About the property

There's plenty of room for up to 13 guests at Chalet Alpaga, which has five bedrooms and six bathrooms set over four floors.

As you enter on the lower ground floor, you can leave your skis in the ski room and pop your boots on the warming rack ready for the next day. There's a sauna and shower room here too, as well as the laundry room and garage.

There are four bedrooms on the next floor. Children will love the room with two sets of built-in double bunks, which has an en suite shower room. There's also a double bedroom with an en suite shower room and a balcony, another room which can be arranged with a kingsize or twin beds with an en suite shower room and a balcony, and a triple room that can be arranged with two single beds and a bunk bed or a kingsize bed and a bunk. This room has an en suite bathroom.

On the next floor, the beautiful light-filled living area opens on to a large wraparound furnished balcony. In good weather this a fabulous place to eat, and enjoy the wonderful views over the mountains and the village.

There's a large, cosy L-shaped sofa in front of the television and fire, and an open plan kitchen with all the equipment you need to cook up a hearty meal. The huge dining table is sure to be the setting for some memorable evenings together!

There's another TV room under the eaves on the top floor, as well as a wonderful master suite, with plenty of storage and an en suite bathroom with separate shower.

About the area

Situated between Morzine and Montriond, Chalet Alpaga gives you easy access to the Morzine ski area, as well as Les Gets and Avoriaz.

You can also ski in to Switzerland, but be warned, only the most accomplished skiers should tackle the Swiss Wall - a huge mogul field which is classified as an orange route - too hazardous for a black! But with 650km of pistes, there is plenty of scope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.

If you’re not a skier, Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which host ice hockey matches from time to time, and the local cinema often shows films in English. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area’s frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride.

Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park offers a variety of activities for all ages.

In summer, the area is a great destination for an outdoor holiday. Walking, hiking and biking trails crisscross the mountains, and you can save your legs by taking the lift to the top and enjoying a leisurely descent.

You can swim, canoe or paddle board at the lake at Montriond, just a short drive from Chalet Alpaga, or just enjoy a gentle walk around its shores before lunch at the restaurant.
