Situated between the charming traditional village of Manigod and the family-friendly ski station of La Croix Fry, there are wonderful walks and hiking trails, and cyclists will appreciate the huge choice of MTB and road routes.
Manigod boasts a popular bakery, a bar/restaurant, several shops and a health spa. There are several more restaurants at La Croix Fry, which also has an ESF ski school. The tourist office in the village organises a seasonal programme of events both for guests and local residents. The market town of Thones, just a 10-minute drive away, has more shops and facilities, as well as several supermarkets.
Whatever time of year you choose to visit Chalet Guimauve, you can be sure of a warm welcome, and plenty to keep you busy!
About the property
The beautiful Chalet Guimauve has been extended and totally renovated to make the perfect holiday base for a large group of friends, or perhaps several families.
The ground floor will be a hit with teenagers and older children - two bedrooms each have three single beds, and their own en suite shower room. There's also a games room on this floor, with a Nintendo Switch games console, a DVD player, and table football. There's a separate WC, so those en suites can stay private! The laundry is also on this floor, as well as a kit room with a heated boot rack where you can store all your outside gear.
The main living area is on the first floor - an open plan kitchen complete with dishwasher, and a warm and welcoming living area with plenty of comfortable seating around a wide screen HDTV and DVD player, and a cosy fireplace. The large dining table seats 14 guests, so that you can all sit down and eat together. There's a double bedroom on this floor, with an en suite shower room, as well as a separate WC.
Doors from the dining area open on to the spacious wraparound terrace, where there's another large dining table so that you can take your meals outside in good weather. There's also a spacious hot tub - perhaps the best place to relax and take in the breathtaking views!
On the top floor you'll find four more spacious bedrooms, which can be arranged with twin or kingsize beds. Each bedroom also has an en suite shower room, and there is another separate toilet on this floor.
There's plenty of parking for three cars outside.
About the area
The family-friendly ski station of La Croix Fry (altitude 1500m) is just 4km from Chalet Guimauve, and parking is free. From here, experienced skiers can ski the circuit around to La Clusaz. There’s an ESF ski school at La Croix Fry and the nursery slopes are perfect for youngsters to learn on, but there is also plenty of challenge for more experienced skiers. There are also several bars and restaurants where you can refuel before moving on.
Your Aravis/La Clusaz ski pass gives you access to 95 lifts and 220km of pistes, so there’s always somewhere new to discover.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails to choose from, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink and cinema at La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides all nearby.
After a busy day exploring the mountains, Chalet Guimauve is the perfect retreat, where you can watch the sunset from the balcony, or perhaps even spot shooting stars over the Manigod valley.
In the summer, you can explore the mountains and the pine forests by foot or by bike. There are quite a few marked footpaths criss-crossing this beautiful farming valley, but if you want to make the most of the altitude, put your bike on the ski lift at La Clusaz and come back down at your own pace, or pack a picnic and explore the Beauregard plateau.
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is another great family day out, with adults and children able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness. If you'd prefer to take life at a slower pace, why not go on a donkey trek in the Col des Aravis - the donkeys will even carry your picnic.
For a complete contrast to the mountains, head to the medieval lakeside town of Annecy. Less than 40 minutes away by car, explore the beautiful canals and shops or head for the lake, where you can try a range of water sports, enjoy a cruise, hire a boat or just have a lazy day on one of the many beaches dotted around the waterline.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Guimauve is a seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom chalet in a quiet location between the traditional village of Manigod and the family-friendly ski resort at La Croix Fry. It has been totally renovated to make it a comfortable and practical holiday base, with plenty of space for a large group.
It's a perfect choice for a group of families - the bedrooms are spread over three floors, ensuring a greater degree of privacy, and older children will love the two triple rooms on the ground floor, close to the games room. Here they can watch a film, play football or use the Nintendo Switch.
The chalet's sunny, south-facing location means you'll get plenty of time to enjoy the amazing views from the terrace, summer or winter. There's a large ski room with a heated boot rack, and the hot tub is the perfect place to soothe aching limbs after a day in the mountains.
The location means you're close to the village and skiing at Croix Fry - a great family-friendly ski station with an ESF school as well as several bars and restaurants where you can meet up at the end of the day. But neither is in walking distance, so a car, equipped with snow tyres or chains, is essential for getting around. The ski bus stops 650m away.
However there is plenty of parking spaces at the chalet, and parking is free at La Croix Fry.
This chalet is not the ideal choice for groups who want to party - it's situated in a quiet hamlet and guests are asked to be considerate of the neighbours. But if you're looking for a quiet place to relax with great skiing, wonderful views and the best of the Alpine sun, Chalet Guimauve is a great choice.

From the owner

Les Congères
Our family have been welcoming holiday guests to Le Grand Bornand since 1965, in a home built by my father - Les Congères was named after the drifts of snow which used to cut off farms in winter. Since then, my brother Patrice and I have taken over our parents' business, and have developed the concept to offer large, luxury properties.
My husband Anthony joined us when we built Chalets Macaron and Meringue in Le Grand Bornand. Anthony and I live in Manigod and love this quiet, sunny valley.
We wanted to develop our business here, so built Chalets Nougat and Caramel.
Then came the opportunity to renovate another chalet, Chalet Guimauve, in a breathtaking setting at the heart of a pretty little hamlet. We want to offer guests luxury facilities, where families and friends can get together in a wonderful location.
We are sure that you will love your time at this chalet, which has been entirely renovated, has a superb view of the mountains and is bathed in sunshine. Being so close to great skiing at Manigod and La Clusaz, walking trails and the magnificent Lake Annecy means you can enjoy some great days out.
