And this is true regardless of the industry.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online reviews are therefore crucial when it comes to attracting future tenants. They can tip the balance of a decision, along with the price of the stay, possible discounts, or even recommendations from friends and family.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Given this trend, it is important to understand why customer reviews are so important for your holiday rental business, and to include them in your marketing strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-makes-a-good-review\"><strong>What makes a good review?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-taking-a-closer-look-at-good-feedback\"><strong>Taking a closer look at good feedback<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The most obvious answer to this question will often be \u201ca positive review\u201d, \u201ca review that speaks well of my chalet\u201d or \u201ca 5-star review\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-it-s-not-always-that-simple\">It\u2019s not always that simple<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This is probably what came to mind, especially if you are just starting your holiday rental business. You\u2019re already imagining your chalet\u2019s online description, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovonetwork.com\/blog\/top-tips-for-successful-property-photography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a beautiful photo gallery<\/a><\/strong> at the top of the page, followed by fifteen or so reviews that say your property is the best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re partly right, and that is the goal. They are taking the time to create content to share their feelings about their holiday. They share their experience honestly, whether it was particularly good, particularly bad, or somewhere in between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-authenticity-is-the-main-factor\">Authenticity is the main factor<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The value of a review lies above all in its <strong>authenticity<\/strong>. This should be your main concern before any other parameter. The reader of the review \u2013 your potential future guest \u2013 must be able to identify with what he or she is reading and with the author of the review. This will make them want to take action. We are attracted by what speaks to us and what we can relate to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secondly, the aim is to collect reviews from <strong>satisfied customers<\/strong> who are happy to say so online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the form of the review is also important. A <strong>well-written review<\/strong> which is free from errors, detailed, contextualised and objective is more likely to make an impression than a simple \u201c5 stars \u2013 Great details that you might not think of<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two types of potential customers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The regular online booker who is used to reading customer reviews and who instinctively knows what is real and what is not.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The cautious customer who will look for the slightest detail that could confirm or deny their decision to book.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So a good review is presented in a way that ticks all the boxes for the potential buyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is what online consumers pay attention to, in addition to the review itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-number-of-reviews\"><strong>The number of reviews<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>How many customer reviews do you need, in order to help the buyer feel confident about their decision?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer is, it depends on multiple factors including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The market sector.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The competition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The length of time you have been in business. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the general rule is, the more the better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure For example, a rental company that is just starting out will appear suspicious if it already has 10 or so positive reviews after only a few hours\/days in business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-date-of-the-reviews\"><strong>The date of the reviews<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent and regular reviews will give a better overall impression to your audience. Renters have nothing against a new holiday rental company, as long as they feel reassured when booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-do-you-collect-customer-reviews\"><strong>How do you collect customer reviews?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Chalet owners often think that it will be easy to get good feedback from guests. However, this isn\u2019t always the case. Even if guests were delighted with the stay, it is very unlikely that you will receive any spontaneous feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get reviews, you have to ask for them. After studying the behaviour of the panel of individuals tested, they determined that the ideal time to request a review from a customer was 13 days after receiving the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the holiday rental market, many marketing experts suggest that the <strong>ideal time is between 7 and 14 days after guests have left the property<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are risks that come with asking your guests for feedback too early. That\u2019s because when your guests leave your property, they don\u2019t necessarily return home refreshed and ready to go. They have to make their way back, unpack, reorganise for the new school year, and go back to work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But a few days later, they will be looking back with nostalgia at the wonderful week they have just spent in your chalet and will be giving a detailed account of their holiday to their colleagues at work.
