1. Refuge des Fornells and Coll del Pam (easy)

This easy 7km loop crosses wide forest trails before reaching Col del Pam. The panoramic viewpoint offers a spectacular view of the Carlit and Canigou mountain ranges. 

The terrain is mainly woodland, with a few sections crossing ski slopes. It is therefore suitable for inexperienced walkers and families who want to discover the region at a leisurely pace.

2. Odeillo solar furnace route (very easy)

Set off on a cultural discovery in the heart of nature and see the world’s largest solar furnace, a fascinating technological curiosity tucked away in the hills above Odeillo.

The relatively wide trail crosses pastures and grassy paths, making it an easy hike for beginner walkers. It’s the perfect way to explore the region with your family at the start of your chalet holiday.

3. Roc de la Calma (moderate)

This route offers a beautiful, moderate climb to the Roc de la Calma information board, with unobstructed views of the Cerdagne plateau and the Pyrénées-Orientales mountains. 

The terrain alternates between wide tracks and mid-mountain trails, so it’s important to check the snow conditions and the state of the trail before you set off. In the absence of snow, it is suitable for people who already have some hiking experience and who want to enjoy the view without too much challenge.

4. Bouillouses Lake (moderate)

Starting point: Car park at Pla dels Avellans (La Llagonne)

Lac des Bouillouses is considered one of the most beautiful and accessible lakes in the region, and this route allows you to discover it without too much effort. It will also take you past two other lakes: Estany de la Pradella and Estany Negre.

This circular route, recommended for experienced hikers, includes a few steep climbs, but offers spectacular views of the Pyrenees mountains.

Due to the altitude of this route, it is essential to check the snow conditions and the state of the trail before you set off.

5. Cariolettes trail (easy)

Starting point: Bolquère

This family-friendly hike, takes you across pastures and the open landscapes of the Cerdan plateau, often with superb views of the mountains. It is also possible to join the route from Odeillo.

The trail sometimes runs alongside the famous “Yellow Train” railway line, making it a pleasant walk that is ideal for families and inexperienced hikers, with the opportunity to admire the local flora as it comes back to life in spring.

6. Heights of Égat loop (easy)

Distance: 7,6 km
Elevation: +290 m / −290 m

Starting point: Centre of Égat

This loop starts in the centre of Égat and follows a variety of trails, including wide tracks and forest paths. You will walk above peaceful hamlets, with sweeping views of the Têt valley and the surrounding mountains. 

The terrain is relatively gentle, with no major technical difficulties, making it an ideal nature walk with family or friends. The views offer plenty of photo opportunities along the way.

7. Vallée de la Têt (easy)

Distance: 12 km
Elevation: +220 m / −220 m
Time: 2h 30min
Starting point: Estanyols car park (Bolquère)

This easy circuit runs alongside the River Têt on wide, grassy tracks. Bordering the Bolquère communal forest, it’s a family-friendly hike in the heart of the Pyrenean landscape, with a beautiful combination of meadows, woods and water features. 

You can return via the same route or take a parallel path back to your starting point on the D618. From there, it’s easy to get back to your chalet in Font-Romeu.
