The little resort with big time night skiing

Ski lovers who haven’t had enough after a day on the slopes will love the Manigod night skiing. The swish of your skis over the snow, but instead of blue skies overhead, a blanket of stars…

The small resort of Manigod, part of the La Clusaz ski area, boasts the largest night skiing area in the Haute-Savoie!  With four lifts and eight floodlit pistes, there is a huge area to enjoy skiing under the stars. Here we’ll give you our insider’s tips to make the most of Manigod night skiing…

Night skiing promo from 2014/15

When and Where?

Night skiing takes place in Manigod’s Croix Fry / Merdassier ski area every Friday and Saturday night from Christmas week, until mid to late March. During the school holidays, you have even more opportunities to get out under the stars as it takes place every night of the week except Sundays.

The Chevreuil chair lift and the Chevrette drag lift on the Merdassier side are open for access to the Genêtes green run and the Girolles blue run, as well as access over to the Croix Fry side of the hill. On that side, you have the Crête Blanche and Cabeau chair lifts giving access to a number of blues, reds and one green run.

The lifts are open from 16:30 until 21:00. If you get your pass ahead of time you don’t even need to leave the slopes at the end of the day, just continue skiing into the night! Take a look at the piste map below to see which runs are open (floodlit runs marked in yellow):

It’s great for kids too!

Night skiing isn’t just for you big kids out there, the floodlit pistes are open to all ages. There is even a fun, colourful slalom run where kids can duck and swerve around their favourite animals!

Sledging

There are floodlit sledging areas which are completely free to use on either side of Manigod hill. Little and big ones who want a break from skiing or an alternative activity will love scooting down these safe sledge runs!

It gets cold, so wrap up warm!

The temperature can really drop after the sun sets so make sure you wrap up warm. At least one extra layer is recommended. If you find yourself a bit on the cold side you can stop at one of the piste side restaurants to grab a hot chocolate or vin chaud to warm up!
