Penthouse Les Cornettes welcomes you to the charming mountain village of La Chapelle d'Abondance, known for its alpine pastures and delicious cheese.
Whenever you visit, you’ll appreciate the large terrace with its outdoor hot tub, where you can relax in privacy with great views of the mountains.The private underground parking space is also a great bonus.
The concierge at the building can provide breakfast at your request, and is happy to make bookings and arrange equipment rental for your stay.
Winter guests are just 1km from both the Cret Beni lift and the La Panthiaz telecabine, which opens up the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, or just a short walk to the ski bus.
Outside the ski season, the region is popular with hikers, cyclists and nature lovers. The River Dranse offers a range of water sports as it nears Thonon-les-Bains, and Lake Vonnes is the perfect spot for fishing or enjoying a picnic with the family.
La Chapelle d’Abondance has a good selection of shops and restaurants, and you’ll find even more choice in Châtel (7km), which also has a large supermarket and a cinema.
About the property…
Penthouse Les Cornettes is a single-storey apartment with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It can comfortably accommodate eight guests, including six adults.
The entrance to the property leads to a bathroom with a bath and a separate toilet, before continuing into the living area. Bright and cheerfully decorated, this space has a seating area with two sofas and a television, a dining table large enough to seat the whole group and a modern, fully equipped kitchen.
Outside, a spacious terrace extends the living area, with armchairs, sofas and a second dining table. A hot tub has been installed in a private corner where you can relax with views of the mountains.
The bedrooms at Penthouse Les Cornettes include three double bedrooms, two of which can be configured with twin beds if you prefer, and a fourth bedroom with full-size bunk beds. One of the double bedrooms has its own en-suite shower room with toilet, whilst another has a television and a private balcony. Even branded slippers are provided!
On the practical side, you’ll find a fully equipped laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, storage space in the entrance hall, and several parking spaces outside the building. You’ll also have access to a ski locker reserved for the apartment and a secure parking space in the underground carpark.
La Chapelle-d'Abondance is one of the 12 resorts that make up the vast Portes du Soleil ski area. This beautiful region is a paradise for hikers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you prefer a leisurely walk and a picnic by Lake Vonnes, or a thrilling ride across the valley on the Fantasticable zip line, you will find a wide range of activities for everyone.
In winter, you will have access to more than 650km of pistes across France and Switzerland and nearly 200 ski lifts, all covered by the Portes du Soleil lift pass. La Chapelle-d’Abondance also has areas for Nordic and cross-country skiing, and night skiing is available once a week on the red run at Linga, in Châtel.
During the rest of the year, La Chapelle-d’Abondance offers a wide range of activities, particularly for cyclists. Experienced mountain bikers can take on the 13km Mont de Grange loop or the long 50km circuit of the bike park, starting from La Béchigne. Road cyclists can enjoy spectacular views over Lake Montriond at the end of a 17km climb to the Col de Bassachaux. The 54km route from the Col du Corbier to Abondance reveals stunning views of Mont Billiat.
If you would like to explore the region, you will be just 30km from Lake Geneva and the elegant spa town of Évian-les-Bains. Stroll along the waterfront, wander through the narrow pedestrian streets and summer market, or take a cruise across the lake to Switzerland!

“Nothing better than relaxing in the hot tub in a snow-covered Alpine landscape”
This is the second year we’ve had the pleasure of staying at Penthouse Les
Cornettes. It is the perfect base for exploring the Portes du Soleil ski area, being both close to the principal lifts, with good road access to the whole region, and an easy transfer from Geneva airport. La Chappelle d’Abondance, itself, is a charming
village with beautiful views that has maintained all of its traditional French character, and which offers a number of excellent restaurants and bars. Everything in the village is within easy walking distance, and there are several pleasant walks, especially along the river, for those days when skiing is not the chosen recreation.
Above all, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. This is a small French village where real people live, work, farm and go to school all year round, and whilst the skiing is very convenient, it doesn’t define the place - quite unusual.
Of course, Penthouse Les Cornettes itself is a key highlight. Situated at the top of an attractive new low-rise development that is set in the heart of the village, it is surrounded on all sides by spectacular mountains with stunning views. The apartment is spacious, warm, well-furnished, and exceptionally comfortable. All the
facilities you would expect from a high-end apartment are present, including underground parking and ski/boot lockers. The large terrace and hot tub are spectacular features. Plenty of scope for alfresco entertainment and dining in a beautiful mountain setting. It’s hard to beat relaxing in the hot tub after skiing while gazing out at the snow-covered Alpine landscape.
All things considered, this is an exceptional spot that is highly recommended.
“We would highly recommend the apartment”
We had a fantastic week here in January. It was spotless, warm, and cozy, with comfortable beds and everything we needed as a family. The underground parking was a bonus, and so were the ski lockers and boot warmers.
The 4-bedroom spacious Penthouse apartment is ideally located in the lovely village of La Chapelle d’Abondance, at the foot of the Crêt Béni ski slopes. Located on the
top floor with a lift straight to the car park and the locker room, this comfortable and bright apartment gave us everything we needed. The hot tub on the balcony was a real bonus after a hard day’s skiing, where you can relax with beautiful views of the mountains.
We would highly recommend the apartment and the access it gives to some of the best skiing in France and Switzerland.

Had a really good stay here. The apartment is well equipped, with everything you need, and the space is very comfortable, especially after a full day on the slopes.
The location is very convenient, right next to the tourist information centre with restaurants nearby, which made everything very easy.
Overall, a very enjoyable stay. Will definitely come back.

The hot tub, which is discreetly situated in a private corner of the terrace, is a great place to relax with views of the mountains. It offers the perfect excuse to slow down, breathe, and simply enjoy your holiday.
The apartment’s four bedrooms offer plenty of flexibility, with three double bedrooms, two of which can also be converted into twin rooms, depending on your needs. The bunk room, meanwhile, will be a popular retreat for younger guests.

We love our “home from home” in the French Alps for lots of different reasons.
La Chapelle d’Abondance is a delightful village that has retained its authentic charm and has everything you need for a great mountain holiday at any time of year. Bars and restaurants, from family-friendly to fine-dining, are all within a few minutes’ walk.
And of course, the whole area is spectacular, whatever the season.
In winter, the world-famous Portes du Soleil ski area offers 600km of pistes and over 200 lifts, giving plenty of options to suit all abilities. Access to the local mountain, Crêt Béni, is just a few minutes walk away and is a great place for new skiers and riders to build confidence and for everyone to do some quiet cruising.
The La Panthiaz télécabine gives direct access to the Portes du Soleil resorts and is the starting point for the Nordic ski area.
Outside the ski season the whole area is magical, with stunning Alpine meadows and lakes and as much hiking and biking as your legs can take!
We wanted to make Penthouse Les Cornettes a place where we would want to return year after year, where our adult children would want to bring their friends and a place where we can teach our grandchildren to ski. The bedrooms are all warm and cosy, but the focus is on the entertaining spaces.
The open plan living-dining area is spacious, inviting and very flexible, with plenty of room for eight people. We have even hosted a dinner party for 16 people! We have tried to equip the kitchen with plenty of everything you might need on vacation (our son is a private chef, after all!), with fondue and raclette sets, and proper glassware for that evening cocktail or glass of wine.
And of course, there is the terrace for outdoor dining and socialising and the hot tub for taking away the aches and pains of the day’s activities.
