About Chalet Chocolat ...
The incredible views from Chalet Chocolat will take your breath away. Perched above the village of Manigod, which is just a 10-minute walk away, this 4 star accommodation makes the most of its spectacular south-facing position.
Picture windows on three sides of the open-plan living area mean it is filled with light from morning to evening, and a wraparound balcony and huge terrace, complete with comfortable sofas and dining furniture, means you won’t have to miss a minute of the sunshine, whatever the season. There's a shower room and toilet on this floor, too.
Two families or a group of friends will find this the perfect place for an unforgettable holiday in the stunning La Clusaz region.
The property ...
Chalet Chocolat is the perfect refuge after a day in the mountains. Stretch out on the huge sofa, piled high with cushions and watch the sun set behind the mountains.
A log fire means you won’t feel the chill, whatever the weather, and there’s room for everyone to eat together at the large dining table. The kitchen has everything you need to rustle up a fondue or raclette, so you can really live like the locals.
After dinner, curl up in front of the TV, which has French and English satellite, listen to some music or check up on the latest from home with wifi and internet access.
There's a twin bedroom on the lower ground floor, where you will also find the boiler and laundry room. The other three bedrooms - two doubles and a twin - are on the top floor, where there is a bathroom and a separate toilet. Crisp white linen makes all the bedrooms equally inviting, and the bathroom and shower room are spacious and modern – fluffy towels complete the experience.
About the area ...
With the ski bus stopping almost outside Chalet Chocolat you’ve got the whole of the La Clusaz/Le Grand Bornand ski area at your disposal.
Equipment can be hired in Manigod, and there’s a handy ski store back at the chalet. Floodlights on some of the pistes mean you can even ski until 1am in La Clusaz, on certain dates throughout the year, and the weekly torchlit descent is an experience you’ll never forget.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails to choose from, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink and cinema, as well as sledging, show-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
For the ultimate in winter fun, try paragliding on skis or ski joering – skiing while towed by a horse!
In the summer, you’ll want to spend all your time on the beautiful terrace at Chalet Chocolat, and with comfortable sofas, sun beds, a large dining table and a gas barbecue, there’s no reason to leave!
But if you can tear yourself away, you’ll find plenty to do in the La Clusaz region. There’s no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign during World War II.
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness.
Less than an hour from Geneva, and just 30 minutes from the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy, Chalet Chocolat is the perfect year-round base from which to explore the region.
If you like the idea of exploring the mountains from Chalet Chocolat, check your holiday dates against our calendar - we can hold them for you for 24 hours for you if you need a bit of time to finalise your plans. But don't leave it too long - this chalet is booking up fast.
The OVO Network Review
Chalet Chocolat is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom chalet for 8 spread over 3 floors, and 170 M2 of floor space.
With floor to ceiling windows all around the main living floor, the views, scenery and weather are as much a part of the internal landscape of the chalet as the furniture!
Chalet Chocolat is popular with OVO Network guests, who appreciate in particular the comfort, the decor, the views, and, the proximity to Manigod village, the ski fields and La Clusaz.
There is no flat garden at Chalet Chocolat, which let’s face it , is not unusual in this part of the world. The grassy terrain around the chalet is very steep. There is a large, well set up terrace and balcony with BBQ, dining area, lounge area, private sunbathing possibilities, and best of all, views to die for!
Guests staying at the property during Tour de France week have a ringside view, as the chalet is adjacent to the main road. There is no problem accessing the property even in snowy weather, there is quick access to the ski bus, Manigod Village, the Col de la Croix Fry and beyond.
Parking is in the garage or in front of the chalet. The neighbours share the same drive to reach Chalet Parakima, also on the OVO Network. If you are looking to spend time in Manigod as part of a large group, why not book both chalets ?

We were immediately drawn to the chalet's incredible views...
“We were immediately drawn to the chalet’s incredible views and fell in love with its location and stylish modern interiors. Having looked at a huge number of chalets, what sets Chalet Chocolat apart for us are its floor to ceiling windows which fill the living spaces with sunlight and, more importantly, provide 180-degree views across the mountain from every angle. This means that the chalet has all the advantages of a traditional chalet while also being bright, modern and spacious. The location is superb, situated within walking distance of the village, for morning bread and croissants or an afternoon beer. The views of the Manigod valley are spectacular with uninterrupted views of La Sulens and La Tournette, which seem to change every day. In winter we spend our holidays skiing. Although the ski bus stops at the end of the drive we normally just jump into the car for the short drive to the slopes, as the parking is so easy at Col de la Croix Fry. The Manigod ski area is an excellent place for family skiing, with a ski school and slopes for all standards. We typically drop the children off at the Ecole de Ski and then ski in either the Manigod/Merdassier areas or ski down into La Clusaz from where we can goup to L’Aiguille or over to Col de Balme. After a morning spent skiing we’ll meet up with the children for lunch with friends on the slopes, U Freddy at the Etale lift is a particular favourite but there is a huge choice of high quality mountain eateries. After lunch we’ll spend another couple of hours skiing together before returning to the chalet for vin chaud on the terrace.
Although Manigod is an excellent location for a skiing holiday, we first discovered the area in the summer, when we were staying in a nearby valley. The amazing range of summer activities were what really sold the area, and Manigod in particular, to us. We couldn’t believe that one area could offer such a variety of things to do, from tennis and golf to horse riding and mountain biking. Once we saw Lake Annecy we were hooked! In summer, we spend time walking the many mountain trails. Walking in Croix Fry up to Beauregard offers amazing views of Mont Blanc – indeed any of the mountains near the chalet give views of the great peak. The cycling is varied from mountain to road biking. We enjoy cycling the iconic Tour de France climbs (Col des Aravis, Col de la Forclaz and the Col de la Colombiere) and are waiting until our children are old enough to start mountain biking with us. Our current favourite summer activity is visiting the “beaches” (grassy areas on the shore for bathing, patrolled by lifeguards and offering pedalos, canoes and motor launches for hire) of Lake Annecy. We especially like to take a boat out from Talloires into the lake, which allows swimming in a tranquil location with amazing views up into the high Alps. For something less tranquil the children love to take part in the many summer activities that La Clusaz has to offer (ice skating, summer luge and horse riding to name but a few), while we all love climbing in the Aravis Park of Adventures in Thones.
We enjoy buying the local produce. The farm across the road makes beautiful Reblochon and Tomme cheeses while local goat and ewes’ cheeses are available from other farms on the mountain. A local market can be found on most days of the week to stock up on meats, cheese and fruits and vegetables. For more sophisticated shopping Annecy is a short drive away. We love the fact that there are so many high quality places to eat in the area, which range from everyday Savoyard to Michelin starred restaurants. We always take friends to La Ferme on the road into La Clusaz as nothing beats their top quality traditional meals in a fantastic setting. They certainly serve up food that we would never experience in England! As a treat, we can think of nothing better than to book a table at Yoann Conte, on the shore of Lake Annecy – this matches anything on offer in London or New York and is for us is one of the best restaurants in the world right now. Chalet Chocolat is our home away from home and we have chosen to rent it out as we would like it to be enjoyed when we cannot be there. We hope that it is as relaxing for you as it for us and that you enjoy everything that the area has to offer.

“We had a wonderful week at Chalet Chocolat”
The Chalet was lovely, so comfortable with wonderful mountain views and close to both Croix Fry and La Clusaz. We loved it and really hope to return soon.

“Don't hesitate to book this chalet! ”
It is magnificently decorated, and the view is breathtaking and very relaxing. The whole family felt at home in this chalet. It's about e10 minutes drive to the pistes at Croix Fry. We are hoping to come back in the summer.
Nathalie G. - 13/01/2018
“Everything was perfect”
We had a great week in the Manigod and La Clusaz areas, at Chalet Chocolat. The chalet has a wonderful view of the mountains and is just as it looks on the photos on the website.
Tanguy F. - 25/02/2017
This was our fourth stay in Manigod and by far the best. A great south-facing location and beautiful light almost all day long in this beautiful chalet. It is very tastefully decorated, a beautiful wood fire, not far from the pistes for skiers and absoutely perfect for those who don't want to ski but enjoy walking. The cherry on the cake was the blue sky, the glorious sunshine and plenty of snow. We recommend it without hesitation, not forgetting the warm welcome from Corinne. Some advice: add blinds or drapes in the living room for more cosy evenings.

“Warm and welcoming”
This was a great choice for a vacation rental, and we had a great time during our stay. The chalet' set up is very nice, the location is beautiful, the view is fantastic. The house is warm and welcoming. I hope to come back again in the near future.

“We felt extremely lucky to be there!”
Chalet Chocolat was made available to us at very short notice which was much appreciated. It is difficult to put into words how we felt as we came up the steps in to the living room and were faced with a wall of windows displaying the most spectacular view - we felt extremely lucky to be there! We were also treated to a fantastic and colourful fireworks display in Manigod on July 21st which we enjoyed from the comfort of our chalet! Chalet Chocolat is highly functional and very comfortable. The property is spacious, offering a great deal of space for guests. The outdoor areas are a real plus. Mostly, we loved the view... we could have sat at home all day look out at it!
We lacked for nothing at all. This was our first visit to the region and we absolutely loved it - there was so much for us to do and see and many activities for our boys. Corinne was a gem - she settled us in and answered all of our questions on arrival and then promptly and efficiently handled our departure. We highly recommend your home and very much hope to return to stay with you again in the future.

“We felt immediately comfortable”
We felt immediately comfortable in this chalet which was tastefully decorated. We particularly loved the evenings in front of the fire and the amazing view from the large windows in the living room and dining room. A lovely place where we felt at home. The valley is very calm and tradtional ... and a few minutes from the fabulous La Clusaz ski station.
Raphaël M. - 26/03/2016
“Magnificent cosy chalet”
We had a great holiday with our three young children in this magnificent cosy chalet. We really appreciated the stove and the splendid view from the large windows in the living room, which we never got tired of. We''ll make sure we keep the address in the hope of coming back soon!
Véronique L. - 30/01/2016
“Ideal with children”
The view in the morning is superb, thanks to all the windows. Decorated with taste and easy to get to. Ideal if you have children.
Carole G. - 14/03/2015
“The facilities are excellent”
We have just spent a very relaxing fortnight at Chalet Chocolat with friends and family. It lived up to our expectations in every way. We liked the high standard of accommodation and the lovely view. There are plenty of opportunities for walking and within easy reach of other places to visit. We would definitely recommend this chalet as a great place to stay. Thanks to Miriam and Ralph for the efficient way they dealt with our arrival (friendly welcome and explanation about the chalet) and departure.

“A chalet full of light...”
What a beautiful week we spent in this lovely chalet full of light... The view and quiet location made us feel on top of the world.

“Book now this lovely chalet! You won't regret it!”
We spent a lovely sunny week at Chalet Chocolat. We loved the way its appointed, it's very spacious, with beautiful interior decoration. It's very bright, with good sound insulation, a real fire place, big bedrooms, great equipment, spacious terraces and a breath taking view... A huge thanks to the local managers who were very friendly, available and efficient.
Luc G. - 01/03/2014
The chalet is very nice, spacious, well equipped, decorated with taste and in a quiet location. Wonderful view over the Aravis. Myriam et Raph, the "managers", are very welcoming!!!
Delphine V. - 23/02/2013
“Still thinking about this beautiful chalet...”
We instantly felt at home in this comfy and elegant chalet with spectacular views... Thanks to the LEE family who's invested so much effort and love in this chalet, and the efficient manager.
Dimitri R. - 12/01/2013
“Another really lovely stay”
Fantastic snow so early in the year! We can recommend a walk through virgin snow up to Beauregard in perfect peace and quiet... That view is priceless. The run to Geneva airport was very straightforward, too!
Hywel R. - 08/12/2012
“Best mountain holidays ever!”
We spent an excellent week at Chalet Chocolat. We managed to enjoy three types of landscape with 2 days of snow, 3 days of blue sky and 2 cloudy ones! The chalet was comfortable and warm thanks to its great wood burner. The view from the main room is breathtaking: you can see the whole valley and mountain range. We'll probabmy be back as these are the best holidays in the mountain we've ever had as a family!
Didier V. - 27/10/2012
“An adorable chalet!”
We've spent an unforgettabe stay at lovely chalet Chocolat. Drinking our morning coffee in front of that magnificent view was the perfect start of each day. We've enjoyed being lazy on the sunny terrace, getting a tan and preparing one barbecue after another! Farniente, relaxation and wonderful hikes: time was definitely too short and we can't wait to be back! Big thank you and see you soon.
Valérie B. - 28/07/2012
“So much to do!”
We had a really superb time staying at Chalet Chocolat. The view from the chalet is simply stunning. The chalet was a pleasure to spend time in and we lacked nothing in conveniences. The wide garage was especially helpful. The key thing for us is that there is so much to do locally, both summer and winter. It's perfect for children. There is nothing at all that we would suggest you change. We will certainly be booking again. Next time during the winter season. We are already looking forward to it. Very best wishes.
Alison R. - 21/07/2012
“We felt immediately at home”
Your chalet is of good workmanship and very well equipped. We did enjoy our stay both regarding the chalet and the nature around (great hiking!).
Hartmut O. - 14/07/2012
“A wonderful stay”
Certainly lived up to the term "luxury chalet". Stunning location in easy reach of everything, with unbelievable views. Modern, clean, and fully equipped but the views and balcony made the chalet so special: the floor to ceiling windows really did enhance the whole experience - would love to come back in the future as had a wonderful stay.
Nick B. - 30/06/2012
“A very enjoyable, restful and peaceful holiday ”
The chalet lived up to all expectations and, as only recently built, the furnishings were like new. The kitchen contained all of the modern equipment one could wish for and was well stocked to a high standard with utensils, crockery, cutlery etc. We have been on many holidays to the French and Swiss Alps but we must say that the views of the valleys and mountains from the lounge and terraces were the most stunning we have seen. The nearby attractive town of Thônes was useful for buying bread, cheese, meat, poultry, etc. (Besides the specialist shops, there is a Carrefour supermarket just outside the town, and the weekly market on Friday sells all types of local produce). We enjoyed trips out to La Clusaz which is a nice resort, Annecy is a lovely town with rivers running through it and we thought the drive around Lac Annecy to be beautiful. Should we decide to visit this area again we would have no hesitation in staying at Chalet Chocolat. Once again, thank you for your support in helping towards making our holiday in Manigod so enjoyable.
Jonathan G. - 02/06/2012
We loved the chalet, the place. It was great!
Walter S. - 12/05/2012
“An amazing week in a truly amazing place.”
An amazing week in a truly amazing place. We have all had a relaxing and enjoyable time and are reluctant to leave. BBQ's on the terrace as the sun goes down were a particular highlight. Many, many thanks, Conrad, Holly, Marc, Angharad, Mags and Tom
Conrad H. - 24/03/2012
“Top class chalet!”
We stayed at Chalet Chocolat in late spring while there was still snow on
the tops of the panoramic mountains. We were thrilled to find the chalet
perched on the hillside with an absolutely amazing view. The living area on
the first floor enjoys floor to ceiling windows on three sides so you feel
truly enveloped in the surrounding landscape. We never tired of that view
throughout our stay! The chalet was really top class: lovely furniture and
very chic accessories in all the rooms and the most comfortable beds we have
ever slept on in a chalet (and we've stayed in a few). The bathrooms were
also very luxurious and completed the impression that this was a true
One of the things we love to do when we visit France is shop in the local
markets and cook at home for the odd evening. All the cooks were impressed
with the standard of the kitchen equipment and we enjoyed using the
excellent tableware. All in all, the chalet really felt like a true home
from home, albeit a very high quality home!
This was our first visit to the Manigod area and we enjoyed exploring the beautiful countryside. There was plenty to do even for non-skiers, with lots of local walks, good food and shopping and ice-skating nearby.
Sitting on one of the sunny balconies, enjoying a cold beer and a wedge of
the locally produced Reblochon, was just wonderful. We hope to visit again
Nicole N. - 15/05/2011
Set in one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys, the village of Manigod is a mountain secret that is a delight to discover. With its own ski area linking into the famed La Clusaz ski resort, Manigod offers fabulous skiing in winter and world class cycling in the summer.
Beautiful chalets are dotted around the mountains, restaurants range from local auberges to Michelin starred, and you can buy locally made pottery and cheeses fresh from the farm.
