Chalet Buchilles

In the summer, you can cool off with a dip in the Lac Bleu at nearby Morillon (10km) or Samoens' Lac aux Dames (11km), or enjoy other lakeside activities such as horse-riding, tennis, the golf driving range or the tree-top adventure park.

Whatever time of year you choose to visit, when you return to your chalet at the end of a busy day, you can enjoy the beautiful view from the hot tub and swimming spa on the terrace.

There are several restaurants and shops in Taninges, including a bakery, a Super U supermarket and a weekly market where you can pick up delicious local produce.

About the property ...

Chalet Buchilles is a wonderfully spacious, two-storey chalet for eight people, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

As you enter on the ground floor, you'll find the first of the bedrooms on your right - it's a double bedroom with a queen-size bed and an en suite shower room with WC. Across the hall from this bedroom is a separate WC, a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer and access to the garage, where you can store bikes and ski equipment.

The open-plan living area is at the front of the chalet. There's a bright and spacious seating area with a large L-shaped sofa and leather chairs around the log burner - a basket of wood will be ready for you to light the fire! This is the place to get together for a chat about your day or perhaps to watch a film on the TV.

The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a tasty meal, including an oven and induction hob, a microwave and a fridge/freezer. You'll also find a Nespresso coffee maker and a dishwasher. When you're ready to eat, there's room for everyone at the dining table, which is positioned just in front of the doors to the terrace - step outside for an aperitif, or perhaps head out with your coffee after dinner to watch for shooting stars.

The terrace, which wraps around the house, is also home to the luxurious hot tub and swim spa - what could be better than a morning swim in the crisp mountain air or a soak in the hot tub as the sun sets! There's also a dining table where you can eat out in good weather.

There are two more bedrooms on the first floor - a spacious double room with a queen-size bed and a desk, and a bedroom with four single beds and its own balcony. These rooms share a bathroom with a walk-in shower, bath and washbasin. There's a separate WC just across the landing and a cosy TV area with bean bags, where children can watch just what they want to!

Chalet Buchilles has a large, flat garden with extensive views along the valley - children will love to run around here and let off steam while the adults relax on the terrace. There are several parking spaces and a charging point for electric vehicles.

Chalet Buchilles is situated in the village of Taninges, a short drive from the ski villages of Morillon (7,5km) and Samoens (11km), which are part of the Grand Massif ski domain.

Both villages have ski lifts which give you access to the superb Grand Massif ski area, which also takes in the resorts of Flaines, Les Carroz and Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval - 265km of pistes suitable for all levels, outstanding panoramic views and a great snow record. If you're visiting with young children, it's also worth checking out the small ski but charming resort of Praz de Lys Sommand (14km), and if you'd like more challenge, it will take you just 15 minutes to reach the Portes du Soleil resort of Les Gets (12km).

In the summer, there's great hiking and biking trails, from the nature trail around the Lac de Flerier in Taninges to more challenging mountain ascents. You could also try paragliding, watersports on the Giffre river

The Lac Bleu leisure area, just outside Morillon, is a great day out for families - there's a beach area for swimming as well as horse-riding, treetop adventure area, Segway, electric skateboards and much more. Youngsters can enjoy the pump track, play areas, inflatables and trampolines, and trout fishing is free for those staying in the area.

The village of Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, less than 20 minutes drive away, is also worth a visit - said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France, it's set in a natural amphitheatre of high limestone cliffs. It's also the start of some great white-water rafting and home to a via ferrata course.

And after a busy day exploring this exciting area, you can relax in the hot tub on the terrace at Chalet Buchilles and watch the sun set over the mountains.
