Please note the owners live in the apartment in the basement of the chalet, with their 8 year old dog Sofia (Italian Spinone). The apartement has it's own independent access.

There is a stream that runs through the garden, which is generally dry in the summer months.

About Chalet Les Roses des Alpes ...

This comfortable and spacious chalet was built in 2005, and comes with all the practicality and convenience you would expect from a modern family home in the mountains.

There is underfloor heating, double glazing and plenty of insulation, so it’ll always feel warm and welcoming when you come back to it. The property is very close to the lovely market town of Thônes with all its facilities.

It has spectacular views of the valley and mountains on all sides, and is a perfectly situated for exploring both Lake Annecy and the Aravis/Tournette mountains.

About the property ...

Mountain style and modern convenience blend seamlessly at Les Roses des Alpes, where personal touches make this a real home from home.

The chalet sleeps eight adults in four double bedrooms, three of which can be set up as twin rooms. All have high quality pocket-sprung mattresses.Two of the bedrooms open on to a sunny balcony, and there are two bathrooms.

There is a second balcony on the ground floor, ideal for sunny breakfasts, and a large South-facing terrace with jacuzzi leading on to a large flat garden. The well-equipped kitchen has a breakfast bar, so there’s no need for the cook to feel isolated, while there’s plenty of room for everyone around the dining table.

When it’s cold outside, the best place to be is gathered around the log fire, though hardier types can always grab a blanket and a glass of mulled wine and enjoy star-gazing from the terrace.

About the area ...

Les Roses des Alpes is just off the main road to Manigod/Croix Fry, a less-crowded access point to the Aravis ski area with it’s 220km of snow-sure pistes to suit all abilities.

There’s also a great choice of cross-country ski, snow-shoe and walking trails. For the ultimate in winter fun, try dog-sledding, paragliding on skis, horse-drawn sleigh rides or ski joering-skiing while being towed by a horse!

Great sledging and snow shoe walks can also be enjoyed from right outside the chalet. Non-skiers are not forgotten in Winter, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool at La Clusaz several ice skating rinks and cinemas, and sophisticated shopping in nearby Annecy and Geneva.

In the summer, golfers will be spoiled for choice at Les Roses des Alpes, with three excellent golf courses within a 20-minute drive. You're just a 15 minutes drive from Lake Annecy, where you can swim in its crystal clear waters or try water sports such as wakeboarding, sailing, waterskiing, kayaking, and diving.

Back in the mountains, thrill-seekers might like to try canyoning, white water rafting or climbing on a Via Ferrata. Chalet les Roses des Alpes is also a great destination for cyclists. It provides secure bike storage and a fully-equipped workshop for repairs and maintenance. It's perfectly located for exploring the scenic and relatively flat Lake Annecy area, while being an ideal base from from which to tackle some of the Tour de France's most famous climbs such as Col des Aravis, Col de la Colombière, and Col de la Croix Fry. 

Mountain bikers will have a huge choice of tracks, and you can always take a ski-lift up the mountain to make life easier. When it's time for a rest, the jacuzzi spa is ideal to aid recovery and the chalet's large mature garden is the perfect place to catch some rays or enjoy a barbecue as the sun sets behind the mountains.

... a wonderful introduction to the amazing diversity of this part of the Haute Savoie.

After several skiing holidays together in the French and Austrian Alps, we came up with the idea of living here and moved in June 2017. My brother and sister-in-law have a lovely house on the edge of Lake Annecy, and our visits there gave us a wonderful introduction to the amazing diversity of this part of the Haute Savoie.

Thones is the perfect location to enjoy the best of both worlds, with Annecy and the turquoise waters of the lake on our doorstep and all they offer, especially in the summer. In the winter, we are just a short drive from the excellent ski stations of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand.

Although we both share a love of the mountains and the outdoor lifestyle our backgrounds are very different.  Peter’s career was in interior design, whereas mine was in the training of racehorses. I have a teenage daughter, Millie, who lives with her mum in the UK, but who is sure to be a regular visitor at Chalet les Roses!    We have many long-term plans for developing the chalet, and improving the gardens. This has the luxury of a sizeable flat lawn (a rarity in mountain chalets!), perfect for creating a leisure area for both children and adults!

“Utter perfection !”

The chalet has everything you could possibly need or want - from super , light and airy rooms ( with lovely views ) to the thought that has gone into providing all of the things you might need : basic household cleaning items , hairdryers , towels for the hot-tub , plus kitchen essentials etc. And then there's the added bonus of having your own dog for a week : Sophia is such a calm and friendly dog .
David the on-site owner is friendly and helpful , but not obtrusive at all .
The local town of Thônes is perfect for all essential shopping , and has cafes and restaurants too.
We swam in Lake Annecy at Angon beach (with grassy areas, trees for shelter, a river , cafe/bar and changing facilities), visited Annecy itself, plus Chamonix (up in the cablecars) and La Clusaz (up 2 chairlifts to 2000m). Everywhere is clean and the people very friendly .
Highly recommend this chalet - it is perfect !!!

“Suitable for any type of break you want to have !”

A very well appointed and equipped accommodation, which is located in a stunning location with a view from virtually every window. Suitable for pretty much any type of break you want to have due to the location. Peace and quiet of a rural location, yet only a few km from Thônes centre which pretty much has most of what you would need. Annecy is half an hours drive. Winter rentals are well catered for with Chamonix, La Clusaz and others close by. David the owner is rightly proud of the holiday let and is happy to advise on any aspect of the rental and the local surroundings, all in a great find. We would be very happy to return when in the area again!

“An extraordinary holiday in a haven of peace”

We had a lovely family stay in this beautiful, comfortable chalet, where everything was perfect. Thank you to David for his welcome (despite our late arrival), his help and his kindness. We were all delighted by our week's stay, both young and old and even our dog Lindt, who will not forget her cousin Sofia! We were abel to ski (at Manigod and La Clusaz), go snow-shoe walking, visit Annecy ... And we relaxed in front of the fire and in the Jacuzzi. We were enchanted by the property, and the area, which we discovered for the first time The chalet is really spacious (there were five of us and the dog), clean, practical, very pleasant and in a quiet location. We loved the Savoyard town of Thônes, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The friendly ski station of Manigod is also nearby, as well as La Clusaz and Annecy. We strongly recommend bringing a car for getting around and for shopping (remember to use snow tires or chains in winter because the roads are snowy). David gave us good advice in this respect when we arrived.

“Stunning area”

We really enjoyed our stay at this chalet, which was bright, well-equipped, and in a stunning location, with terrific views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Yet with easy access to the town of Thones and its facilities. The owners were also most friendly and helpful.
Stunning scenery, and variety of things to do, ranging from swimming in Lake Annecy to using cable car and luge.

“Already thinking about the possibility to return...”

We spent a fantastic July week at June and Nigel´s Chalet. Our family of five have done family hikes for quite a few years now in Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Italy but we found the hikes in the French Alps to be second to none. The Chalet is certainly the best we ever rented, clean, spacious, high quality and richly equipped.We would like to return.

“Ideal for a family holiday”

The chalet is very comfortable, cosy, child-friendly and very well equipped for a family holiday. The views are stunning and the location is convenient to the town, with good roads to ski locations nearby. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and looked after when we needed advice, recommendations and help, particularly when we had problems with no winter tyres and figuring out snow chains!

Warm welcome, the chalet was just as it had been described, the location was quiet. The scenery was magnificent, dominated for us by Mont Lachat, which is the starting place for several trips out. In short, it's perfect for a week's holiday, and the terrace and outside jacuzzi are a bonus!

“Mr and Mrs Parker were exceptional hosts. ”
