If you're looking for something a little bit different, surrounded by nature and far from the hustle and bustle of modern ski resorts, you've just found it.
This chalet is a stunning 4* base for groups who want to get away from it all and enjoy the wildness of the mountains, before returning to an ultra-stylish and comfortable home. The chalet sleeps 12 people in six bedrooms, three of which are en suite. The mountain is your own private garden with this alpine chalet surrounded by 3 hectares of land and 200sq m terrace.
The property is just 1.5km from Le Plan, where your nearest ski lift is La Grande Rare Les Portes du Mont Blanc and, in the season, a restaurant. You'll find more restaurants as well as a selection of shops in La Giettaz, which is 5km away.
Access is challenging, and you'll need a 4WD vehicle with snow tyres in the winter, but you'll be rewarded by total solitude, and a peace broken only by the noises of wild animals and the deer who visit your garden. The owners offer hire of a six-seater off-road vehicle, should you need it, to get you to the lifts - please contact us for more information. The neighbouring farmer occasionally uses the land around the chalet to graze his cows, and may even be seen milking them at the end of the drive - a real treat for young visitors!
About the property
You'll enter the property on the lower ground floor - dump your kit in the ski room before heading upstairs.
The stylish bedrooms are on the ground floor - there are two twin rooms and four double rooms. One of the twin rooms has a shower, and two of the doubles have elegant baths as well as showers. There's also a separate shower room with two wash basins, and two separate toilets.
The impressive open plan living area is on the first floor, from which you can enjoy the best views. There's a sleek and stylish kitchen with a breakfast bar and everything you need to cook for a crowd. You can all sit down together at the large dining table which has doors on to the balcony - enjoy an apero as you watch the sunset over the mountains! There are two comfy sofas in the seating area along with daybeds and fur throws on a raised platform - a very indulgent place to settle down with a good book.
There's also a separate TV room and a large area with a central fireplace on this floor. Children are well catered for, with skittles, snowshoes, sledges and boules provided for guests.
The chalet is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility, due to the stairs and the steep terrain. Pets are not permitted inside the chalet, and there is no enclosed garden.
About the area
This chalet is in an amazing secluded location, with splendid views over the Aravis mountains.
Experienced skiers can take La Tréfléannaise, a blue slope, directly from the chalet. Otherwise, it's just 1.5 km to the lifts at Le Plan. There's also a popular restaurant, which is open all day in high season.
The link from Le Plan to the ski areas of Combloux and Megève means skiers have lots of choice - more than 100 km of pistes in the Portes du Mont-Blanc area, and still more in the larger Evasion Mont Blanc area, which covers covering Megève, St-Gervais, Saint-Nicolas de Veroce and Les Contamines. If you're still looking for more, you're just a short drive from the La Clusaz ski area, which has more than 120 km of pistes or l'Espace Diamant with more than 200 km.
If you fancy trying something a little bit different, there's even an opportunity to go dog-sledding from Le Plan!
There's just as much to do in the summer - choose from walking, climbing, mountain-biking, summer luge, picnics, or just enjoy the 360-degree views from the top of some of the ski lifts. The Col des Aravis, a familiar scene in the Tour de France, is nearby and walking and hiking trails pass right in front of the chalet. Some of the other popular walking destinations include the Petit and Grand Croise Baulet, the Col du Jaillet and Tete Du Torraz (with a view of Mont Blanc),
Youngsters can put their bike skills to the test or learn new ones at a free bike park next to the bottom of the Torraz chairlift.
The medieval town of Annecy is just 45km away - close enough for a day trip. Explore the narrow streets and canalside restaurants or enjoy a day on one of the lakeside beaches.

“A fantastic time”
We stayed at Chalet Philomena for one week with a group of friends and had a fantastic time! The chalet's location is very special: very secluded, surrounded by nature and with beautiful mountain views. It offers full privacy and tranquility. The chalet has been tastefully restored and decorated and the various bedrooms and bathrooms on the lower floor are conveniently configured. The upper floor is very spacious, yet with several cosy corners. All modern facilities and comforts were present (well-functioning wifi, large TV, books, games, etc.). The kitchen provided for ample workspace and was fully-equipped, making it easy to cook for larger groups. Finally, the wooden terraces next to the chalet were simply stunning, with the sun present almost all day. To reach the chalet, the use of the Can-Am (available as part of the chalet's rental) or another 4x4 vehicle is indispensable given the long and steep slope, but this was very easy and did not pose any inconvenience. What we appreciated a lot was the possibility to do numerous beautiful hikes (offering breathtaking views on the Mont Blanc and nearby mountains) directly from the chalet without having to take the car. With the car, both vibrant Chamonix and beautiful Annecy and its lake are within a one hour's drive, and several other nice towns and attractions are even closer. Finally, Emmanuelle and Thomas were wonderful hosts: very friendly & quick to respond in case of questions. For all these reasons, we would warmly recommend staying at this stunning chalet!

“amazing stay for family”
Super stay for 4 couples with 4 babies The chalet is very beautiful, with a huge living room. The view is amazing, in the middle of nature, perfectly quiet. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bedrooms are comfortable, there are lots of little things to make your stay more enjoyable such as Comics, games, Bluetooth speaker, and a TV corner with lots of DVDs.

“A beautiful week”
A great chalet, so comfortable despite its age (a few centuries old!!). You definitely need a 4x4 to access it as it's really high up the mountain, but what a view on arrival from the terrace. We received a great and warm welcome. Bonus: there are walks and hikes available from the front door.
