Maison Keryaute ...
This delightful 5 star village house for six guests in Sevrier is just 200m from the shores of the crystal-clear Lake Annecy, where you can swim, sail, paddle board (available at the property!) or just stretch out on the sandy beach.
If you want to explore a little further, there's a cycle path between the house and the lake, which will take you around the lake, or straight in the the heart of the medieval town of Annecy, where you can explore its canal-side restaurants, antique markets and shops. The owner provides bikes already at the house (4 adult bikes of which one is electric, 3 kids bikes and 1 bicycle trailer). There's also a packed programme of entertainment in the town - whatever time of year you visit, there's something going on.
There are several restaurants in Sevrier itself, some of which have lakeside terraces where you can while away a sunny afternoon. And if you visit in the winter, you're just 35 minutes from the ski resort of Semnoz and less than an hour from the Aravis ski resorts of La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Manigod.
About the property ...
When you walk into this traditional village house you'll be astonished by the bright contemporary interior.
Recently renovated, there's plenty of space for six guests in three double bedrooms, all of which can be arranged with twin or kingsize beds. The master bedroom on the ground floor has its own en suite bathroom, but does not have a window. The two bedrooms on the upper floor both have doors to a central bathroom. One of these bedrooms also has a mezzanine TV/games room, making it an ideal place for children or teenagers to find their own space. One of the upstairs rooms does not have a window, but a glass door to the landing means that it benefits from borrowed light.
The open plan living area on the ground floor has a cosy seating area, with a large comfortable corner sofa in front of the television. The sleek contemporary kitchen not only looks great, it's also very practical, making cooking a pleasure, and the dining area is sure to be the setting for some great gatherings. A roof light in this area means it's always bright and airy.
There's also a toilet on the ground floor, as well as a laundry room and plenty of storage for outdoor equipment including two bikes and a paddle board provided for your use. There's also a separate room for coats and shoes.
Maison Keryaute has no outside space, but there's plenty of ventilation and the thick stone walls keep the property cool in summer.
There's plenty of room for parking right outside the property - a real bonus in the Annecy area.
About the area ...
Water sports, lakeside beaches, mountain adventure and a medieval city are all waiting for you when you stay at Maison Keryaute.
it's just 200m to the beach at Sevrier, where you can swim, paddle board, or just stretch out on the sand and enjoy the mountain views. There are also canoeing, sailing and tennis clubs nearby.
The Voie Verte cycle path runs between the house and the lake, making it easy to get into Annecy without the car. If you feel up to it, you can cycle (or run!) all the way around the lake (44km), but at points the path joins the main road which can get busy, especially during the summer. There are also plenty of steeper cycle routes that take you into the mountains, such as the Col de Leschaux or Le Semnoz, which has featured in the Tour de France. The climb may be steep, but the stunning views are a great reward!
If you'd prefer to explore the lake from the water, you can join a two-hour hop-on, hop-off cruise which visits the villages around the lake - Sevrier has its own stop - or hire your own boat and take your time, perhaps stopping at a lakeside restaurant for a meal. It really is the most relaxing way to spend a day.
Other activities available nearby include golf, paragliding, via ferrata, wakeboarding, swimming and fishing - there's no time to get bored!
If you are staying at Maison Keryaute in the winter, you can ski at the small resort of Semnoz (20km), where you can buy a lift pass by the hour. The resort of La Sambuy, near Seythenex, south of Lake Annecy, is less than an hour away (30km) and has 10 pistes ranging from green to black. The Aravis stations of La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Manigod are all less than 40km away, and offer 220km of superb skiing.
The medieval town of Annecy has a wide selection of restaurants, from family spots to fine dining. On a sunny day, choose one of the canalside restaurants and watch the world go by. There are also some delightful independent shops, three weekly produce markets, and a regular antiques market.
There's always something going on in Annecy: check out our OVO Network destination guide for details.

The OVO Network Review
Maison Keryaute is a newly-renovated property for six people, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Set in the village of Sevrier, near Annecy, we think its a great base for three couples or a family who want to be close to all the entertainment in Annecy but also want easy access to the lake and mountains.
Flexible bedrooms mean they can all be arranged with twin or kingsize beds, and the upper floor is perfect for children, who get their own bathroom as well as a mezzanine floor which they can make their own.
Although there is no outside space at Maison Keryaute, with the beach just 200m away and the cycle path even closer, there's plenty of opportunity to get out in the fresh air. The owners have thoughtfully provided four bikes and a stand-up paddle board for your use too!
There's a good choice of restaurants within walking distance, and small supermarket less than 1km away - larger shops are just a little further away.
There's plenty of private parking space right outside the property - a real bonus in the Annecy area. Maison Keryaute is set on the main road to Annecy, but great soundproofing means any road noise is reduced.

"Time is the architect, the people are the builders"
Maison Keryaute is the perfect embodiment of this quote from Victor Hugo - its stone facade, built over 100 years ago, bears witness to the history of the village of Sevrier.
With its rustic look, this house, renovated to retain its character, contains some real surprises. As soon as you walk through the door, you'll be transported back into a warm and timeless place.
Originally from Brittany, we fell in love with this part of the Alps. The name Keryaute is a combination of Ker - the Breton word for village - and yaute - the Savoyard name for Haute Savoie.
If you want to get in to the centre of Annecy, grab one of the bikes we have left for you, or put on our rollerblades, and take the lakeside path, enjoying the turquoise water of the lake along your way!
Enjoy your stay,
Laura & Cédric.
