id=\"h-how-does-the-rating-system-work\">How does the rating system work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The classification is<strong> based on a point system<\/strong>, with each requirement assigned a number of points. Some conditions are \u201cmandatory\u201d, and others are \u201coptional\u201d or \u201c\u00e0 la carte\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve a certain rating, you <strong>must score a number of \u201ccompulsory\u201d points and a number of \u201coptional\u201d points for the<\/strong> <strong>desired category.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A certain number of prerequisites apply to<strong> all properties<\/strong>\u00a0regarding <strong>quality and standards.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, <strong>all classified properties<\/strong> <strong>must be furnished and have a living area intended to accommodate one or two people<\/strong>. It must have a minimum surface area of<strong> 9m\u00b2 where the kitchen is separate<\/strong> or at least <strong>12m\u00b2 where there is a kitchen area in the living guide<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also a list of 5 mandatory criteria in relation to cleaning, which are worth <strong>5 points each<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The bathrooms and toilets are clean and in good condition,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The floors, ceilings and walls are clean and in good condition,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The furniture is clean and in good condition,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The beds are clean and in good condition,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The kitchen and all its equipment are clean and in good which applies to <strong>all types of properties<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the criteria are the same for a villa in the south of France, a luxury chalet in the Alps or an apartment in the centre of Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s the difference between a 1,2,3,4 and 5-star property?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Owners should refer to the <strong><a However, to give you a brief idea of the different expectations from 1 to 5 stars, we\u2019ve highlighted the minimum requirements for each rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do note that additional points are awarded for <strong>optional facilities\/desirable assets<\/strong> such as swimming pools, attractive views, access to local amenities, obtaining the \u201cTourisme et handicap\u201d (Tourism and Handicap) label and much more.
