Overview
There is certainly no shortage of space for up to 12 guests at this contemporary chalet in the peaceful hamlet of Beranger, perched on a sunny plateau just 4.5km from St Martin de Belleville.
High ceilings and big windows mean the living areas are full of light, and enjoy great views of the mountains from the wraparound balcony.
It's just a seven-minute drive into the resort, from where you have fast access to the vast Trois Vallées ski area and, at the end of a thrilling day in the mountains, you can relax in front of the fire or perhaps enjoy a movie night in the TV room.
There's just as much to see and do in the Trois Vallées in the summer, with walking, biking and climbing among the many activities.
Foodies are well catered for in St Martin de Belleville, where you'll find everything from restaurants serving Savoyard specialties to La Bouitte - a renowned restaurant with three Michelin stars. But if you'd rather cater for yourself, you'll also find a popular bakery, butcher and a small supermarket.
About the property
You'll enter on the ground floor when you arrive at the chalet, where you'll find a ski room with a boot heater and plenty of storage. Next you come to the TV room - a great favourite with children who can enjoy a film or play games on the X-Box while the adults relax upstairs. There's also a laundry room, a WC, a shower and a games room with table tennis on this floor.
There are four bedrooms on the first floor, all of which can be arranged with twin beds or a kingsize bed, according to your needs. Two of them have en suite bathrooms, whereas the others share a bathroom and a separate WC. There's access to a furnished terrace from this floor.
The third floor is devoted to the huge, open-plan living area, which opens onto a large, sunny terrace. The spacious seating area has windows or doors, each with a different view, on three sides. Cosy sofas and armchairs are arranged around the fireplace. The vast kitchen has a double oven and everything you need to cook for a hungry crowd and there's room for everyone to eat together at the dining table. If you just want to grab a quick snack before you head out for the day, there's a breakfast bar, too.
The impressive master bedroom on the top floor has the best views of the house, and there are double doors onto a private balcony so that you can make the most of them. This room also has a fireplace and an en suite bathroom with a bath, walk-in shower and double wash basins. There's another double/twin room on this floor with an en suite bathroom, and an office. Toiletries, soft towels and slippers are provided in all of the bathrooms.
This beautiful house has been decorated in a contemporary style throughout, with great use of wood and striking modern art.
About the area
The tranquil ski resort of St Martin de Belleville is a great hit with families, due to its relaxed atmosphere and a superb dedicated ski area for beginners.
You'll find a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, but if you're looking for lively apres ski, you might have to travel a bit further.
Fast lifts and 600km of pistes across the Trois Vallees, Les Menuires, Meribel and Courchevel mean there's plenty of scope for winter sport enthusiasts.
There's lots for thrill-seekers in the summer too. Try paragliding, climbing, via ferrata or perhaps even white-water rafting and canyoning on the Isère river.
