners as they will have to ski to the school meeting point, which may be possible by the end of a week, but quite daunting if not impossible at the beginning! Time to get the car out of the garage instead, and drive down through the pretty ski station of La Clusaz en route.

From the Owner
La Clusaz is a lively town all year round ...
“Emmanuelle was born in Annecy and as a child she spent many weekends and holidays in La Clusaz. We visit the area frequently to see her family and to enjoy the mountains and the lake. When we decided to start looking for our own place in the Alps, La Clusaz was the obvious place to start our search. It is a lively town all year round with easy access from Geneva airport or by train from the main cities.
It is also ideal for skiing, mountain-biking and hill-walking, whether you are an amateur or you like a challenge. Many activities are organised by the town and with its many shops, bars and restaurants, the town has something to offer for everyone. We wanted a place that was large enough for friends and family to come and stay, that had direct access to the ski slopes, and also got the sunshine - not an easy combination to find in La Clusaz.
After several years of chalet hunting, we bought Chalet la Frasse in 2013. The property is located in the Cret du Merle area of La Clusaz at 1300m altitude. To go skiing it is a short 150 metres walk to where you can put on your skis and traverse on to the La Ruade piste - a blue run which leads down to the village and the ski school departure area. It is possible to ski directly back to the chalet and enjoy the late afternoon sun in the front garden or the balcony.
We have now completely renovated the chalet and are looking forward to sharing it with you.
Emmanuelle, Donald, John & Elise
“A very nice stay”
We had a great stay in this very comfy chalet, which is in a great location - we could ski right from the chalet every morning.
Please note: the town centre is quite a distance and we thought driving to the chalet could be tricky in heavy snow.

“We had a wonderful stay here”
There's a lot to do in La Clusaz and surrounding areas. Wa also had a lovely day out at the Lake Festival in Geneva ! The chalet is wonderful, it's well equipped and has fantastic views. We were very comfortable here. The kids (aged 3 and 6) loved the playroom too. Thank you for making everything so comfortable for us.

“Ideal for the whole family”
This was our second summer holiday at La Frasse and we all loved it. Summer sledging, walks in the fresh air, climbing, the swimming pool and local meals at the farm - there was something for everyone, whatever their age. A big thank you to Emmanuelle, Donald and John for a lovely family time in this spacious and well equipped chalet in a magnificent setting.

“We will be back! ”
A superb stay in your beautiful chalet - we loved the interior design, the electrical equipment and the view! Getting to the pistes was easy. The manager Camille was perfect!

“We would have loved to stay a bit longer!”
We live in the area, but we wanted to get together with friends on the slopes. We had an excellent week. It was lovely to ski back to the terrace! The chalet is magnificent, practical and very well located (the games room, the boot warmer, the stove and everything else were perfect!).

“Congrats on the chalet!”
We came for the start of the winter season of 2015/16. Unfortunately for us, the snow arrived late. There were few pistes open but the children were able to ski all week with the ESF. We took advantage of the open road and the beautiful weather to explore this beautiful area. Congratulations on the chalet - everything is perfect. The location, the view, the well-designed layout, the top quality equipment ... thank you for everything.

“We had a very lovely stay. ”
The welcome was well organised and the chalet was well prepared. The layout of the chalet means there is plenty of room for a large group without getting in each other's way. The bedrooms are very comfortable and very quiet. The children's area on the third floor is well designed. On the ground floor the laundry has everything you need and we loved the bootwarmers. And the weather was on our side.

“A great week”
The chalet is large and very pretty - we spent a lovely week there. A little tip for the guest - there is a short cut through the forest just after Le Bercail restaurant. But you'll need to be a good skier because there is a lot of powder! Thank you very much and we'll see you soon.
Family M. - 07/02/2015
“Beautifully equipped and decorated”
We spent a wonderful week at the Chalet la Frasse and would thoroughly recommend it. The views are unbelievable and the chalet is beautifully equipped and decorated. Thank you very much!

“Thank you again”
The children and I stayed on for another week. The weather was fabulous, the chalet was comfortable and really peaceful.

“A very pleasant chalet. ”
Situated on the road to Cret du Merle, it is away from the noise and the hustle and bustle of the centre of the village. It's as quiet on the outside as the inside. The chalet has been cleverly renovated and is comfortable and easy to live in. The west-facing balcony and terrace made the most of the sun until bedtime. The view is also superb! Thanks also to Janelle for her rare kindness.

“Thanks for a top holiday”
We had a great time; the resort is super friendly with good skiing and the chalet beautifully renovated. Our kids enjoyed the independence of the upper floor and access to the slopes, even at the end of the season, was simple.

“Thanks again and bravo!”
A week full of joy! I was really moved to visit La Clusaz again after a very long time. La Frasse was the perfect place to welcome us. Thanks again and bravo for this superb achievement.

“We had a wonderful time in your chalet!”
We were 5 children and 6 adults, for the 1st time in La Clusaz. Our oldest ones did have ski lessons for the first time in their lives and they really enjoyed it. We felt very comfortable in your chalet: from the first day it felt like HOME! As an architect I love the way you designed and finished your house. Thanks for the hospitality. We had a first nice experience in the snow.

Why La Clusaz?
Less than an hour from Geneva, La Clusaz offers Alpine action all year round. A traditional farming village, it not only offers great skiing and superb summer activities, but also a real community feel, whenever you visit. Great restaurants, bars and nightlife combine with local markets, festivals and traditions to give you the best of all worlds.
