Here’s our curated list of the top happenings for the 2025/26 season to enhance your holiday experience.

General activities

Throughout the season
Local markets in the Aravis
Shopping at the local markets is one of the delights of a holiday in France. You’ll find regional delicacies such as charcuterie and cheese, as well as handicrafts and souvenirs to take home (pottery, etc.).
Le Grand-Bornand – Wednesdays, 8am to 12:30pm
La Clusaz – Mondays, 8am to noon
Thônes – Saturdays, 8am to 1pm
Annecy (old town) – Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, 7am to 1pm

Night skiing and sledging
Several resorts regularly offer night skiing or tobogganing sessions. It’s a magical experience that promises a wonderful end to a day in the mountains!
Night skiing in Le Grand-Bornand
In Chinaillon, you can take part in a torchlit descent down one of the longest lit pistes in Haute-Savoie, accompanied by ESF instructors. If you don’t want to ski but still want to enjoy the evening, you’ll find mulled wine and hot chocolate at the foot of the pistes. This activity takes place every Wednesday (check the Tourist Office for full details).
The slopes are also open every Tuesday evening from 5pm to 8pm, so you can enjoy night skiing on skis, yooner, toboggan or snow scooter.
Night skiing in Manigod
Every Friday and Saturday evening, the Manigod slopes stay open until 9pm for an unforgettable skiing session under the stars. The restaurants on the slopes are also open, so you can make the most of one of the largest night skiing areas in Haute-Savoie. During the school holidays, the event takes place every day of the week except Sunday.

Every day after the slopes close, take a step back in time by trying out the paret, the wooden sledge that originated in Manigod. In days gone by, this sledge was the means of transport children used to get to school. ESF instructors will be on hand to supervise you, and you can also try it out at night on a floodlit slope.

Did you know that every evening, a team of groomers takes care of the slopes in your resort so that you can enjoy a great day’s skiing the next day? Let a professional tell you all about their job and how to operate a snow groomer.
Discover the Heritage House in Le Grand-Bornand
Throughout the winter, the Maison du Patrimoine in Le Grand-Bornand lets you discover the customs and traditions of the region. The museum, housed in a traditional 19th-century farmhouse, will take you back to the rich past of the Haute-Savoie region. Night-time tours are also available.
DJ evenings on the ice in Le Grand-Bornand
Every Wednesday evening from 20 December to 6 January, head to Le Grand-Bornand’s municipal ice rink between 8:30pm and 10:30pm for a lively evening, hosted by a DJ.
Awakening of the animals workshop
This interactive workshop takes parents and children on a journey to discover the animals that were once part of rural life in Le Grand-Bornand. An expert guide will help children watch these animals come to life in front of them.

Santa’s Castle

The majestic Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard is decked out in lights for the fourth year running, inviting children of all ages to enjoy a fairytale that seems to have been stopped in time. You might even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a red coat in the corridor!

Annecy
Christmas starts early in Annecy, with the old town illuminated from the end of November. As well as the various markets, you’ll find an ice rink, Santa’s village, a Christmas market and a whole programme of concerts. Thônes
The commune of Thônes is adding some sparkle to its market of local producers, by spicing it up with entertainment, DJs, musical aperitifs and workshops for children. Shows and concerts will take place under a big top, to celebrate the festive season with the whole family.
Slides & Delights at Croix Fry
13 December
Manigod
Come and sample some delicious local gastronomic specialities at the Col de la Croix Fry at this fun afternoon. On the menu: tartiflette, diots (sausages), cold meats, mulled wine, sports equipment, tombola, rifle shooting and a concert. A great way to get the season started!
Biathlon World Cup
15–21 December
Annecy
For the fifth year running, Le Grand-Bornand will be hosting a round of the Biathlon World Cup. It’s an opportunity to encourage biathlon talent on home soil. Music and exhibition stands will be held alongside the competition.

Starski LED descent
20 December – 2 January
Le Grand-Bornand
Come and take part in this nighttime descent that will light up the Châtelet snow front at 5:30pm every Thursday. This free event is open to all skiers with a green-run level and a valid lift pass.
Arrival of Father Christmas
22 December
Saint-Jean-de-Sixt
Father Christmas will be visiting the children of Saint-Jean-de-Sixt on his long journey around the world, bringing them presents. His arrival will be preceded at 5:30pm by a theatre show for all the family.
Guided tour of the church organ
22 and 29 December, 9 February – 2 March (every Monday)
Le Grand-Bornand
Come and discover the history of one of the most impressive instruments in the region, installed in the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. This free guided tour with the organist will take place at 5pm. Places are limited and advance booking is required at the Tourist Office.
“Envol” show – waiting for the Fun for Kids festival
24 December
Le Grand-Bornand
Stunning light shows and poetry meet in this unique, family-friendly show, which takes place in Chinaillon Square at 5.30pm. The event is free of charge, and its magical atmosphere is sure to delight both children and adults.
Concert: Gospel Angel

Le Grand-Bornand
Gospel Angel will perform great soul, blues, and folk classics in Chinaillon Square. There will be three free performances throughout the evening, giving everyone the chance to bring in Christmas with some music.
Pestacles du Père Noël
24 December – 2 January
La Clusaz
This fabulous street festival, one of the biggest in the Alps, has been taking place every year for over 20 years. The village is transformed into a magical winter celebration, with Christmas entertainment for all ages. The programme includes magicians, puppet shows, storytelling and music throughout the village, as well as a visit from Father Christmas.

A whole programme of festivities will take place every day between 3pm and 7pm in the square in front of the Chinaillon Tourist Office. On the programme: merry-go-rounds, shows, wooden games and a designer market, not forgetting the sublime Christmas decorations all over the village centre.
Nighttime Paret and Yooner Sledging
25 December – 5 March (every Thursday)
La Clusaz
Fans of these unusual snow sports can race down the floodlit slopes on fun single-runner sledges from 6:30pm to 8:30pm every Thursday. Yooners can be rented on site, provided you have a valid lift pass.
Firework display

Le Grand-Bornand will be staging an exceptional fireworks show, using the latest technology to create extraordinary special effects. See the website for full details.

ESF Nordic Instructors’ Pro Trifecta
29 December et 7 February – 6 March
Le Grand-Bornand
ESF instructors will go head-to-head in a fun biathlon event held early in the evening at the Sylvie Becaert Stadium. And to add to the fun, spectators can place free bets on the winners for a chance to win prizes. Admission is free and hot mulled wine is provided.
New Year’s Eve

Expect music, face painting and fireworks organised by the Ski Club du Grand-Bornand. The village will be welcoming in the New Year in style from 6.30pm.
New Year’s Eve Party

Come and enjoy an Alpine New Year’s Eve with a dinner and concert at the top of the Plateau de Beauregard, after a torchlit walk from Col de la Croix Fry. A jazz duo will host a typically Savoyard meal in a festive and friendly atmosphere.

This spectacular torchlit descent, followed by a ski show by ESF instructors, will thrill and amaze you. Mulled wine, hot chocolate and reblochon cheese are the perfect accompaniment.

As part of the weekly welcome, the Three Wise Men will be visiting La Clusaz and inviting you to celebrate the Epiphany. The traditional galette des rois will be accompanied by mulled wine and hot chocolate.
Il va Fernuy
8 January – 5 February (Thursdays)
La Clusaz
This weekly event offers guests the chance to ski down a snowy slope at nightfall and also enjoy tastings of quality local products. A different local producer will be featured each Thursday.
Le Bélier Blanc Trail
9 & 10 January
La Clusaz
More than 3,000 runners are expected to take part in this annual trail. You can choose between a 6km snowshoe hike and several trails for runners. A hot meal is provided in the village for all competitors at the end of the course. Even if you’re not taking part in the event, there’s plenty of entertainment on offer.
Night skiing with the SNGB team
16 January
Le Grand-Bornand
Come and watch a nighttime cross-country skiing competition at the biathlon stadium, starting at 7pm. Two-person teams will take part in a relay race, followed by a meal and music from a DJ, creating a sporty and festive atmosphere open to everyone.
Torchlit Descent
19 January
La Clusaz
The ESF instructors are organising their traditional torchlight descent, which will light up La Clusaz between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. The event will be accompanied by music, a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate and farmhouse reblochon cheese.
Open Air Disco Dayz
24 January and 7 March
La Clusaz
Local and international DJs will entertain at Church Square from 4-10pm, bringing a festive vibe to La Clusaz. A refreshment stand will offer drinks, waffles, and a giant tartiflette to enjoy with the music, and entry is free for everyone.
Makers’ market
26 January – 16 March (every Monday)
Le Grand-Bornand
The makers’ market will take place on the Grenette in Le Grand-Bornand from 3-7pm every Monday. Artisans and artists will offer jewellery, illustrations, ceramics, fabrics, and handmade candles. It’s the perfect spot to find gifts and souvenirs.
La Bornandine Cross-Country Ski Race
31 January
Le Grand-Bornand
Skiers will gather at the biathlon stadium from 9:30am for this popular race. There are several different races available: 15 km for pairs, 5km or 2.5km for children. The cost of registration includes a meal, refreshments, and a souvenir, but entry is free for spectators.

Guided Tour of Chinaillon’s Old Village

Learn all about the history and development of Chinaillon on this tour of the historic part of the village, built in the 17th century. In February, the tour takes place every Tuesday between 10am and noon.
Suly Ski trail

A unique race combining trail-running and downhill skiing in the heart of the Aravis mountains. There are two races, which you can enter on your own or in a relay team. Visit the website for more information and to register.
LCZ Freestyle Week

Freestyle has always had a place in La Clusaz, where champions such as Edgar Grospiron and Candide Thovex have grown up. The LCZ Freestyle Show is a fantastic opportunity to watch and admire the talent of the best freestyle skiers at the Club des Sports de La Clusaz.

Superhero descent
10 and 24 February

Ski down the slopes of Col de Merdassier dressed as your favorite superhero. The event promises to be a lot of fun and is suitable for all skill levels, with treats and activities planned for children.
Grenette shows – La BadaBoum
11 February

La BadaBoum invites everyone, residents and visitors of all ages, to dance and have fun in the heart of the village. This fun event will take place from 5:30-6:30pm and will include some dance games to bring everyone together.
Manigod ski show

Manigod
Come and watch impressive, choreographed ski demonstrations at Col de Merdassier. The event, which is open to all, promises spectacular descents and musical entertainment. The fun starts at 6pm and entry is free.
Sledging evenings
13 and 27 February
Manigod
Sledging isn’t just for kids! Come and race down floodlit slopes on sledges, parets or yooners starting at 5:30pm. Music will be provided by a DJ, keeping spirits and energy high.
Carpentry workshop – Children of the forest
13 February – 6 March (every Friday)
La Clusaz
Children can become apprentice carpenters to make a wooden figurine which they can take home. They will learn simple techniques like drilling and cutting at this free activity, which takes place in the Tourist Office Square from 2pm.
Valentines Day on the slopes
14 February

Couples are invited to enjoy a romantic experience in an enchanting Alpine setting, with various activities organised throughout the resort.
Chairlift of love
14 February
La Clusaz
Try this unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the top of the Combe des Juments chairlift, which is free to use from 9am to 4:30pm. There are balloons and surprises on the slopes, and you can pick up a keepsake to take home at the photo booth. The 2 Pixies will perform love songs at 11am and 1pm at the Balcon des Aravis.

There’s a real party atmosphere for visitors of all ages at this colourful carnival celebration. The fun starts at Col de Merdassier at 5pm, and features a mask-making workshop, the Mister Carnival ceremony, a parade, and a snack for the whole family.

Come and celebrate Carnival in costume from 2pm, for a festive après-ski. Expect a fancy dress parade, make-up workshop and festive atmosphere!

Local mascots will race down the slopes starting at 5pm, providing a fun and unique show for children and their families. The event is free and open to all, with treats and activities planned for kids.
Charity torchlight descent

This torch-lit descent, organised by ESF instructors in all the French winter sports resorts, will benefit three associations who bring the pleasure of the mountains to children who are not lucky enough to be able to spend time there.

Discover local traditions with music and a family-friendly atmosphere starting at Col de la Croix Fry at 4pm. It’s a great opportunity to taste Savoyard specialties while enjoying the festive spirit in the village. Entry is free.
Nature hike

Take your children to learn all about Alpine nature on a forest excursion organised by a Natur’Envie environmental educator. By looking at the flora and animal tracks, they’ll get a better idea of the majestic Alpine landscape.
Introduction to Paret, traditional sledging

Children are invited to discover the joys of the paret, the region’s traditional sledge, in a safe area at the Charmieux snow front. Participation is free, equipment is provided on site, but a nighttime lift pass is required.

This spectacular torchlit descent, followed by a ski show put on by ESF instructors, promises to fill you with wonder. Mulled wine, hot chocolate and reblochon cheese will provide the perfect accompaniment.
The Star of Manigod

There’s an afternoon and evening of outdoor activities planned for this charity event, which runs from noon to 7:30pm at Col de Merdassier. The programme includes a concert, a giant tartiflette, a torchlit descent and a raffle.
Venetian Carnival
27 February – 1 March
Annecy
Every year, the canals of the town known as the “Venice of the Alps” become the setting for Annecy’s Venetian Carnival. Hundreds of people parade in extravagant costumes right through the heart of the medieval city. Don’t forget your camera!

Trail de l’Aigle Blanc
28 February

Runners will face a 10.4km race with 364m of elevation gain in this challenging snow trail. It starts on the Beauregard plateau at 6pm, so that runners can experience the stunning Alpine sunset. Places are limited, so registration is essential. Each participant will receive a surprise gift.

Bouchet Valley Cross-Country Ski Grand Prix

This cross-country skiing competition is open to FFS-licenced skiers. It starts in Lormay, in the Bouchet Valley, at 9:30am, and is a great opportunity to experience a wonderful sporting atmosphere amidst the spectacular Alpine scenery.
Savoyard Night

The traditions of the region will take centre stage at this Savoyard evening, organised by the Lou Socali folk group. You’ll be able to enjoy traditional music and dance, as well as a typical Alpine meal.

Waiters’ race

This light-hearted race will challenge waiters to ski a parallel slalom while carrying a tray of full glasses, navigating obstacles with skill and humour. The event starts at Col de Merdassier at 5:30pm, with a refreshment stand and music to entertain spectators.

Radiomeuh Circus Festival
2-5 April

This annual festival is organised by Radio Meuh, a web radio station based in La Clusaz with 3.3 million listeners worldwide. Over the three evenings of the festival, the big top will host 10 shows, while other events will take place in the restaurants and on the slopes.

Return of the Champions

Celebrate the end of the ski season with about 30 local sportsmen and women, who will share their highlights, anecdotes, and competition memories. Entertainment, conversations with the athletes, and a DJ set will keep the party going from 7pm to 10pm, ending the winter season in style in the heart of the village.
Boarder Line
11–12 April
La Clusaz
For the 4th edition of this sporting event, La Clusaz welcomes amateur skiers and international athletes for a cross-country boarder cross race. As well as the race, you can enjoy a whole weekend of concerts and entertainment to celebrate the end of the season.
Defi Foly
18-19 April
Lac des Confins, La Clusaz
Every year since 1987, 150 skiers have gathered at Lac des Confins to mark the end of the ski season. The aim is to gain speed on a snow-covered slope and get as far as you can across the frozen lake before falling into the water, from where you will be fished out by a boat. Bring your own picnic to enjoy this zany all-day spectacle.
Annecy Half Marathon

Between the snow-capped peaks and the turquoise waters of Lake Annecy, it’s hard to find a more spectacular setting for a race. Even if you’re not running, come and enjoy the spectacle, the music and the festive atmosphere. Several distances and types of race are contested.
