This welcoming family chalet is in a great location between the villages of Le Grand Bornand and Chinaillon. Both offer great skiing, walking and bike trails, and if you'd rather not get the car out, the ski bus stops just 50m from your door.
The chalet, which is set over three floors, has plenty of space for 12 guests with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, and there are stunning mountain views from the huge terrace. But the best place to enjoy it is the wonderful hot tub, which sits on its own secluded terrace. If you'd prefer a sauna, Chalet Dazura has that too !
The owners of Chalet Dazura live in an apartment on the lower ground floor of the property, and are always happy to help with local information and advice. They also keep the access of clear of snow throughout the winter.
About the property...
This traditional family property is a great choice for groups who want to be close to great skiing and winter sports, but would prefer not to be in the centre of a busy village. Set at the end of a hairpin bend, It offers great access to Le Grand Bornand, Chinaillon and further afield.
The accommodation is set over three floors, allowing plenty of space, although with two flights of stairs, it may not be ideal for those with limited mobility.
There are two entrances - one on the lower ground floor for use all year round, and another on the ground floor, which is accessible in the summer. In the winter, the road to the upper door is often used by snowploughs to leave excess snow! The lower entrance takes you straight into a useful kit room, where you can leave all your outdoor gear to dry off, ready for the next morning. There's a washing machine and tumble dryer too.
The main living area is on the next floor - it's a spacious open plan room across the whole width of the chalet. There's a large well equipped kitchen, a dining table big enough for everyone to enjoy a meal together and the seating area with sofas and an open fire. There's a television here too, but you probably won't be able to take your eyes off the stunning mountain views!. For a closer look, doors open onto the huge terrace, with areas for eating, catching some sun or just for the children to play - it's enclosed so they are quite safe. The hot tub is on a separate terrace and there's a pretty, but steep, garden too.
There are two bedrooms on this floor - a cosy bunk room for children and a double room, both with en suite shower rooms. There's also a separate toilet. There are three more bedrooms on the next floor - a children's room with three single beds, a double room and a family room with a double bed and a single bed. These bedrooms share a bathroom, which has a bath, shower and two hand basins. There's also a separate toilet.
The layout of Chalet Dazura works really well for two families, who could have a floor each, with their own bathroom facilities.
About the area...
It’s just a short drive from Chalet Dazura to the ski lift, but the ski bus stops just 50m from your door and runs very regularly, so there’s no need to get the car out if you’d prefer not to.
With your Aravis ski pass, you’ve got all the Lake Annecy ski resorts at your disposal - more than 220km of perfect pistes. Kids will love the great sledge run in Le Grand Bornand and the start of the cross-country ski piste area is close too. Beginners in this sport will love the nearby Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains, while boarders will appreciate the Snowpark.
Non-skiers can catch the bus into Chinaillon, go ice-skating in Le Grand Bornand or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open during the winter and summer seasons. There’s also snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides to choose from!
In the spring and summer, a network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains around Chalet Dazura, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office in Chinaillon.
There’s a fantastic open air swimming pool complex in Le Grand Bornand open summer-long, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics. If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
August sees the international children’s festival - Au Bonheur des Mômes - in Le Grand Bornand, a week of magic shows, circus acts, theatre, games and workshops, with a grand firework finale.
You’re in the heart of Reblochon country, so on your travels don’t forget to pick up some of this delicious cheese from a local farm or market - it’s delicious in a tartiflette!

The OVO Network Review
“If you are looking for a great base for an action packed, out-of-doors adventure holiday, Chalet Dazura may be the place for you!”
Chalet Dazura is a 4 star, 5 bedroom, three bathroom chalet for 12 guests, 206m2 of floor space set out over 3 floors.
We think Chalet Dazura is an ideal base for extended families or multiple families, looking for an action packed out-of-doors adventure holiday, where they are up and out of the door looking for new thrills each day, before heading back to the chalet to relax in the indoor sauna or the outdoor jacuzzi, or watch the sunset from the balcony.
The proximity of the ski bus, the regularity of the buses in peak holiday periods, and fun in both directions means access to the two closest resorts of Grand Bornand (3 km to the telecabin) and Chinaillon (3.6 km to the pistes) is possible without a car, if some want to head off without leaving others stranded without transport at the chalet.
The chalet is set in the curve of one of the hairpin bends on the road between Grand Bornand and Chinaillon, with a spectacular open panoramic view over the Aravis with the telecabin at Grand Bornand in the centre. The large wrap-around balcony (with built in BBQ) leads off the main open plan communal space on the first floor, is secure, and an absolute sun trap! If you are looking for a peaceful chalet where you can relax in the summer sunshine out of doors in splendid isolation, the proximity of the road may not suit your requirements.
Guests staying at Chalet Dazura have access to multiple different activities in the two villages, from an open air swimming pool complex (summer only), outdoor ice rink, tennis and the amazing week long summer children's festival Le Bonheur des Mômes, ski tests, and the biathlon world cup races in Grand Bornand, to the Via Ferrata, other challenging climbing activities, the cycling challenge of the Col de la Colombiere in Chinaillon, let alone cross country skiing and golf in the Valley de Bourne.
The owners live in an apartment on the ground floor of the chalet, and so are on hand to clear the snow, and offer support and advice as required. In summer time guests have their own parking and access at the rear of the chalet, winter guests share the owner's access and parking as the commune uses the top access road for cleared snow. The large steep garden has mature trees screening the chalet and the jacuzzi terrace from the road. The road is the main link between Grand Bo and Chinaillon, so while it is busy, it is kept clear of snow.
The practical and much appreciated kit room is on the ground floor of the chalet, where there are ski racks, benches and drying space for all. This space also houses the washing machine and dryer. The communal living spaces - kitchen, dining area, and lounge, are on the first floor of the chalet, alongside the sauna an independent wc, an ensuite bunk room, and an ensuite double bedroom. The main living space is plenty big enough to accommodate all guests prepping food around the island in the kitchen, seated around the dining table or around the fire. The first floor has three generously proportioned bedrooms, a family bathroom with bath, shower and twin hand basins, and a further independent wc.

From the Owner
"We immediately fell in love with this magical village."
We originally came to Le Grand Bornand on holiday, when our children were young. We immediately fell in love with this magical village. Two years later we found ourselves selling up in England and making Le Grand Bornand our home. We've never looked back since.
Chalet Dazura was built in 1980, to a very high standard, a strong construction to withstand the Alpine weather, combined with traditional charm. We have renovated and modernised the chalet over the last two years, since the children have moved on, to create a warm and comfortable home.
We will be happy to welcome you and your friends at Chalet Dazura, so that you can enjoy this superb chalet with it's amazing views, and make wonderful holiday memories of your own in Le Grand Bornand.
Chris and Dawn
Why Le Grand Bornand?
Le Grand Bornand is an idyllic Alpine village which happens to be surrounded by some great skiing and in summer, a superb mountain playground. There are none of the huge hotel complexes you'll find in other ski resorts – just a friendly welcome all year round. Families are particularly welcome, with a great programme of activities to keep kids of all ages busy and happy.
