Why choose the Alps for a working break?

An inspiring and refreshing setting

A stay in the Alps offers a rare balance between productivity and well-being. Surrounded by magnificent mountains, tranquil forests and crystal-clear lakes, it’s an environment where you will find it easier to concentrate.

This natural setting stimulates creativity and reduces stress. After work, a relaxing walk in the mountains or a moment of contemplation is enough to recharge your batteries. You could even treat yourself to a skiing session before starting your working day.

Low season = peace and quiet at competitive rates

Outside the winter sports season, the resorts return to their peaceful state, the trails are quiet, and the landscape shines in all its glory. You will enjoy some much-needed peace to focus on your work and appreciate your surroundings.

Visiting out of season also guarantees lower rates for accommodation and equipment rental. Away from the hustle and bustle of winter or summer, you can work remotely in a peaceful setting without breaking your budget.

Preparing for your working stay

A reliable internet connection

To ensure a productive remote-working holiday in the Alps, it is important to check the availability and quality of the internet connection in the area. In the mountains, 4G is available in most valleys, but coverage may be limited at higher altitudes.

The speed of the internet connection in your accommodation is usually specified in the description. If you have any doubts about an OVO Network booking, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.

Good to know: All OVO Network partner chalets offer Wi-Fi, but some offer better speeds than others.

Coworking spaces and chalet offices

If you feel you are more productive when you are surrounded by others, you will find many coworking spaces in the Alps. In Annecy and many resorts such as Val d’Isère, Les Gets and La Clusaz, modern spaces offer high-speed Wi-Fi and ergonomic desks.

If you prefer the comfort of a private chalet, some properties have office spaces with views of the mountains, allowing you to combine concentration and inspiration. Remember to book well in advance: these home-working properties are becoming increasingly popular.

We have included a few examples of chalets that are perfect for working stays at the end of this article.

Choosing a chalet where you can work in peace

Essential equipment

To ensure your stay in the Alps is productive, choose a chalet that is equipped for remote working, with a dedicated office away from the living areas, a comfortable chair and good lighting.

The Wi-Fi connection must, of course, be reliable and fast, ideally via optical fibre. A power strip, a desk lamp and, if possible, a second screen can really make working easier.

Good to know: Some of our partner chalets are equipped with a StarLink aerial, providing high-speed internet access.

A selection of suitable OVO Network partner chalets

Some OVO Network partner chalets are specifically designed to balance work and relaxation. They offer a dedicated, independent workspace with a desk and high-speed internet connection.

Most of these properties also have wellness or entertainment facilities, such as a hot tub, sauna, home cinema or games room, where you can relax and unwind after your working day.

Good to know: Some OVO Network partner chalets can accommodate up to 20 people, making them ideal for corporate seminars.

Disconnect to work better

Sporting activities between sessions

Make the most of your stay in the Alps by getting out in the fresh air between working sessions. Regular physical activity stimulates concentration, allowing your body to oxygenate, release tension and restore a healthy mental balance.

For example, go hiking on the Alpine paths, run on the marked trails, or cool off with some canyoning. There’s nothing like an adrenaline rush in a breathtaking setting to recharge your batteries after work.

Well-being: sauna, spa, detox in nature

Wellness is all around you in the Alps: private saunas or hot tubs in high-end chalets, relaxing professional massages, or thermal baths in a spa with a view of the peaks. Some places even offer detox treatments in the heart of nature or high-altitude yoga sessions.

These soothing experiences allow you to reconnect with yourself, manage stress better and adopt a better work-life balance. There’s no harm in treating yourself, and your increased productivity will prove it.

Good to know: Some wellness centres will bring their services to you, so you can enjoy professional treatments without leaving the comfort of your private chalet.

Practical services to consider

Childcare, coworking and other facilities

In all the main Alpine resorts, everything is designed to make your day-to-day life easier during your stay. Childcare centres and early-learning clubs welcome your children during the day, while coworking spaces offer a quiet environment and a reliable internet connection.

After work, you can relax in a wellness centre with a sauna, spa or swimming pool. You will also find local shops, free shuttle buses and restaurants in most resorts. The on-site services will make your stay both productive and enjoyable.

How much will it cost for a week’s stay?

The budget for a one-week remote-working stay in the Alps varies, depending on the season and the popularity of the resort.

In high season, expect to spend around €150 to €200 per week for a coworking space, €250 for childcare, €200 to €300 for activities (guided hikes, spa sessions, mountain bike hire, etc.) and €200 to €250 for food, if you alternate between shopping and eating out. The overall budget excluding accommodation is therefore about €800 to €1,000 during peak season.

Out of season, prices are lower: €100 to €150 for coworking, €200 for childcare, €100 to €150 for activities, and €150 to €200 for meals. This gives you a weekly total of €550 to €700, excluding accommodation.

Good to know: It is possible to purchase packages combining weekly access to a coworking space and organised activities. See, for example, the offer from Levez Le Pied.
