The Chemin du Calvaire links the centre of Meg\u00e8ve to Mont d\u2019Arbois, passing through a peaceful woodland. The route is dotted with 15 small chapels dating from the 19th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The path is wide, well-maintained and slightly shaded, making it pleasant even in summer. This cultural and contemplative walk is an excellent choice for a first hike to explore the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The lake at Javen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At an altitude of nearly 1,400 metres, Lake Javen is an ideal spot for a family hike. Starting from the resort, the trail crosses mountain pastures and follows streams before reaching the lake, which is surrounded by mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The peaceful setting is the perfect place to relax, but it is not completely isolated \u2013 you\u2019ll find a restaurant and a leisure centre there. In summer, it\u2019s common to come across grazing herds. Take the cable car to the starting point, then follow the gradual climb through the mountain pastures to the summit at 1,964 metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The view is spectacular, taking in the Mont-Blanc and Aravis ranges. Allow about 4 hours for the full loop. The route is well signposted and not particularly difficult, but it does require a good level of fitness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La Croix des Salles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This 3-hour route takes you through varied landscapes, including Alpine hamlets, woods and meadows, with a moderate climb. The finish at the Croix des Salles offers a stunning view over the Meg\u00e8ve valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to reduce the climb, you can take the Jaillet cable car or drive to a car park on the heights of Demi-Quartier.
