Overview
This elegant three-storey chalet is located in the hamlet of Praranger, between the Trois Vallées ski resorts of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Les Menuires.
A converted barn, it has been beautifully restored combining traditional wooden features with contemporary touches, resulting in a comfortable and practical holiday home.
When you return to this stylish chalet at the end of a day in the mountains, you can leave your ski equipment in the ski locker, pop your boots on the heated rack and head for the sauna to unwind.
There's just as much to see and do in the summer, with walking, biking and climbing among the many activities.
Foodies are well catered for in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, where you'll find everything from restaurants serving Savoyard specialties to La Bouitte - a renowned restaurant with three Michelin stars. But if you'd rather cater for yourself, you'll also find a popular bakery, butcher and a small supermarket.
About the property
Accommodation at Chalet Susoki is set over three floors, with a spacious, open-plan living area on the top floor. Tucked under the eaves, the wooden beams add charm and character, and there's a central woodburning stove to keep you warm on winter evenings. Three sofas are arranged in front of doors which open onto a sunny balcony overlooking mountains and the Belleville valley. There's a well-equipped kitchen and a dining area with bench seating where you can all eat together.
There are four bedrooms on the first floor: three double rooms each with en suite bathrooms, and a dormitory room ideal for four children, with two sets of bunk beds.
There's a great family room on the ground floor, perfect for watching TV and playing games. There's also room for a couple of extra guests here. There's a seven-person sauna and a bathroom on this floor as well as a spacious hall with room for ski storage and a laundry.
About the area
The tranquil ski resort of St Martin de Belleville is a great hit with families, due to its relaxed atmosphere and a superb dedicated ski area for beginners.
You'll find a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, but if you're looking for lively apres ski, you might have to travel a bit further.
Fast lifts and 600km of pistes across the Trois Vallees, Les Menuires, Meribel and Courchevel mean there's plenty of scope for winter sport enthusiasts.
There's lots for thrill-seekers in the summer too. Try paragliding, climbing, via ferrata or perhaps even white-water rafting and canyoning on the Isère river.
