Chalet de Nantaux ...
When you stay at Chalet de Nantaux, in the village of Essert la Pierre, you'll enjoy easy access to three of the Portes du Soleil's 12 resorts. And after a wonderful day exploring the mountains on skis, foot or by bike, you can return to your peaceful chalet and relax in the hot tub or sauna.
You'll need a car when you stay at Chalet de Nantaux, but with Morzine (5km), Montriond (3km) and St Jean d'Aulps (3km) waiting to be discovered, you'll be well rewarded. The Ardent lift, which has a free car park, is only 9km away from the chalet and brings you directly to the pistes in Avoriaz.
Outside the ski season, you've wonderful walks, hikes and biking trails to explore - some of them right from your door. You can swim in Lake Montriond, enjoy whitewater sports on the River Dranse or perhaps enjoy views of Mont Blanc from a paraglider.
There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in Morzine and Montriond, and a Carrefour supermarket just 2km from Chalet de Nantaux.
About the property ...
Up to eight guests can enjoy a holiday at three-storey Chalet de Nantaux, which has four en suite bedrooms.
You'll enter on the ground floor, either through the main door or the garage, which has been set up as a ski room with a heated boot rack and bike storage. The rest of this floor is dedicated to the cosy living space. There's a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook for a hungry crowd, and a dishwasher to make the clearing up easier. You can all eat together at the dining table in front of the patio doors which open on to the covered terrace. If you'd rather eat outside, there's another dining table out here with fabulous views of the valley and the mountains.
After dinner, get together on the cosy sofas in front of the woodburning stove to chat about your day, watch a film or play board games.
There are two bedrooms on the upper floor, both of which open on to the covered balcony - the perfect place for the first coffee of the day! One of the bedrooms can be arranged with a kingsize bed or two single beds, and has an en suite bathroom with WC. The other has a kingsize bed and an en suite shower room with WC.
There are two more bedrooms on the lower ground floor, both of which have kingsize or twin beds and en suite shower rooms with WCs. There's also a great TV/playroom on this floor, a WC and a laundry area with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Both the playroom and one of the bedrooms open on to the terrace, where you'll find the hot tub and a barrel sauna - the perfect places to relax at the end of the day.
There are two parking spaces right outside the chalet.
About the area ...
When you stay at Chalet de Nantaux, you'll find great skiing, hiking and biking in every direction. It's perfectly placed between the three Portes du Soleil resorts of Morzine (5km), Montriond (3km) and St Jean d'Aulps (3km).
You can also ski in to Switzerland, and with 650km of pistes to discover, there is plenty of scope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.
Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which are often host to ice hockey matches, and the local cinema often shows films in English. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area's frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride.
In the spring and summer, the lush green slopes around Chalet de Nantaux become a haven for walkers, mountain bikers and thrill-seekers. Choose between gentle lakeside strolls, a cycle along the river into Morzine or more challenging summit hikes. If you're cycling, the lifts will transport you and your bike up the mountains, leaving you to come back down at your leisure. Take a picnic and make a day of it!
Morzine and neighbouring Les Gets have earned Famille Plus status for their excellent childcare and entertainment, so this area is the perfect choice for young families. There are superb water parks in both resorts and in neighbouring Avoriaz, as well as two summer sledge runs, while the Indiana adventure park has a range of assault courses to suit all ages.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet de Nantaux is a three-storey, detached chalet for eight guests, with four en suite bedrooms.
Just 3km from the heart of the year-round resort of Morzine, you'll be able to make the most of all the facilities and the packed entertainment programme, but when you want to relax, you can return to your beautiful chalet, with its sunny terrace, sauna and hot tub.
Whether you're travelling with friends or family, Chalet de Nantaux is well-designed to cater for all ages. There are four double en suite bedrooms, three of which can be arranged with kingsize or two single beds.
Some of them also have access to the terrace or the balcony. Two families booking together will appreciate that two bedrooms are on the top floor and two on the lower ground floor, separated by the living area.
It gives both groups privacy, with the opportunity to get together for meals.
The living area has cosy sofas and chairs around the fireplace and television. And if you can't decide what to watch, there's another TV and playroom on the lower floor.
There's a fully-equipped kitchen, a large dining table and, on the lower ground floor, a separate laundry room.
Children will appreciate the large garden, both in summer and in winter, when there's plenty of room for snowball fights. The former garage has been made into a useful ski and bike store.

From the owner
Mark & Katherine
Hello - we are Mark and Katherine and with our three children. For the past 30 years we’ve explored various holiday destinations but it’s the French Alps that have truly captured our hearts.
Our dream of owning a chalet seemed like a distant fantasy until 2014, when we bought Chalet de Nantaux which has become our winter and summer haven.
When we first set eyes on the chalet in 2013 it was nothing more than the concrete foundations. Six months later it was starting to resemble a chalet.
We were enchanted by its situation and the views, and we took the plunge to invest in a small part of the French Alps. We purchased Chalet de Nantaux in early 2014, prior to completion, so we were able to influence the final design.
The village of Essert la Pierre is a hidden gem - it's conveniently close to lifts and amenities yet exudes an incredible sense of tranquility.
Winter holds its magic with skiing adventures that range from leisurely days on the slopes to thrilling exploration with the Portes du Soleil pass, providing access to numerous resorts.
Summer on the other hand brings mountain biking, road cycling, walking, whitewater rafting, throwing yourself off the Wibit in Lac des Ecole or paddle boarding on the Lac du Montriond.
However, one of our favourite time to visit is out of season, particularly in the autumn. While some shops and restaurants might close, the views, autumn foliage, frosty mornings and sunny afternoons more than compensate for it.
We named our chalet “Chalet de Nantaux” after the mountain that sits at the back of the chalet. Essert la Pierre is well known for being the sunniest spot in the entire area, offering long, sun-drenched evening for drinks and al fresco dining on the balcony.
For us this chalet is a haven in every season, where we can escape the stress of real life and recharge. We hope that you get the chance to experience this for yourself and benefit from the escape.

“Magnificent chalet”
Magnificent chalet corresponding in every respect to the description on the website. We had a great weekend with our family, 7 adults and a baby. I highly recommend it.
“Awesome chalet in beautiful location”
Awesome chalet in beautiful location with excellent facilities and reasonable value for money. Already planning our next trip!
“Fantastic, well thought out”
Fantastic, well thought out. High-end chalet, well-equipped, feels like a home away from home and perfect for a week of skiing in the Alps. Very close to Morzine and Avoriaz in a charming sleepy village. Kids especially loved the hot tub! Will definitely return!
