Covid travel: Why book a chalet holiday after Covid?

After so long away from family and friends, many of us can’t wait to spend some quality time with the ones we love. Many others are desperate for a change of scenery! With Covid travel restrictions starting to ease, and lockdown rules beginning to relax, it’s the perfect time to plan a family reunion.

We’ve all had enough of ‘staying at home’, but what about escaping to a ‘home away from home’? With outdoor activities, mountain air, beautiful accommodation and private facilities, a chalet is the perfect place for the family to reunite.

Read our 5 reasons to book a chalet holiday after Covid travel restrictions have lifted…

1. Escape the crowds

Many of us will, understandably, still continue to socially distance once Covid travel restrictions lift. This is where a chalet holiday in the Alps really comes into its own. Private facilities, mountain locations and the possibility to have food and wines delivered to your door – it’s easy to continue social distancing in a chalet. With plenty of outdoor space, stunning mountain scenery and fresh air, you can properly unwind with the people who matter most.

Many of our properties also accept pets, so there’s no need to leave any family member behind!

2. Private Facilities

Our Partner properties offer a whole host of private facilities to keep the whole family entertained. Relax on a sun terrace, take a dip in a hot tub, snuggle up for a movie in a cinema room or work out in a gym! Younger family members will find no end of entertainment at our popular Cool for Kids and Cool for Kids Extra chalets. These properties come equipped with games, books, toys, Playstations, table tennis tables and more! Parents even have the added convenience of equipment such as stair gates, black out blinds and more at the chalet.

Enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub, or catch up with friends in the sauna at an OVO Network chalet. Many of our partner properties have fantastic spa facilities available – perfect for unwinding after a day of mountain activities!

Whether you’re escaping the city, or simply want to try something new, the Alps are perfect for trying new activities. Cycling, mountain biking, walking and watersports are just some examples available in the Alps over the coming months. Take a look at Our top spring activities in the Alps to find out more!

With a walking path on your doorstep and incredible views, you will be totally immersed in the Alpine experience.

4. Indoor activities

It can be difficult to organise activities for large groups, but at a private chalet, the entertainment comes to you!

Private chefs are a great option for groups who fancy a night off cooking. If you’re staying in the Aravis region, check out Le Cairn and Sandra Martin, some of our recommended private chefs. Alternatively, take a look at our page on local food and delivery services. For a fantastic local wine tasting experience, we highly recommend La Cave Vino, who offer

5. Room for everyone

We work with properties that can welcome multiple families or groups at one time. Kids can enjoy their own space with siblings, cousins or friends, while adults relax in large communal spaces.

Large groups can book two neighbouring chalets to really make the most of a family reunion. Chalet Le Kitz and Chalet Le Buhel are both located in close proximity to each other, making them a great option for big family holidays.

We understand the difficulty of coordinating holidays with large groups. That’s why we’ve created our free 24 hour hold option on all of our properties. Reserve up to three of your favourite properties while you decide which one is best for you. No card details are required and no one else can book during your hold period. This way you can share plans with your group without missing out!
