The property ...
Chalet Alyssum sleeps 13 people (12 adults) in six bedrooms. You’ll find three double bedrooms on the ground floor, the largest of which has an en suite bathroom and another one also has a sofa bed. Ther ski room is also on this floor, as well as the garage, laundry, massage table and changing room. Two of the bedrooms can be arranged with twin beds if you prefer.
There is access to a large sunny terrace from this floor with a barrel sauna, and the hot tub, where you can spend a lazy evening watching the sun set over the Aravis mountains.
There are two more bedrooms on the first floor, both of which have en suite shower rooms, and one of which can be arranged as a twin room. The beautifully-appointed living room is also on this floor - there’s a well-equipped kitchen where you will find everything you need to prepare delicious meals, including a food processor, pancake maker and raclette and fondue sets. Get together to enjoy your meal at the dining table, which is big enough for everyone. Cosy seating is arranged around an open fire and the television, but you might prefer to spend the evenings with a glass of vin chaud on the balcony.
Another flight of stairs takes you to a mezzanine floor with the sixth bedroom - an en suite double - and a television and games room. There’s also a library and office space up here, which overlook the living area below.
The garden is fairly flat and safe for children, with great outdoor games (playhouse, children's slide...). In the winter, if you are feeling brave enough, follow your sauna session with a roll in the snow!
This 5-star chalet has been beautifully decorated throughout, with slate greys, warm wood and huge picture windows making for a light and airy ambience. The owners are proud to comply with the "Cyclists Welcome" offiicial label requirements.
About the area ...
When you stay at Chalet Alyssum, you're less than 1km from the pistes and just a short walk from the ski bus stop.
The bus, which also serves La Clusaz, runs every 15 minutes between Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand, and is free to use with your Aravis ski pass. This pass covers more than 220km of pristine pistes, in the resorts of Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod, so there's plenty of challenge for skiers and boarders of all abilities. There are also plenty of cross-country trails.
Non-skiers won't be bored either - try hiking or snowshoeing, paragliding, hot-air ballooning, ice-skating or ice-climbing. Le Grand Bornand boasts the Famille Plus mark, ensuring that ithere is always plenty of entertainment and activities for even the youngest visitors.
In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails criss-crosses the slopes, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office. Le Grand Bornand has a beautiful nine-hole golf course with a great driving range, and on those very hot days, why not head for the fantastic swimming pool complex, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics.
If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
Le Grand Bornand is one of the stops on the Route de Grand Alpes cycle trail, which links Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean coast via some stunning Alpine passes. The village also features regularly in the Tour de France, Check out the Col de la Colombière, which also features in the 44-Tour du Bargy (go clockwise to reduce the amount of time you spend on the main road), and the scenic Col des Annes - a less well-known pass offering great views of the Pointe Percée and the Aravis mountains.
August sees the international children’s festival - Au Bonheur des Mômes - in Le Grand Bornand, a week of magic shows, circus acts, theatre, games and workshops, with a grand firework finale. It’s always hugely popular, so make sure you book early to guarantee a holiday you’ll never forget!

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Alyssum is a 6-bedroom, 5-bathroom chalet for 13 (max 12 adults) spread over 3 floors and 210m2 of floor space.
Discerning guests searching for a stylish, comfortable chalet, in the centre of Le Grand Bornand, with good proximity to the ski bus, the pistes, shops, restaurants and bars need look no further!
The inside of the chalet isn't at all the same style or age as the exterior walls. Indoors, there are gorgeous brand new en suite bedrooms, and quirky contemporary design touches.
The chalet has been completely and very well renovated, with attention to detail obviously high on the owner's priority list.
The main communal area including the dining area, kitchen and lounge with fireplace is spacious and bright. There are plenty of extra luxury facilities indoors and out, (ie barrel sauna, large jacuzzi, a treatment/relaxation space, TV room etc.) and even a flat garden — all within a short walk of the centre of Le Grand Bornand.
This chalet really does have something for everyone: families will have fun, groups of friends can choose if they wish to eat in or eat out, non-skiers can be independent and find plenty to do, and skiers have great access to the pistes, hire shops, and of course apres-ski. The car can stay parked up for the whole holiday, so no need to appoint designated drivers if you wish to venture out to eat or party! Summer guests will enjoy wandering into the village for croissants and coffee, or to the excellent events and entertainment organised by the tourist office.
The facilities in the village are excellent, but shhhh! Don't tell everybody.
The outdoor areas include an outdoor dining space, sun loungers, and plenty of toys for kids to keep guests as busy or relaxed as they wish.
The owners are locals who have worked in the hospitality industry for most of their lives. They manage the property, offering discreet and helpful customer services.
Don't just take our word for it, have a look at the very positive guest reviews on the website!

From the owner
Pierre & Sophie
We wanted to bring new life to this family chalet, which was built in 1975.
We both wanted it to be a quality and enjoyable property where our guests felt happy and at home. That is why we used local craftsmen and natural materials like wood, metal and stone.
The name, Chalet Alyssum, came from our passion for nature. Alyssum is a class of flower that includes more than 150 species.
which include bright perennials which cover the stones of the chalet.
After nine months of careful thought and work, we opened to guests in Christmas 2016.
Your contact will be with Pierre, who will help you organise your holiday. Coming from Le Grand Bornand, he has always worked in the village, played sport and been an active member of the community.
Sophie, a beautician, will be happy to advise you on the best places for pampering and relaxation. We look forward to welcoming you.
