"Log cabin" in the forest is a perfect choice for families ...
The unique Chalet Le Mazot is situated in the tiny hamlet of Les Albertans, between the beautiful Lake Montriond and the village of Ardent, which is 1km away. Originally a farming village, Ardent now has a 10-man bubble lift providing direct access to Les Lindarets. It's also home to one of the most popular restaurants in the area. The 200-year-old Le Mazot has a "log cabin'" feel - it's the perfect mountain retreat, at the end of a cul de sac off a quiet forest road. It's certainly not for a group wanting to be in the thick of the action! It's a 700m level walk to the ski bus stop and a 10-minute drive into Morzine, so a car is essential. You can't take a car right up to the chalet, so be prepared to walk the last 50 metres. It's a great choice for families, as there's a good-sized garden and plenty of forest and lakeside walks.
Get a real flavour of mountain life in this traditional Alpine chalet ...
Chalet Le Mazot is a 200-year-old wooden chalet set over three floors. It's furnished and decorated in traditional Savoyarde style and sleeps 9 (6 adults and 3 children) in two double bedrooms and a bunk room with a pull out bed. There is a shower room and the master bedroom has an en suite bathroom. The living area is on the top floor, and opens on to a balcony which runs the length of the chalet. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook for a crowd, and a dishwasher to make the clearing up easier! The L-shaped sofa around the woodburning stove and flat screen television is perfect for cosy nights in, while older children will love the mezzanine playroom, accessed by a ladder from the living area. On the ground floor there's a useful utility room and a ski room with a boiler, to ensure that all your winter gear is ready for the next day.
Ski two countries and be home in time for dinner ...
Chalet Le Mazot is in the perfect position for those who take their winter sports seriously. Set between the ski stations of Morzine and Avoriaz, it's just 1km from Ardent, where a 10-man bubble lift will whisk you up to the Avoriaz ski area. It's also home to a ski school, The Portes du Soleil ski area offers 650km of pistes, so there is plenty of scope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities. Try L'Abricotine - one of the longest runs in the Portes du Soleil, which descends 8km along the Swiss-French border to Ardent, via the snow-bound village of Les Lindarets (a great place to stop for lunch). For a change, take the car to Mont Chery, a standalone mountain with great off-piste, where you'll get fabulous views of Mont Blanc and, if you're early, plenty of fresh powder.Cross-country skiers can follow trails from the door of the chalet. If you're not a skier, there are indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks in Morzine, which are often host to ice hockey matches, and the local cinema shows films in English. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area's frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride. Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park in Morzine offers a variety of activities for all ages.
Hiking, biking and water sports are all on your doorstep ...
Chalet le Mazot is the perfect summer choice for those looking to experience the great outdoors. It's just a short walk through the forest to the Ardent waterfall and the beautiful Lac du Montriond, where you can swim, canoe, follow the biking and hiking trails or enjoy a pony ride. It's a great place for a picnic, but there are also some excellent restaurants. The impressive Brochaux waterfalls are also worth a visit, as is Les Lindarets - a village where goats wander free in the summer. There are superb water parks in Morzine and Avoriaz, as well as two summer sledging runs, while the Indiana adventure park has a range of assault courses to suit all ages. Golfers will find excellent courses just a short drive away in Les Gets and Avoriaz. Other activities in the area include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, fishing, kayaking and hiking.
With so much to see you’ll need to make a return visit!
With so much to do on your doorstep, you never need to go very far, but if you venture a little further, there’s even more to discover. The Portes du Soleil resorts cross the border into Switzerland, giving you two countries and two cultures to explore. It’s just over half an hour’s drive to Lake Geneva, where you can visit lakeside resorts the pretty spa town of Evian-les-Bains, or the beautiful traffic-free medieval village of Yvoire. You can also cruise to other lakeside towns on the Swiss Riviera, such as Lausanne and Montreux. In Chamonix, just an hour’s drive away, you can take a ride on the second-largest cable car in the world, and take in the spectacular views from Mont Blanc. With Geneva airport just an hour and a half away, if you can’t fit it all in this time, you’ll just have to come back again next year.

In the heart of a picturesque natural environment,we've found our home away from home...
“As we're living abroad at the moment, we wanted to find a place where we feel at home, whenever we are able to return to Europe with our children. We fell under the spell of this utterly authentic chalet the first time we visited the Mazot. It's a unique place, a winter wonderland which then becpmes a summer paradise as the seasons revolve. Nestled in the heart of a picturesque natural environment, yet close to all amenities, we've found our home away from home — our little Savoyard slice of heaven. We hope you'll enjoy as many special moments here as we do each and every time we visit. Claire EMES
“Home away from home. ”
This place has everything we need - perfect! Very comfortable stay with plenty of room for us to entertain our family and friends. Very helpful managers always at hand if we did need anything. We loved the peace and tranquility of the area. Fabulous skiing and walking, and good restaurants and bars nearby. A car is a must although the bus stop is a 10 minute walk away with easy access to the slopes and the town.

A really nice property, which is very practical for dog owners. You can wak straight out into the forest, where you can let them off the lead. It's an unspoiled place which is still very convenient, as you can walk to the telecabine.

“Extremely comfortable and peaceful”
Another superb stay at this extremely comfortable and peaceful property. Le Mazot has everything we need for a complete family holiday with easy access to the ski lifts and town via car. The area is so beautiful, quiet and tranquil - just what we want as we have such busy lives back home. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

“Perfect family holiday”
We had a fabulous stay in Le Mazot. The location was peaceful with beautiful scenery and walks. Very close to The Ardent with wonderful skiing. The chalet was very comfortable and fully equipped for all our needs - with up to six adults staying at any one time. There's an easy access to the supermarket, Morzine town centre with all the restaurants and bars. We booked this accommodation and were joined by our grown up daughters and their partners. No children in our party but the chalet was clearly set-up for young people's needs as well. We would certainly consider staying again.

At the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Europe's largest skiing area, Morzine offers great winter sports and plenty of summer action. Ski, hike or bike into Switzerland, enjoy great lakeside walks, explore mountain villages or just relax in one of the village's many restaurants or bars. With a superb swimming pool complex, adventure park and a choice of spas, there's always something new to explore.
