Throughout the festive period, you’ll find all sorts of activities and entertainments taking place in our resorts – here are some of the highlights…
Event: Morzine Spartan Race
Date: 10-11 December
Location: Morzine
The famed Spartan obstacle race comes to Morzine this winter for the second time, with a 10km and a 21km race taking place largely in the village and on the pistes. With a kids race on 10 December and the adult races on 11 December, whether you’re taking part or spectating it’s sure to be a fun weekend.

Date: 17 December 2022 – 1 January 2023
Location: Morzine
Enjoy two weeks of magical lights, shows, and entertainment – the perfect holiday season experience! Free to enjoy there’s everything from a visit from Father Christmas to workshops for children and street parades, it makes a wonderful focus for a festive holiday. Read more about it here.
Event: Les Gets Ski Party
Date: 17 December
Location: Les Gets
Be the first on the slopes as Les Gets opens for a brand new ski season. Get there early! Find more information here.
Event: Father Christmas lives in Les Gets
Date: 17 – 24 December
Location: Les Gets
Venture into the heart of the enchanted forest to meet Father Christmas and his team of elves! Tickets are available from December 1.
Event: Christmas at the Museum
Date: 18 December
Location: Les Gets
Celebrate Christmas with music at the Musée de la Musique Mécanique! Entrance to the museum is free from 15h, and the winter carousel starts at 16h.
Event: Wonderland
Date: 29 December
Location: Morzine
Don’t miss this sound and light retelling of Alice in Wonderland in the Place de l’Office de Tourisme – the fun starts at 5.30 pm.
Event: New Year Fireworks

Get ready for 2022 with free fireworks displays in Les Gets.

Event: Montreux Comedy goes skiing
Date: 14 – 21 January
Location: Les Gets
The famous Montreux Comedy Festival comes to the mountains for a week of skiing and laughter. Check the line-up and the programme on the website.
Event: Australia day in Avoriaz
Date: 26 January
Location: Resorts across the Savoie
Fancy dress, national flags, shrimp on the barbie and all things Australian are celebrated in Avoriaz on this special day!

With February half term one of the most popular times for family ski holidays, here are just a few of the main activities and entertainments available this month…
Event: Les Neiges Etoilées Food Festival
Date: 1 – 4 February
Location: Châtel
This international food festival brings together professional and amateur chefs from all over the world.
Event: Red Ski Show
Date: Every Monday from 6-27 February
Location: Les Gets
Ski instructors from the ESF Les Gets will entertain, with torchlit descents, spectacular ski shows, piste grooming and rescue demonstrations as well as fireworks. Enjoy a mulled wine or a hot chocolate while you watch the show. Check the website as times vary.
Event: The Famers’ Party
Date: 7 February
Location: Châtel
Join local farmers at the church square for their annual party, and you may get the chance to judge the best Abondance cheese! Children will love the farm games, music and the chance to meet the animals. The parade starts at Linga at 7 pm, arriving in the village at about 7.30 pm, before heading back to Linga via Vonnes.
Event: Avoriaz Snow Carnival
Date: 8, 15 & 22 February
Location: Avoriaz
The resort becomes a giant snow palace, with snow and ice sculptures, parades, costumes, music and entertainment. Join in the fun with lantern shows, torchlit descents, sledge races and treasure hunts. Discover more on the website.
Event: Portes du Soleil Speed Tour
Date: 10, 17 21 and 28 February
Location: Morzine
Get a free introduction to speed skiing on the Plateau de Nyon. It’s open to anyone over the age of 5 and level 3 – you just need a helmet and an awareness of speed! Find out more here.
Event: The Secrets of the Druid
Date: 8 February – 1 March
Location: Morzine
A fun treasure hunt for children, help the druid find the ingredients of his magic recipe! Mixing puzzles with the nature of the mountains, it takes place every Wednesday from 10h-12h and is free to take part in. Click here for more information.
Event: Frosted warriors: Obstacle Course
Date: 10, 17, 21 and 28 February
Location: Morzine
Get a team together or go solo to tackle this obstacle course in the Place de l’Office de Tourisme. Test your balance, agility and strength on the course, and try other fun workshops too. It’s open between 4-7 pm.
Event: Ladies’ Night Tour
Date: 16 February
Location: Morzine
Top female riders gather in Morzine for this downhill ski competition, in partnership with the French Ski Federation. More details here.
Event: Châtel Carnival
Date: 28 February
Location: Châtel
Join visitors and residents for this fun carnival. Check the website for the programme as it is updated. Discover more here.

Event: Blessing of the Skiers
Date: 2 March
Location: Châtel
Meet at the chapel of Plaine Dranse in the early evening for the blessing of the skiers, followed by a torchlit descent, traditional music, mulled wine and hot chocolate. The Pierre Longue chairlift opens at 6.30 pm, and the procession starts at 7.15 pm. Find more details here.

The best DJs from Studio Brussel gather on the StuBru stage in Avoriaz for a week of skiing and partying. Check their website for the line-up as it is updated.
Event: Morzine Takes Care of You
Date: 6 – 10 March
Location: Morzine
Taking place every day this week from 10h to 19h, this event is focused on helping you feel better than ever! With a range of activities and events, including pilates, yoga, hikes and sophrology, there are well-being professionals on hand to offer advice and help you feel relaxed and revitalised.
Event: Rock the Pistes
Date: 12 – 18 March
Location: Portes du Soleil Resorts
This music festival takes place every year on the slopes of resorts across the Portes du Soleil. And it’s totally free, as long as you have your lift pass! With five live concerts on the pistes and over 30 apres-ski concerts, check the website for the latest line-up.
Event: Snowboxx
Date: 18- 25 March
Location: Various locations, Avoriaz
Take a music festival, add plenty of snow and a carnival, and you get Snowboxx. World-class free-riders and DJs head for the resort for a fun-packed week. The lineup this year includes Becky Hill, Wilkinson, DJ Ez and more.
April…
Event: Portes du Soleil Champions’ Ski Race
Date: 2 April
Location: Morzine
This race marks the end of the ski season and takes place on the Nyon plateau. Children can meet champion skiers from the Portes du Soleil resorts and there’s a ski race for children from the local ski clubs and holidaymakers too! An unforgettable day.
Event: Morzine Marmots Kingdom
Date: 5 – 15 April
Location: Morzine
A great week for children – free entertainment, shows, face painting and rides in the Place de l’Office de Tourisme. Discover more here.
