Local Markets
Enjoy shopping at one of the area’s local markets, where you can find everything from fresh produce and charcuterie to pottery and handmade gifts.

Warm up and work out in the pool
In Saint-Gervais, you’ll find a fabulous swimming pool complex, with a 25m pool with underwater speakers and a leisure pool suitable for families. There’s also a wellness area with a sauna and hammam.
If you’re in Megève, head for Le Palais Megève, an aquatic centre with an indoor swimming pool, indoor paddling pool, sauna and a Turkish bath.
Hit the gym
Le Palais Megève also has a gym (the biggest fitness room in the Alps) and professional coaches to offer advice.

Lighting up of the Christmas tree

For over 50 years, this free event has been important to residents and visitors alike, as it marks the start of the ski season. Its display of lights and festive atmosphere are sure to fill you with wonder.

Combloux
This is one of the best opportunities to buy gifts or Christmas decorations from local makers. You’ll also find tartiflette, crêpes and mulled wine, plus a whole host of activities for children.
Apéri’gliss
14 December – 20 April
Megève
Enjoy a spectacular sunset while you enjoy an aperitif with friends in a bar on the top of a mountain. Round off the evening with a “yooner” ride down the mountain with a guide. Price: €50 per person.
Pop-up market at Les Loges Blanches 4*
19–28 December
Megève
A selection of local designers, artisans and producers will set up this market at Les Loges Blanches 4* from 4pm to 6pm. Come and browse for gift ideas and local specialities, such as jewellery, biscuits, syrups and small leather goods.
Christmas Market
20–21 December
Saint-Gervais
The resort of Saint-Gervais is decked out in Christmas lights and hosts a weekend-long market of local craftspeople and products. There will also be musical events and a surprise guest dressed in red… Father Christmas!

Les Contamines
This Christmas market will help visitors get the festive spirit, with decorated chalets, crafts and delicacies. The stalls will welcome visitors at the Espace Animation des Contamines between 10am and 7pm.
Opening of the station with music and Nutty
21 December
Les Contamines
The resort will open with music from the band Loma Loca, joined by Nutty, the mascot of the Les Contamines ski area. This festive gathering will take place at Le Signal, from 9:30am to 11:30am.

Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe
From local wines and cheeses to craft beers, from soaps to handbags and essential oils, the Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe Christmas market, open from 3 to 7pm, provides all the inspiration you need for your last-minute gifts.

Megève
Producers from the Megève region will offer crafts, antiques, decorative items and local produce in the village square from 9:30am to 1pm.

Les Contamines
For 10 days, circus performances, concerts, street entertainers and sound-and-light shows will set the rhythm in the resort of Les Contamines, mainly in the village square and at the hamlet of Le Lay.

This magical experience will light up the eyes of young and old alike. Visit Santa’s office, the elves’ workshop and take part in a cooking class. Or simply watch Santa’s parade on 24 December. Admission costs €5 per person.
Hot tub film night: “Arthur Christmas”

The Palais de Megève invites the whole family to a unique experience: come and watch a film on the big screen in the comfort of a whirlpool bath at 34°C! Admission costs €15 for adults and €10 for children.

Les Contamines
Guests can discover the basics of curling at these sessions every Thursday at the Loyers ice rink from 8:30pm to 10pm. After the effort comes the reward: a glass of mulled wine will be offered at the end of the session. Registration is required at the tourist office.
Horse-drawn carriage rides through village
22 December – 22 March
Combloux
This 45-minute horse-drawn carriage ride offers a chance to discover the different hamlets that make up Combloux, to the gentle rhythm of the horses’ hooves. The activity is offered on Tuesdays, three times a day, in carriages of varying sizes.
Micro-folie: Christmas concert

The Palais de Megève will screen the Grand Christmas Concert 2015, conducted by the Paris Chamber Orchestra. Admission is free, subject to availability.
Lumières Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc

Saint-Gervais
Come and revel in the magical atmosphere of this sparkling free exhibition that celebrates 10 years. The structures are the same ones that were on display at the famous Fête des Lumières in Lyon.
Father Christmas on parade

The long-awaited arrival of Santa Claus in Megève’s central square is at 5:30pm, followed by a seasonal music concert by the Satin Doll Sisters, whose harmonies will reflect the magic of the holiday season.

Les Contamines
Nordic skiing enthusiasts will be able to glide under the stars from 6-8:30pm every Wednesday evening, on a 2km floodlit trail. Access is free and the use of a headlamp is recommended.
Après-ski concert in Le Lay: Little Wood

Les Contamines
The beautiful voices of the trio Little Wood can be heard on the main square of the hamlet of Le Lay from 5:30-6:30pm. This concert will be repeated on January 1st at the same time.
Torchlit Descent

Combloux
The traditional torchlight procession has been modernised and moved to the village, for a night-time procession that will light up the heart of the resort. Afterwards, there will be entertainment on the Place de la Mairie, with mulled wine and hot chocolate.
Ice-skating gala: A Frosty Journey
30 December
Megève
This gala features a figure-skating show combining choreography, beautiful costumes and a magical world. The performance will take place from 6-7:30pm at the Palais de Megève ice rink. Tickets are required.
New Year’s Eve party

Megève
The whole resort of Megève will be alive with tradition, hospitality and festive spirit. The perfect way to celebrate the end of the year with music, mulled wine and ski parades.

“La Crève-Coeur” Ski Touring Race

Beware, the Crève-Coeur lives up to its name! This 5.8km ski touring race, with a 730m vertical drop, will start from the Les Brons car park (on the Baghera piste) and finish at the summit of Pertuis. It’s open to anyone who wants to push their limits.

Combloux, a resort that has been awarded the “Green Snowflake” label for its commitment to the climate, is organising the third edition of its “Perspectives”, a gathering of environmental experts and local players who will be exchanging ideas with the aim of organising concrete actions to protect our environment.
Cross-country ski race – La Bûcheronne Grand Prix

This cross-country skiing competition brings competitors from all over France to Megève. Come and cheer them on, with the splendid mountains of the Alps in the background.
La Monoyaute: Monoski Meet-Up

This event is more about fun than competition, bringing together monoski enthusiasts of all levels. With demonstrations and a friendly atmosphere, the two-day gathering welcomes both seasoned riders and curious newcomers.
Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc

Once again this year, Megève welcomes the best mushers for one of the toughest sled dog races in the world. Children can meet the dogs and discover this fascinating sport.
The Elves Forgot the Cake

The whole family is invited to share the King’s Cake at the top of the Rochebrune cable car between 2-4pm. A treasure hunt, creative workshops and face-painting will accompany the tasting.
Signal Express: Night ski-touring race
13 January
Les Contamines
The Signal Express is a non-stop night ski-touring race on a marked and secure route. Participants will use a headlamp to navigate one of two routes (700 m or 1,000 m of elevation gain). Tickets are required and an avalanche beacon (DVA) is essential.
Avalanche beacon (DVA) challenge and introduction
17 January
Les Contamines
This charity event, supporting victims of mountain accidents, will provide training in crucial safety techniques. Participants will test and refine their use of avalanche transceivers during a friendly competition.
International open-air curling tournament
17–18 January
Les Contamines
Eighteen teams from different countries will take to the ice at the Jean-Christophe Simond Ice Rink. The matches will take place during the day, offering the public free access to a unique sporting spectacle.
Samse Biathlon National Tour
24–25 January
Les Contamines
The 5th stage of this biathlon circuit will see France’s top athletes compete in events combining cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Daytime races will be held at a Nordic site designed for spectators.
White Weekend

Saint-Gervais
Discover all that Saint-Gervais has to offer in this weekend of free sporting and cultural activities. Have a go at ski touring, snowshoeing or even avalanche research. There will also be a wellness village and activities for children.
Motoring Elegance in Megève

Vintage car enthusiasts will gather in Megève for this concours d’élégance, with a host of activities spread over three days. This year, the profits will go towards a charity.

This event is not to be missed! You’ll discover a new side of the Alps during a night-time ski touring ascent, supervised by professionals. This two-hour tour takes place every Tuesday and costs €10, snack included.

The François Bonlieu Stadium will host elite skiers on a thrilling course during this European skicross competition. Spectators are guaranteed an exciting and action-packed show.
Torchlight Descent

La Giettaz
Come and support the ski instructors from La Giettaz, who organise every Thursday at 7pm this free torchlight descent. The show is followed by a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate.

Espace Animation invites you to enjoy a series of films celebrating mountains, skiing, snowboarding and adventure. Open to all mountain lovers as well as the simply curious, these free screenings start at 6:30pm.
Rochebrune sledging evenings

Megève
Megève’s sledging evenings invite enthusiasts of all ages to meet at the Petit Rochebrune chairlift, from 5:45-6:45pm. These fun evenings feature musical entertainment and a raffle.
Grimpe Express: Speed climbing challenge
11 February – 4 March (every Wednesday)
Megève
Climbing enthusiasts are invited to test their speed on the walls of the Palais de Megève. Timed races run every Wednesday from 5-9pm, with the participation fee included in the entrance price.
Climbing night: headlamp challenge
12 February – 5 March (every Thursday)
Megève
Indoor climbing takes on a new twist! Test your skills by climbing solely with a headlamp. Sessions run every Thursday from 6-9pm, at the Palais de Megève. Tickets required.
Elf carnival

Join the fun at the top of Rochebrune from 2-4pm. Enjoy face painting, balloon sculptures, creative workshops, and a tasty snack. Participation is free, although cable car access is ticketed.
Haute-Savoie Night Relay – 4-Seasons Nordic Area

Cheer on teams competing in this pairs cross-country skiing relay on an 800–1,200 m loop. The night race kicks off at the Les Contamines-Montjoie Nordic area at 6pm.
Fluorescent evening on ice

Come and finish the day with some music in the fluorescent atmosphere of the Megève ice rink, for three hours of rhythmic and fun skating. Snacks and refreshments available on site.
Edelweiss Megève Ski

The night ski touring race will explore the peaks of Rochebrune and Côte 2000 from 5:30 pm. Four course formats are available to suit all participants. Following the race, athletes and spectators will gather at the Palais de Megève for a meal together.

It’s going to be an explosion of colour in the Val d’Arly, with 40 artists presenting their latest street art creations, in 10 frescoes and two galleries. You’re in for a real treat!
Ice Carnival

Families are invited to celebrate the Ice Carnival at the Palais ice rink from 7:30-10:30 pm. All proceeds support a charitable project. A bar and snacks will be available on site.
Back to Back Invitational

The Back to Back Invitational will showcase freeskiing, speedriding, and ski base-jumping with demonstrations and electronic music from 9am to 5pm. Many activities will be offered free to the public, all from Côte 2000.
FIS Telemark World Cup: Final stage
26–28 March

The finale of the Telemark World Cup at the François Bonlieu Stadium will feature the circuit’s best skiers competing in three thrilling disciplines. Admission is free, giving spectators the chance to enjoy the excitement and support the athletes.

Megève
The second edition of this classical music festival will feature 10 concerts across three venues. Attendees can also enjoy performances outside the halls – in the village square and on the mountaintops – along with musical brunches.

For three days, the streets of Megève will come alive from 10am to 7pm (from 2pm on Friday), as local traders offer clothing, accessories, and unusual treasures at special prices.
