About Les Violettes Blanches ...

If you're fed up with the sort of purpose-built accommodation you find in all the major ski resorts, Les Violettes Blanches will come as a delightful surprise.

Perched in a quiet location above the beautiful village of Manigod, it's off the road to La Croix Fry ski station and enjoys breathtaking views of the Manigod valley and right round towards the Aravis mountains, with an open outlook.

The chalet is perfectly placed to enjoy all the sporting adventures that the Alps have to offer, all year round. The property itself is a much-loved family home, and the fun and individual decor reflects the owners' character.

Look out for the children's rooms, which are housed in their own miniature chalets upstairs, and the fabulous indoor pool which opens on to the garden!

The property ...

Enter the house from the sunny terrace and you'll find yourself in the hallway where there is plenty of room for all your outdoor gear. There's a double bedroom with en suite shower room on this floor, as well as a separate toilet.

Further on you'll find the main living space. The cosy lounge area has sofas around a huge open fireplace and a perspex hanging chair which is sure to be a favourite with kids of all ages. There's also a dining area big enough for everyone, a library/office space, and a well equipped kitchen.

Old wood has been used throughout to give this large space a cosy feel and modern convenience is perfectly balanced with a traditional Savoyard feel. But the star feature of this floor has to be the indoor pool, which is reached from the kitchen area. From the pool, more doors open on to another terrace and the garden, where you can soak up the sun and the fabulous views.

Take the stairs up to the first floor, where another surprise awaits - two miniature chalets which contain the children's bedrooms! They each have twin beds which can be joined together to form a double and they share a large shower room and separate toilet. There's also a separate sitting room/play area with sofas on this floor and a piano (Kurzweil keyboard) .

The lovely master suite runs the width of the house and has a fireplace, bath with a view across the balcony to the maginificent mountains beyond, a dressing room and an en suite bathroom with a shower.

The fifth bedroom is in the basement, and also has an en suite shower room. There's also a laundry down here and a home cinema, which is a great place for older children to hang out in the evening.

About the area ...

You'll have to drive to get to the nearby ski station of La Croix Fry (altitude 1500m) but parking is free. You can ski the circuit around to La Clusaz or non skiers/ beginners can take the ski bus to the neighbouring stations of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand.

There's an ESF ski school at La Croix Fry and the nursery slopes are perfect for youngsters to learn on, but there is also plenty of challenge for more experienced skiers. There are also bars and restaurants where you can refuel before moving on. From here, your Aravis/La Clusaz ski pass gives you access to 95 lifts and 220km of pistes, so there's always somewhere new to discover.

Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails to choose from and non-skiers are not forgotten, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink and cinema at La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides all nearby. After a day full of activity, Les Violettes Blanches is the perfect haven where you can relax with a dip in the pool or watch the shooting stars over the Manigod valley.

In the summer, the beautiful garden and sunny terraces of Les Violettes Blanches are the perfect place to take in the views of green pastures, imposing mountains and blue skies. But if you have energy to spare, there are plenty of footpaths and mountain bike trails across the valley and the Beauregard plateau.

For the best views without too much effort, pack a picnic, take the ski lift up the mountains and come back down at your own pace.  Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Manigod.

More family-oriented activities include via ferrata, where children and adults can safely explore the mountains secured to iron walkways, or perhaps enjoy a donkey trek in the Col des Aravis with a picnic in the large baskets carried by the donkeys.

Annecy is another great destination for a day out. Only 30 minutes drive away, this beautiful medieval town with its ancient canals will remind you of Venice and the beautiful lake is a great place to try a variety of watersports, enjoy a cruise, hire a boat or just have a lazy day on the beach.

What next?

If Les Violettes Blanches sounds like just the sort of place your friends or family would enjoy, why not check our calendar and see which dates are free? From the Owner

Every season is beautiful, because here, nature is at its best...

"To start with, the idea was to spend a whole winter season in the mountains, just for fun. That was 10 years ago, and we've never left!

It all happened when we fell in love with the Manigod valley, the rural passing of the seasons, the tinkling of the bells in the summer and the cosy, bright and sporty winter. It was timeless.

We discovered this old farm at La Chavonne when we were walking one day. We've since renamed it Les Violettes Blanches after our two daughters. We put our heart and soul into the renovation of this building, which dates back to 1865, making it into a welcoming place for family and friends.

We're happy to share this haven of peace with you, where old wood, antique furniture and contemporary pieces sit happily together. Make yourselves at home, enjoy the spaces, the books, the films and the music which define the way of life in this chalet. It's a good feeling.

The surrounding area offers a feast of activities. Every season is beautiful, because here nature is at its best. The winter is white and fun, the Beauregard plateau and the neighbouring resort of La Clusaz will satisfy all your interests: Alpine skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, dog sledding, hot air ballooning etc. In springtime, there's a riot of greens splashed with colour. Alpine flowers are everywhere and it's the start of the hiking season.

In summer, the call of the mountains is irresistible, as is the lure of nearby Lake Annecy, where the temperature rivals that of the Mediterranean. In the autumn there's an Indian summer, and it's time to pick tasty wild mushrooms.

In short, there are a thousand reasons to visit this place and have a great holiday!"

“Truly the most beautiful home from home!”

This was our second visit to Les Violettes Blanches and it was just as wonderful and relaxing as our first. Céline the manager was extremely helpful and also throughout our stay with advice and recommendations on the area.

Laura M. - 22/10/2016

“Great experience”

We loved the indoor pool, the several living spaces, overall comfort, and of course the view and quiet location.

Denis V. - 30/07/2016

“Really the best! ”

Nothing to report, it's a magical place to relax with the incredible view - a dream.

Nathalie P. - 09/04/2016

“Luxury, peace and quiet. ”

We loved the decor and the warmth of the wooden surroundings. There was an impressive selection of books and games, particularly for the children, and of course the indoor swimming pool. The panoramic view was splendid and the lack of immediate neighbours is a bonus. The skiing at Manigod, with its family atmosphere and friendly staff, is a real find.

Sophie M. - 05/03/2016

“A superb place. ”

Peace and comfort in a chalet that lacked nothing. A very pleasant family resort.

Frédéric L. - 30/01/2016

“Unique and charming”

Les Violettes Blanches is without doubt one of the best places to stay in La Clusaz with the family or with friends - the superb indoor swimming pool and tasteful decor make Les Violettes Blanches a unique and charming place. In addition, the manager Celine showed impeccable kindness and professionalism.

Joseph R. - 02/01/2016

“A corner of paradise”

A home, be it a hut or a chalet, always takes on the characteristics of its owners. The warmth of this cosy nest comes from the heart, and obviously it touched our hearts. We will be back in February with friends to share more beautiful moments in your beautiful house.
My daughter Iris (who completes the bouquet of "Violettes Blanches") and my son Benjamin (not so much!) loved your corner of paradise.

Philippe L. - 19/12/2015

“The ideal place to get the family together”

We really loved your charming chalet. We got a warm welcome from Céline the manager. We would like to come back in the spring to discover your beautiful region.

Jacqueline M. - 20/11/2015

“We have had the most amazing week”

The house is wonderful, so comfortable and everything we could need. We adored the area, food, scenery, everything !! Can't say enough really...

MacLean F. - 24/10/2015

“We didn't want to leave!”

We had a wonderful week at Les Violettes Blanches, we didn't want to leave! It is one of the most relaxing holidays my family have had together. The chalet is beautiful, with everything you could want to make your holiday perfect. It is extremely well equipped and has every facility we could have wanted. We loved everything about this place! It is beautifully decorated, and the views from every window are stunning. The swimming pool was wonderful as was the home cinema room. All in all a perfect property for us. This was our first time in this region and it most certainly will not be our last. There are lots of lovely towns to visit without having to drive too far, and great walks from the doorstep. And the food was delicious too. Céline the manager was extremely helpful and also throughout our stay with advice and recommendations on the area.

Laura M. - 24/10/2015

“A first class resort!”

As soon as we arrived we felt as if we had been transported to a first class resort, with a magnificent view thrown in! There was so much to do – hikes, days out, great food thanks to the private chef Jean-Christophe Pergod (I recommend him), checking out the DVD library. I spent lovely evenings in my room which, like the rest of the chalet, was beautifully decorated.
It was also a joy to discover a vegetable garden and to be able to give some lessons on nutrition to all those young people who wanted nothing by sausage, Reblochon and Tomme!
So now I’ve got a couple of months to think about my next holiday – I think staying in such luxury has spoiled me!
Anyway, a great big thank you for giving us the opportunity to experience it all.

Sophie M. - 15/08/2015

“We loved our week’s holiday”

Despite the changeable mountain weather, we had such a good time in your fabulous chalet. We will be back, for sure.

Thomas S. - 08/08/2015

“A fantastic week”

Lovely decor, lovely countryside ... we loved it!

LENOIR F. - 25/07/2015

“From every small detail to the big picture”

Angèle and Benjamin have renovated this old farmhouse in the traditional Savoyard style while avoiding the clichés of checked tablecloths and farming implements on the wall. Quite the contrary, the sophistication of the owners is reflected in every detail of the chalet and its furnishings, while still keeping the rooms warm and friendly. There is something to love in each one of them.
The indoor pool in the heart of the chalet is a major advantage. It’s a great place to relax after a day skiing.
The views of the Aravis from the chalet and its terraces are spectacular, and its lovely to watch the colours change through the day. The trained eye will appreciate the attention to detail as well as the overall property.
Luxury, calm and pleasure... you will never want to leave.

Florence H. - 02/01/2015

“A magical place in an idyllic setting”

Between the village of Manigod and the Col de la Croix Fry, you’ll be immersed in the world of the Aravis.
We have been coming back every summer for five years. It has sort of become our second home. An authentic chalet with contemporary comforts, it retains all the character of a traditional property, with the luxury feel of old wood. A real haven of peace with a welcoming atmosphere where all the furnishings have been chosen with care. There’s a lovely surprise upstairs – two miniature chalets are two bedrooms for children. Everything has been thought about, nothing has been forgotten. It’s stunning …
After the obligatory breakfast on the terrace, lulled by the tinkling of the cowbells and the 360° view of the Aravis mountains, we dive into “our” pool to do a few lengths. It’s pure pleasure, and we tell ourselves every morning “life is beautiful”.
Later, perhaps a walk on the Beauregard plateau with a break for a meal at the Ferme des Vonezins or a visit to a local market. There’s a huge choice at La Clusaz, Thônes or Manigod.
In the afternoon, perhaps we’ll explore a new mountain walk or take a trip to the beautiful Lake Annnecy.
As night falls, the chalet looks out over the twinkling lights of surrounding chalets, Choose between dinner in a mountain restaurant, a bistro in Annecy or a gala dinner at the lake.
Whether you are with couples or friends, it’s breathtaking. Both isolated and close to everything, it’s everything you’ve dreamed of.
